It hadn't been long that Ramza had left Ivalice to make a name for himself as a knight when he heard of the place known as Balamb Garden, and now he stood outside the massive structure, jaw agape in wonder as he stared at the mechanical fortress. "What kind of garden is this?" He said while watching as other students zipped around on hovering boards and moved about in steel carriages. Ramza had seen things like this before in Goug, but that was all ruins of an ancient civilization, he never had expected that anything like this would be real. "Surely this is a marvelous sight! There's truly nothing in all of Ivalice that compares!" He said thinking out loud as he finally worked up the courage to venture into the building. To think that this is a school! He thought as he scanned the crowded halls, searching for some method to find his way to the first year dorms.
Finally he saw a uniformed woman sitting at a desk, and he figure she might just know how to point Ramza in the right direction. "Excuse me ma'am, but perhaps you might be able to assist me? I have been enrolled here for my first year, and I would like very much if you could help me figure out where I should be going?" Ramza pulled from his pouch a small rolled up piece of parchment, unfurled it and then handed it over to the woman.
"Ramza Beoulve, is it? Just one moment I will chime for someone to give you a tour of the garden." The woman picked up a device and looked to be speaking to someone else who Ramza couldn't see, then turned back to him, "Someone should be down in just a second Ramza, why don't you have a seat and I'll point you out when they get here."
"Oh thank you very much! I am ingratiated to you. Not soon will I forget your kindness." Ramza spoke and bowed deeply, leaving the woman with a puzzled look. Ramza found a seat nearby, and waited patiently for his guide staring at the modern marvels and thinking, This truly will be a year of wonder.
