Warn of the Red or How Animal Man is awesome again 0

The New 52. Bold new era for the DC Universe, new elements to old characters, accessible enough for anyone out there to understand and grow fond off.  In a day and age where The Walking Dead, American Vampire and Kick Ass are some of the most popular books in the market enters Animal Man, from the mind of the fantastic Jeff Lemire about the life and times of  Buddy Baker on and off superhero/activist/actor who balances his family life with the bizarre mythos of his powers.  PLOT: Jeff Lemire is ...

Fantastic Finale 1

Only a few weeks have passed since the epic "casualty" in Fantastic Four #587. Now that we know who is the member of Marvel's First Family who died, we are presented with the aftermath and the subsequent mourning. With one more issue to tie things up (before F.F #1), Jonathan Hickman breaks the news to the family and friends, the result is a spectacular tale of family, memories and a very emotional goodbye for the fallen Torch. Let's take a look at Fantastic Four #588:  PLOT:  The Four are finis...

What The Hell Happened to X-Force? 7

Las time we saw the X-Force team, they had just departed the moon after killing Apocalypse, even though his new form was one of an innocent child. Now back on earth, the team deals with the latest mission's resolution while Fantomex makes an eerie visit to "The World", while the new threat to the team seems kind of cool it is not nearly as interesting as the "Apocalypse Solution" was. Let's take a look at Uncanny X-Force #5:  PLOT Rick Remender is a fantastic writer, he can create a really engag...

A Fitting Conclusion to the Apocalypse Solution 3

Rick Remender finally closes his opening arc, The Apocalypse Solution, where our team of A-List mutant strike force decide to take out one of the  biggest threats in the mutant universe: Apocalypse. Over the course of three issues we have learned the team dynamics, introduced to a very lethal incarnation of Apocalypse's Horsemen (The Final Horsemen) and the fact that Apocalypse himself has reincarnated and is still A CHILD. In this issue all plot elements come to an end and we are finally learn ...

Three: Conclusion or How Hickman Killed the Fantastic Four 4

Jonathan Hickman is bringing the Fantastic Four franchise a brand new breath of fresh air in "Three" by doing the unthinkable; killing off one member in the team. On issue #587 we finally know who will be the "casualty", with Reed trapped in a dying Nu-World, Susan in the middle of the Atlantis fiasco and the Johnny-Human Ben duo facing another Annihilation wave in the Baxter Building, things look dire for all of them...but only ONE of them DIES. I want to calrify now that I WILL NOT SPOIL WHO ...

The Grand Finale! 0

Batman and Robin. Grant Morrison's last issue. Barbatos, Doctor Hurt, The Joker, Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne and the original Batman all converge in this spectacular final installment of Morrison's Batman and Robin. Let's take a look at this issue:  PLOT: What does it take for a comic to have the nickname of milestone, is it the number of issues it has reached? Is it the quality of the storyline? Is it a bit of both? No answer is clear, but the one thing that was clear to me after reading this w...

Not a great issue...at all. 0

Amazing Spiderman Thrice Monthly is coming to an end. No longer will we get mediocre stories while we wait for Joe Kelly or Fred Van Lente and the occasional Mark Waid to write a good two issue arc. Instead we get stuck with Dan Slott, which even though I accept was born to write Spiderman he is most of the times just an average writer. I expect him to redeem himself and make Spiderman awesome again on Big Time but until then...meh. Let's take a look at this issue:  PLOT: Mark Waid is a comic bo...

Superman back to basics again! Does it work? Yes...brilliantly! 1

Superman: Earth One is the first of DC's new original-allstar created-graphic novels. The concept is to re-create classic DC icons like Superman and Batman as if they were "born" in our day and age. Top talent in the comic industry will handle this re-imaginings, in this case, Superman was born again thanks to JMS (J. Michael Stracynski) scripting and Shane Davis on art. The result is one of the best new graphic novels released in years. Of course it has some faults but overall Superman: Earth O...

Handsome Grimm or Lackluster Galore 0

The acclaimed Hickman run continues as "THREE" introduces the concept of "Handsome Ben" in an issue that left me with mixed feelings. Although the Ben Grimm bits were actually a very enjoyable and touching story...it does not seem appropriate for an arc that promises to "kill" or at least get rid of one member in Marvel's first family. Let's take a look at this issue:   PLOT :Hickman is great, his run feels like Stan Lee's classic arc on FF, one that basically created "the concept" of something ...

Diggle is really killing me with this one. 2

Shadowland is four issues in and already moments away from reaching its conclusion. My thoughts? Wow it hasn't been a nice ride AT ALL. Tie-ins are in general a bunch of bad books, the main Daredevil series itself has remained kind of dull and focusing  (In my opinion) way to much on the supporting cast (Foggy climbing a tower? Come on!). Ever since Bullseye was killed things have been boring and with one more issue to go it seems boring will continue to domain Shadowland. Let's take a look at t...

Kirkman paves the road for "No Way Out" 0

Ever since our survivors got to safety in the Washington Community, Robert Kirkman has planted a few seeds that have been watered and growing constantly in the past issues, mainly the menace of a group scouting nearby for the community, the constant danger that Glenn and Robinson have to pass to get groceries, the ticking bomb rivalry between Douglas and Rick for leadership in the community and the menace of a man known only as Davidson. Over the past four or five issues he has addressed most of...

Millar Goes Back To Basics. Well done! 0

Mark Millar is known now a days for two things: Civil War & His creator owned line "Millarworld". It was "Millarworld" that brought us fantastic concepts like Wanted and War Heroes, this line also brought some more criticized work (even though it was great) like Kick Ass and the unbelievably bad Nemesis. Some may argue his best creator owned titles were the early stuff like Wanted and some others enjoy the movie optioned super violent Kick Ass. But we can all agree that even his recent creat...

Bruce is back and he doesn't even know it. 2

Uhm Spoiler Alert? Yeah thanks for the heads up DC, Bruce Wayne The Road Home is a series of One Shots that began this week with multiple books bearing the banner, this is awful because that banner is the only spoiler alert you will get when reading these issues. So before you make a huge mistake and actually READ this, please bear in mind that a little guy by the name of Grant Morrison is on the verge of finishing his tale about The Return of Bruce Wayne, where he will actually bring Bruce ba...
