  • In my mind, Joe Mad has no peer. He has this wonky superhero meets manga style that fits the comic book medium gloriously. He's had a lot of different things going for him though, so tragically drawing comics hasn't always been his top priority (I'm looking at you, Battle Chasers!). From time to time, he'll come back and do the odd project for Marvel. Whenever that happens, I instabuy his book regardless of the story.

  • Ah, Jim Lee. The man never stays on anything for long, but whatever he does certainly leaves an impression. His biggest strength lies in the 1-2 page spreads. If you need a wallpaper, you look through this guy's body of work. Became a fan of his on Gen 13.

  • Of Calvin & Hobbes fame. Mr. Watterson absolutely got me more interested in comics. His art and storytelling was just remarkable. In truth, this is a guy that could have drawn or done anything. Much to the disappointment of his fans and backers, he refused to fully commercialize his product and retired relatively early.

  • Incredible artist. Has worked on some fantastic collaborations with Jeph Loeb. His work appeared simple to me at first glance, but on further inspection there's a lot of subtle detail that's just a joy to take in. I really wish he'd come back to comics. Haven't seen anything by him in a while.

  • Probably the most consistently awesome artist in comics today. This guy is a machine and we are blessed for it.

  • Patented the "classic superhero look." When I think of most characters off the top of my head, they're drawn by George Perez.

  • Like Tim Sale, I grossly underestimated this guy when I first picked up one of his books. I quickly learned the error of my ways. People who don't give Aja a chance because he doesn't draw your typical muscle heads and big-breasted bimbos are really missing out.

  • Has a clean timeless style. I like people who draw this way. Bagley can draw anything and anyone...and has.

  • Manapul has made The Flash one of the prettiest books in the comics industry today. His work is an absolute joy to take in and look at. I have no doubt DC will put him on something like Superman or Justice League in the future. Until they do, Flash will be the beneficiary of this incredible talent.

  • Severely underrated artist. Mr. Grummett took off to pursue an independent career with his Superboy partner, Karl Kesel. Haven't heard much on that front, but I keep holding out hope.
