Spider-Man Comics

I'm a big fan of Spider-Man and I like how I can relate to him to some degree that he was a shy kid in high school, growing up to be a successful superhero. I also like how he has a pretty wide range of supporting characters and villains. Like supporting characters ranging from Aunt May to Mary Jane to deadly enemies like Norman Osborn to the group of villains making the Sinister Six. And how he gets along with other superheroes pretty well like: Daredevil, Wolverine, Black Cat, Human Torch, Iron Man and his team mates with the New Avengers & The Avengers.

So to get to the point, I was wondering what are some good Spider-Man comics to read? It can be anything from The Mainstream Continuity like his own comic series, being on the different teams (Avengers, New Avengers, Future Fondation, any other teams he was on), Team Ups, limited or mini series, or the Alternative Universe Continuity like Ultimate, Noir, 2099, 1602, etc. I know he has some good storylines and I want to read them but I want to know which ones should be read first. I started wandering this since Spider-Island just ended a month ago and End of the Earth is coming out next year and now that Spider-Man is in the Hammer Wars with the Avengers, and going to be in X-Sanction & Avengers vs X-Men. The guy is busy like Wolverine, clearly. So if anyone can give out any recommendations great and thanks.

DC Characters who should get a Live-Action Movie

I noticed that marvel has a lot of live action movies based on their characters like Spider-man, Daredevil, X-men, Ghost Rider, Blade, hell they even released a Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk that are leading up the Avengers movie.

With DC Comics, most of the live action movies star Superman and Batman. I think they should make a better Green Lantern movie, cause the Green Lantern movie kinda sucked. I think they should make a live action Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Arrow. I keep thinking they should do this so they can make a Justice League movie. They could make a Aquaman movie but sounds like a waste. I imagine the movie coming out introducing Martin Manhunter or Cyborg into the movie & they team up to fight Starro or Darkseid. Weather they decide the original or the new 52 version of the Justice League.

I mean they've made so many Superman & Batman movies that its crazy. I think after Man of Steel comes out, they should make a Superman/Batman movie to pay a tribute to their partnership in the comics. It can be a trilogy. First one of them teaming up for the first time their first meeting, second can be like public enemies and the final one be meeting up with Wonder Woman & facing a powerful foe like Brainaic or Doomsday. Its a thought. What do you guys think? Think its a good idea or not?

Mon-El Comics & Where is he?

Superman is one of my favorite characters of all time. I have grown to respect his supporting cast & some of his enemies. One of the supporting cast members that caught my eye was Mon-El. Mon-El is like Superman but different due to being from a different planet & having different weakness. I think he is a pretty well respected character. From meeting Superboy to joining the Legion, being revamped a couple times, to protecting Metropolis while Superman is away to joining the Justice League to being back into the Phantom Zone then joing the Green Lantern Corps.

So I was wondering two different things.

  1. What are some good comics to read that involve Mon-El.
  2. What happen to Mon-El in the New 52? Is he going to be appearing anytime soon in the Legion Comics or sometime in the Superman Comics?

I can possibly see him appearing in Action Comics or in Superman but will see. Hopefully they bring back like they can hopefully back Ben Reilly.

Wonder Woman Comics

Just out of curiosity, are the Wonder Woman comics any good? I'm just curious if she has any good storylines or the worth the time and money to read and buy.

It doesn't matter what time period their from. It could be from The Golden, Silver, Bronze, or Modern age of comics or even the New 52 Wonder Woman. I'm just curious that's all.

Hal Jordan's History

Hal Jordan is one of my favorite DC Comic characters & my favorite Green Lanterns.

Now I'm probably not the only one who's thinking this, but What has happened to Hal's history? Is the Secret Origin stroyline in contiunity, or his time During being Parallax. Plus is any of Green Lantern comics that started in 2005 still part of the offical storyline or they said the hell with it?

Plus how much time passes in comics? Its 2011 now but some comics say like one week later after a big storyline so whats the deal?

Black Ops in Comics

I've noticed when the Heroic Age began, Marvel cancelled & relaunched certain titles. They cancel some titles & relaunched or began a new series. One of the titles I have noticed that caught my eye was the Secret Avengers. It caught my eye to see a group of Avengers being called the Secret Avengers. Espically since Captain Steve Rogers was leading the team. Leading a team of heroes to do top secret missions, that sounds exciting to read.

Later on, I noticed another team that was top secret to nearly everyone except a few X-Men, like Cyclops. The team was the X-Force lead by Wolverine. Wolverine leading a group of mutants to do what other X-men wouldn't or shouldn't do. Kill. After the Second Coming storyline, Cyclops ordered the team to disband & never to be put together again. HOWEVER, Wolverine reassemble the team behind Cyclops' back, leading to the team to be an another ongoing series called Uncanny X-Force. Wolverine said their first rule, NO ONE SHALL KNOW THE TEAM EXISIT. Their first mission in the Uncanny X-Force series was to kill Apocalypse.

Earlier this year, Marvel released a new ongoing series called Venom starring Flash Thompson as a new black ops Venom that the government controls. Flash can only wear the Venom suit for 48 hours or else he can be controlled by the suit.

I really think its interesting to see superheroes doing very Top secret stuff. I know I only said a few series that involve black ops but are they're any others? Any older comics or storylines that involve Black ops in comics?

