My Bookshelf Books
These are the trades and graphic novels I have placed on my bookshelf mixed in with the regular books. Depending on the character/creator, they are in alphabetic order based on that factor.

These are listed under Aaron, Jason. This was from when I had extra money and would buy a trade of something I had heard of and decided to try out the trade of. Thankfully, Vertigo prices their first trades at $10.
I enjoyed the first enough to continue on. Then, ran into financial difficulties.
I bought the trade of this mainly because I was collecting Witchblade.
From the Barnes & Noble softcover version. Love me some Spider-Man and reading the beginning was cool. I also like having color comics in color.
This trade was bought at a convention. Having not previous read the storyline, but having read Spider-Man for a decade this was an important story to read.
I fell off of the cosmic Marvel stuff right around this time due to financial reasons. So, when I found this cheap at a convention I was happy.
The softcover version from Barnes & Noble. The funny thing is I bought all of the softcover Marvel Masterworks while in San Diego for Comic-Con, but at a book store, not in the convention.
I love finding trades of important story lines at conventions, such as this one.
Filed for Azzarello, since I list writers first, and this is his series. My cousin actually sent me a trade for Christmas. I sent her Sleeper in return. I then bought all of the trades of 100 Bullets and began picking up the individual issues.
This trade was huge, and I believe was the actual trade I received. It also is a good jumping on point as most of it is self contained.
The stories kept getting better.
Continuing my collection of 100 Bullets.
I was also loving how apart from Hang Up, every title had the numbering of the volume in the title in someway.
This almost caught me up. There's one more trade I need to have the full story, but have been waiting to find it for cheap at a convention.
Still using Azzarello as writer. I received this as a secret santa present.
I need to buy some more of the Vertigo crime series. I loved this one, and read it around the time I read The Hunter, which work well together as crime fiction.
From here, the comics are back to being filed under Batman. This was from San Diego, but I didn't actually buy it. Someone left it in our room the last night and no one claimed it when we were leaving so I took it rather than leave it. Good story, too.
I found the big hardcover of this at Barnes & Noble for $6. Great deal.
One of the first trades I bought. Fell in love with Batman and with comics.
Found at a convention. It reminds me I need The Long Halloween.
One of my earliest trades, and my introduction to Grant Morrison.
Another of my earliest trades and introduction to Batman. I do like how the trades don't make mention on the outside that they are an arc from Legends of the Dark Knight. So, they look more stand alone since they don't have them numbered. Which is smart, since they are stand alone.
Picked this up and the other over sized graphic novels all at one Dragon*Con. Brilliant story and the fact that it is a possible origin for Damien makes it all the cooler.
This was another early trade and early comics I had. Interesting story, and pitting Batman against a predator is a cool story telling device.
I have Act 1, which was another comic left in our room at San Diego. The one good thing is I was missing one issue of Catwoman from this story line and it just happened to be in this trade. So, it all worked out.
Then, back to filing under writer. I have about half of the issues, and so bought the Omnibus when it came out. Over size, hardcover, and awesome. This was Bendis at his best.
After getting into Bendis I went back and bought what trades of his I could find at conventions. This Bendis is so different from his Marvel work, and has his art too.
I have Who Killed Retro Girl. My first issue was the infamous monkey sex issue. And i went back and purchased most of the back issues and this trade.
Part of my Bendis trade kick.
Total Sell Out, a collection of small strips Bendis created for various papers and such.
a complete lowlife, Brubaker's written and drawn autobiography.
After buying Sleeper, I went back and found this trade. Not as strong as Sleeper, but a good introduction to the series.
Out in the Cold came out at the right time for me to pick it up, and then start collecting with the next issue. Still one of Brubaker's best works.
Picked this up at a convention. I had been unsure of the series when it came out, was intrigued but not interested enough to search out the other volumes.
Received this for a Secret Santa present. Loved it and started picking up the other volumes when I could.
Bought this at a convention after getting the first volume.
Bought last year at Chicago Comic-Con.
Bought in Chicago. Still loving it and plan on picking up the rest if I ever get money.
One of my earliest trades. There's prostitution?
This trade was in the $5 bin at last year's Chicago Comic-Con.
This had a Glen David Gold story in it, which made it doubly worthwhile.
Picked up all of these at conventions for $5. Great old Roy Thomas Conan action.
Continuing the Roy Thomas Conan stories.
More Conan.
