ORIGIN
As Katrina Capwell, she is youthful girl at age 17. She worked hard and admired her role models Jubilee and Psylocke, whom she had witnessed perform selfless acts on seperate occaisions. For years she envied them and their ability to make a difference. She applied herself in school and on her gymnastics team, so as to stand out and make her life meaningful (she even learned to speak and write Japanese on her own).
A few weeks following her 15th birthday, she noticed subtle changes occuring around her. People she interacted with reported difficulty seeing, as if someone dimmed the lights, at first. Later, teachers began to over look her presence, when she was nearby and raising her hand in class. About 5 months after her 15th birthday, the strength of the effects increased dramatically - eliciting unnerving questions that required elusive answers.
To Katrina's delight, she realized almost immediately, that she was like her heroine role models! She has been practicing for the last year and a half or so to emulate her heroines.
About the time she fully understood her powers, her grandfather died in a robbery involving mutants. Due to the death, Katrina's mother took a firm stand against all mutants (with seemingly no exceptions). This caused a bit of uneasiness in Katrina.
Katrina honed her skills in silence and seclusion, keeping her talents a well hidden secret until, one day, her father came home unexpectedly early and walked in on her. She was scared witless, and her father was astounded! Fortunately, her father was more accepting of mutants than his spouse, and supported the idea of keeping his wife 'in the dark'.
Her father was unexpectedly supportive of Katrina. He encouraged her powers' improvement and even helped train her at nights in the junk yard he owns. Katrina and her father's relationship grew stronger due to his desire to keep Katrina happy.
Nearing the end of her junior year in high school, life became turbulent for young Katrina. A strong anti-mutant organization had developed in the area and surrounding towns. Between the anti-mutant propaganda and her mother, Katrina had to escape or risk being labeled as something less than human.
The solution that Katrina and her dad arrived at was to leave. The few weeks before the end of school were full of caution and paranoia. The day after school let out, she came across a scene of madness.
A small group of 7 mutants were being violently rounded up by a group of two dozen angry locals. The mutants lacked control of their powers and any attempt at resistance ended with their failing abilities. Katrina stepped in on behalf of the mutants and temporarily blinded the mob, allowing her and the others to escape town. In her flight, she ran into her father but was only able to look him sadly in his eyes before she and the others had to continue their escape.
The 7 mutants plus Katrina traveled together for a couple months, then split up. Katrina now wanders around, perfecting her abilities and helping others out when she can.
Nearly a year later, Katrina has been forced to resort to less heroic means of getting a job done. She gave up and lost hope in saving people one at a time. Now, she forces them toward her perceived 'good'. However, she sees mutants as worthy of her attention, and occasionally takes one in to train and teach.