Osborn's Teams

Durning the end of the Secret Invasion storyline, Norman Osborn, a.k.a. The Green Goblin, became some kind of hero. Durning the Dark Reign, Osborn formed His own: Avengers, X-Men, H.A.M.M.E.R., Thunderbolts, and The Cabal.

These teams are Osborn's messed up version of superhero teams. The Cabal being the Illuminati but evil, Thunderbolts being a hit squad, H.A.M.M.E.R. being S.H.E.I.L.D., The Dark X-Men being some of X-men villains working under Osborn. The Dark Avengers being some of differnet Avengers enemies posing as them, like Daken being Wolverine, Mac Gorgan (who was Venom at the time) being Spidey when he was in the Black Suit, and Osborn being the Iron Patriot, One of Tony's suits with Cap's colors. Eventually, Osborn's Reign came to end durning the Siege storyline.

Now Osborn is back & he's reforming his Dark Avengers & H.A.M.M.E.R.. I've noticed his New Dark Avengers that some members are similar to the original Dark Avengers, and a few different ones.

Similar between both Incarnations

  1. Osborn is in charge of both incarnations
  2. Both teams have a Black Suit Spider-Man. First team has Mac Gorgan posing as Spidey while he was Venom. Second team has Ai Apaec being a six-armed Bblack Suit Spider-Man
  3. Both Have a Wolverine. Woverine's son Daken being Wolverine in the first Team. The Gorgan being Wolverine in the second team.
  4. Both have a Hawkeye. Bullseye being Hawkeye in the first team. Second team has Clint Barton's brother being Hawkeye.
  5. Both have a Ms.Marvel. Ms. Marvel's enemy, Moonstone being Ms. Marvel in the first team, Superia being Ms. Marvel in the second.
  6. Both teams have a God on the team. Ares, The God of War, being with the first team, while Thor's clone Ragnarok, The Cloned God of Thunder. being with the second team...... as soon as he's ready that is.
  7. Both have really powerful fighters in both teams. The Sentry/ The Void with the original while Skaar, the son of the Hulk, with the second team.
  8. Both teams are being used for his own goals.

Differences between both Incarnations

  1. The first Dark Avengers were praised as heroes, while the second one will likely be hated.
  2. The original team had Sentry/The Void as the secret weapon. Ragnarok will likely be his secret weapon or Skaar being his ace in the hole.
  3. The orignal team was called The Avengers in the comic world but to us are the Dark Avengers. The 2nd incarnation will likely be called the New Dark Avengers like on New Avengers Vol. 2 18.
  4. The second team might have their own Avengers Three in a way. If Osborn retrieves his Iron Patriot Armor, it will cover Cap & Iron Man and once Ragnarok will be covering Thor. Unless he makes his own Super Soldier.

As far as I can tell, Osborn is willing to have someone pose as his arch-enemy in both teams. He must have done this to piss off Spidey.

Hell, it might be kinda interesting, yet stupid, if he had a Secret Dark Avengers. If he does have his own Dark Secret Avengers, then it could spell trouble.

Trade Paperbacks

I like comics and its really conveniet for me to get the trades of comics. Doesn't matter if its hardcover or softcover. but I have three questions reguarding Trades.

1. How come hardcovers are released first then softcovers? Can't they release both at the same time?

2. After a storyline is finished, How come it takes a while to be collected into a single volume? For Example, Avengers Vol.4 13-17 & New Avengers Vol. 2 14-16 are being collected into a single trade called Avengers: Fear Itself. All the issues have been released so how come they can't release it like sometime in late November or December instead of January 25, 2012?

3. How does Barnes & Noble & Wikipedia know the release dates for trades coming out next year? If you look on the websites, it will tell you which date but on Marvel's Website, it doesn't go that far but DC Comics website does. Strange huh?

X-Men Titles

In 1963, Marvel released a comic bookcalled The X-men. SInce then, The X-Men have grown popular with unique characters like Cyclops, Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, Angel/Archangel, Apocalypse, Mister Sinister, etc.

They also have a VERY WIDE RANGE OF X-MEN TITLES from X-Men to X-Force and even some titles starring characters like Wolverine, X-23, Deadpool, Daken, and Cable. Even some very popular storylines like Onslaught, Second Coming and now recently Schism.

Since Schism, the X-men have split up, resulting with 8 different titles. 4 with Cyclops, 4 with Wolverine.

My question is from 1963 to today, which are the good X-Men titles? I know everyone has their own opinion about which one is better. I ask cause I'm curious to see what everyone says and I want to know which ones are worth buying. I know they have good storylines that involve certain titles but after the big storyline, which ones were worth reading before the next big event?

Personally, I like Wolverine, and his X-force team and his X-men team. But I'm also a bit tempted to buy certain titles cause of the characters involvement with the team. This is probably not the best idea on how to spend my money, but I would like to know which titles are worth reading.

Bad guys recieving their own comic series.

I have been reading comics for a while now & I have noticed in recent years, that some of the major bad guys are recieving their own ongoing series or limited series or a one-shot. I think its cool how some of them are getting their own title. It kinda gives readers a chance to see things from the bad guy's eyes like with Lex Luthor and his own mini-series: Luthor: Man of Steel, or Osborn for the Norman Osborn.

I'm just wondering, which major villains have recieved their own title? I kinda think it might be nice to see which ones have their own title & which ones who dont one should get one.

I'm just thinking of two lists. One list has the Villains with their own comics & the other has the Villains who should have their own title but don't.

If anyone likes the idea cool, if not oh well.
