Essentially any human can become anything.. given stimulus and circumstance, you might as well argue that you could become any of batman's villains, so the argument you put forward is redundant... however your article is very entertaining. :)
I've only seen the first episode on Aliens so far.. and it was really neat.. they of course start with talking about where and how to find humanoid and earth like creatures and then move onto extremophiles... and then go one better and start to discuss non carbon based life forms and even life in places that seem totally impossible under the current rules we have for life right now.
Normally these shows stop at Earth 2.. but its a step up on those shows. Also the animated aliens are well thought out and photo-realistic for the most part.
From Wikipedia :
" I nto the Universe with Stephen Hawking is a 2010 science documentary televisionmini-series written by British physicist Stephen Hawking . The series was created for Discovery Channel by Darlow Smithson Productions and features computer generated imagery of the universe created by Red Vision. The series premiered on 9 April 2010 in the United States and started on 9 May 2010 in the United Kingdom with a modified title, Stephen Hawking's Universe (not to be confused with the 1997 PBS series by the same name ). "
Has anyone else here seen Stephen Hawking's Universe (aka I nto the Universe with Stephen Hawking)?
I've just caught the show for the first time and it's blown me away.. its first episode is a really wonderful examination of extraterrestrial life and doesn't stop at carbon based life forms for a change.
Theres some sharp 'walking with dinosaurs' like visuals of alien life forms that are pretty imaginative and do in someways resemble the kind of things you got on the cover of pulpy scifi books int he 50's adn 60's. I'm really impressed with the level of thought put into the show and is evidence of how far the Discovery channel has come that its making some quality programming thats less mass-appeal bangs and more quality and science.
To be fair the proposed British version got similar results in a test i saw on the news a few years back.
A few months back i was actually close to doing the US citizenship test and its pretty tough and i asked several co-workers to help me with the questions.. and they found them on the hard side.. like most things.. when you live somewhere knowing the exact structure and history down to the dates is not strictly necessary but if you want some sort of measure as to the kind of person you are letting in to the country you want to give them a test that really does test them.
239. In what city does Chastity become a vampire? A: London .... In 'Theatre of Pain 1' 1976, bitten in the back of a tour van by a vampire while looking for a drumstick.
236. Lady Death is currently under what special comics imprint dedicated to her? A: Boundless
So any Dawn fans out there? I've been away from the comic book scene for a while and its seems like theres been little in the way of Dawn related material since the Three Teirs sequence (the last Dawn i read).
I've checked out Dark Ivory and am not really impressed, which is odd as i am usually really invested in anything the mighty Linsner does... not 100% sure why but i'm just not digging the storyline and to a slight degree the artwork.. which again is normally his strongest point. I think its the overly rich colour of every panel.. when in Dawn there was often a lot of white space and metaphysical stuff for interpretation.
Anyways.. my question is.. Who out there likes the Goddess of Birth and Re-Birth and would love to see a new series of our favorite deity botherer?
Deadpool has a lot to offer for sure as a character and certainly has something of an overrated halo around him. But strangely he's rarely the focus of the tv shows or films.. Its like he has a high profile in the comics community just not outside. I put it down to his rather (now anyways) generic outfit that could be any number of different heroes outfits.
Theres not much to make him standout visually its more his character.. so when they put 'him' in that terrible X-Men movie they managed to mute him even more to the point he wasn't really Deadpool at all. Mid you a film that casts Will i am (shudders every time i have to nearly spell that tits name) as a hero.. let alone as an actor.. well.. i think I've already said it.
Oh and Green Lantern is by far the most overrated.. not to mention over powered.. a ring that can do anything you can think of :S not to mention a goofy name 'Lantern' i ask you.. when was this guy born the 1940's! ;) |lets up date him to the 21st century... the 'Lime Laser-Pointer' with the ability to annoy people in carparks.
It has to be more along the lines of Attempted Murder surely if they are found to be alive and well after a failed attempt they recover from.
If its totally ignored in the continuity then no murder took place in that particular universe.
I think the grey area is when the murder took place and the writers are just too lazy or not clever enough to figure out an excuse and leave it open.
Thankfully comics have seem to realized that most deadly of pace killing devices.. the court room drama.. show me a court room film that didn't drag like a sack full of T-800 endoskeletons.