I actually bought this one last, because Red Sonja is popular.
Conan continues.
The continuing adventures of Conan.
My last Conan for now. Again, it was hard to find due to Red Sonja's inclusion.
Possibly my favorite book on my shelf. Cooke is brilliant at adapting the material and his art is so good.
After getting the free comic book day issue I found the trade and grabbed it.
Feral City. Another convention purchase.
The first collection. Another book I bought the first trade (hardcover) of, and picked up the next issue right after. Loved it.
Picked up at a convention. Been wanting to read it.
I bought both of the sequels in issues over my love for Ennis, so went back and bought this trade.
Started buying Preacher late in the run, started back at the beginning, but when I have remembered to look, haven't found volume 2 yet.
I bought this with the "special cover" from amazon.com. Was mad that the special cover meant there was no dust jacket. That's not a special cover, that's no cover.
I think I found this at a convention. Beautiful either way.
Picked up the trade a few years ago. I actually started reading Gaiman's books before his comics.
Picked up a few years ago at a convention. Great Gaiman storytelling.
My first Gaiman purchase. Beautiful over size hardcover.
After buying Endless Nights I went back and bought this. Will continue to buy the series when I can find it cheap or have money.
Actually the London New York Hell collection of the Gen 13 and Bootleg annuals.
Bought the trade a while ago, shortly after the movie came out. Weird, weird story.
Picked up cheap in Chicago last year.
Picked up the trade in Chicago last year. Been wanting to get the older Kirkman storiess.
The first 8 volumes. Love, love, love the series.
The Dork Ages trade. Purchased it and a plush Skull from Kurtz at SDCC.
The Image Comics Hardcover, which was supposed to be the 10th anniversary but turned into a 13th anniversary. It was bought for the Dragon origin which has since been republished several times. Larsen's name is first on the book so he gets top billing.
The Possessed trade. I have since collected every issue of the series but at the point I bought this I was just getting into the series.
Picked up at Dragon*Con. Love the large size and a great introduction to The New Mutants.
Brilliant Claremont story, one of his best. And the size is so perfect for it. Picked up at a Dragon*Con.
From my Mignola collection.
I fell in love with Hellboy around the time of The Island and bought every trade available.
Continuing the Hellboy kick. All of these were also bought for full price, which not many of my trades have been.
Still more Hellboy.
And still more Hellboy.
For some reason I thought I had volume 5 and so skipped buying it. Still need to pick it up to finish everything. I have every issue following this.
I love this hardcover. The book is printed double paged per page so there is no crease in the middle since every part of the series was a double page spread. Picked this up with a gift card after Christmas so I could read it before the movie came out.
Picked up Ronin at a convention since it is Frank Miller. Strange story.
The first volume before they added The Hard Goodbye to it. Great story, and again wonderful when with the movie.
Bought before the movie, just happened to get the right story. I went panel for panel one time with the two volumes reading and watching. Very close adaptations.
Picked up at a convention. I went wild with Alan Moore works.
From the Moore collection. Interesting story, and the appendix is cool.
Again with an interesting story, that is made great by the appendix.
Part of the Alan Moore kick. Awesome book i read before the movie.
I bought this when it came out, wanting Watchmen in an awesome format. One of the prides of my collection.
Grabbed the first trade at a convention. Heard so many good things about it.
Picked up the trade years ago at a convention. Now, the character is actually somewhat important.
Found the first trade at a convention. Interesting story.
The six volumes. Love Scott Pilgrim.
Picked this up new, loved it. But the trades were too far behind for me to catch up in issues.
Bought each of these as they came out. I hoped the trade sales would help keep the series going.
Last one I bought as the series was canceled right after buying this one. I still mean to pick the other trades up, but it was so good of a series I didn't want to see it end.
This is a great story. Picked up at SDCC when it came out brand new from where they were selling it. Well worth the full price.
Found at Comic-Con for fairly cheap. I had been wanting to get this, being a big fan of Rucka's prose. Not as good as his novels or best comics, but not bad either.
The first volume, Operation Broken Ground. Great Rucka storytelling.
More great Rucka storytelling. Have avoided the movie.
Had to pick this up after reading Whiteout. Not quite as good, but still a fun story.
Picked up the manga size version when it came out. Cheap price and great store (I already owned the issues). This was great for giving to others to read.
Bought the manga size version. I had not read this before. Fun little story.
