2.5?!! Oh Babs, you're so hard to please... I guess you're not a huge fan.

Nothing happened? Except for John Stewart and his cadre taking out a big foe and SAVING THE WHOLE WESTERN SEABOARD! Ahem! (BTW John totally deserves more page time like this.) Also there was all the history, and the avatar reveals, which won't mean much if you're not into the GL mythos, but I digress.

Let's remember that Geoff Johns said like a year ago that the BN story would be self-contained in its 8 issues, and all the GL, GLC, and tie-ins would be background material, not crucial to the main story. If all one cares about is BN, you can skip this. GL fans oughta get it.

And oooh the pretty colors (4 inkers, 3 colorists). Woweee!

Think about it:

FEAR of DEATH.

No living creature wants to die. If we look at the story allegorically, perhaps Sinestro, as the representative of fear, is the perfect candidate to save all life from Nekron (death). Fear, more than any of the other emotions of the spectrum, may be the most powerful and fitting in this context. And anyways, I, for one, love a good plot twist.

If he does save the universe, does that redeem him for his past? Maybe. Will he stay a White Lantern post-BN? I don't think so.

@KRYPTON :
Ugh! You are such a dinosaur. Hate is so over!

It's great when lesbian, gay, and other marginalized communities are positively represented in comics. These two are great characters who happen to be lesbians. Their book is about their journey. Their sexual orientation is just a part of that.
I know Marvel did it with Northstar a while back, but there seems to be a shortage of gay male characters. Do publishers consider lesbian characters to be more palatable and marketable than gay ones?

I dunno much, but the art, though "difficult," kinda reminds one of Frank Miller's Dark Knight, no?

It's a shame about Joe Q's lack of, uh...fortitude.

The Tea Party "movement is trying to sell itself as grass roots, but it's really upper crust. They are trying to steal the image of the anti-war movement to use in their media games. What it comes down to is: the rich ruling elite don't wanna change and don't wanna share. They all get Orange Lantern Rings! We are so overdue for extending free health care, in some form, to the poor and working class. Every other developed (and many a developing) country has done so. Sadly, I suspect there is also a fair amount of racism bubbling beneath the surface of their Obama-phobia. But I digress...

Let's Overcome Our Fear of politics in comics! From persecution of mutants to registration acts, they've been an occasional element in comics since forever, and I'm cool with that. What counts to me is good writing, use of symbolism, allegory, and layers to tell an interesting story, not simplistic preachiness. Complex characters, not two-dimensional ones. And Killer artwork!

Babs, thanks for bringing up this topic, and I appreciate your neutrality - now that's good journalism!

I don't know what "it" is, but it must be powerful to snatch Parallax. I don't think it's Hammond because he seems really upset/afraid about "it" having Parallax. I hope it's something new we haven't seen yet.

Heroic Age? Seriously, we're back in the all-male, caucasian age. I thought we were moving forward.

Luke Cage should have stayed on the team, let someone else lead the Thunderscrubs (Why not Hawkeye? He started out as a villain, if I'm not mistaken).

Also Ms. Marvel should have stayed, so Spider-Woman wouldn't be the only woman.

Is it too early to shine a light on DOCTOR VOODOO? I don't think so. Lovin' his series, btw.

This doesn't really tickle my fancy. The art looks great, though.
Anyway, more spotlighting of female characters for female readers can only be a good thing.
