Mini Biography: Early in her life she joined Amaranth's Flock, an organization of mutant freedom fighters after being booted from the USMC for failing to report her mutant status. In the Flock she lived a peaceful life, organizing the mutants of her Gothic neighborhood to pick up trash, clean graffiti and serving as a neighborhood watch. Everything was good. Until the Civil War broke out.
Charlemagne's Cape Killers were everywhere. Mutant super heroes almost vanished over night and the mood of the country changed. Some families went on the run. Others vanished. Rachel wasn't willing to live in fear. She volunteered for the front line units and her life changed. New York City was a super hero war zone. Cape Killers faced off with supers, villains ran rampant and the mob ruled. Rachel's unit was guarded mutant enclaves, escorted fleeing mutant civilians, assisted wounded mutant heroes and protected the invaluable medical supplies from looters and Cape Killers. It was in the chaos of the Civil War that Rachel distinguished herself with her bravery and calm under fire.
After the Civil War died down Rachel was transferred to Venezuela to join the Flock build up there. As the country descended into madness and chaos she lead a small unit of Flock fighters in dozens of missions, earning the respect of her peers and the notice of her superior officers for her grasp of tactics and toughness. When HALO was destroyed and the country burned it was Rachel who took it upon herself to escort mutants out of the increasingly radioactive land. After Stark took over the country and divided it into four parts Rachel found herself trapped, battling his corrupt and brutal Venezuelan security forces to protect the few mutant communities left alive. After Stark's Venezuela disintegrated into warring factions Rachel lead a dozen last ditch evacuation missions and eventually a desperate last stand to buy time for one last evacuation.
It was there, covered in mud and her own blood that she met the twenty third Strigidae, Ivana. They fought side by side for thirty nine solid hours and Rachel earned her respect. After Rachel was critically wounded it was Ivana who carried her from the battlefield and saved her life by using her bloodbending to keep Rachel's heart going.
She would eventually make a full recovery and be presented with a medal by Amaranth himself for her heroism on the field of battle and her dedication to the mutant cause. It was an important moment to her, but she always valued the letters she received from mutants she saved even more.
Eventually Amaranth would call for war against the legendary Knightfall clan and their cluster of skyscrapers in New York City. She answered that call, partly out of loyalty to the 'old man' who had fought tirelessly for mutants world wide but partly because she could not stand back and watch her fellow Flock fighters go into battle alone. Casualties were high; the Victories responded to Kamelot's distress call and unleashed their powerhouses upon the Flock. Rachel was wounded several times, by both gunfire and shrapnel, but pushed through her injuries and once more encountered Ivana whom she aided in exiting Kamelot after her successful infiltration.
After the battle ended she joined Ivana's permanent detail. While flying in their transport in the skies over France they encountered a dimensional rift which carried them into another universe: Prime. The Prime universe had been decimated by wars unlike anything Rachel had ever seen. Human supremacists ruled every country except those already ruled by powerful metahumans. France itself had been torn from the earth and now orbited the earth, kept alive only by the technology of Cass Lockhart. Rachel was one of the only survivors of the crash and together with Ivana she traveled the world seeking a way to return to their home universe. They would eventually find it, but not before Ivana's zythium claws were ripped out.
After returning to their home universe Rachel resigned from the Flock. Joining Ivana in Nest 629 Rachel dedicated herself to studying the secret martial styles of the Arcani. There she learned many secrets. Ivana gifted her with the claws that had been forcibly removed from her hands. Rachel built a pair of bracers to mount the twin claws and they became her primary melee weapons.
