Cover: I liked the cover a lot. Art: The art was gorgeous.  I found myself stopping during the story many times admiring the art and backgrounds.  Even the citizens of Metropolis were interesting.  Story/Plot: Supergirl is dealing with a lot of pain after what happened to New Krypton.  I thought the emotions conveyed were appropriate.  It has been, I believe, a month since the big war happened.  She has already shed her tears.  I am happy to see her relationship with Lana is continuing.  The sce...

Damn the ending... 0

Cover: I loved the cover! I saw Atrocitus and Dex-Tar and I it made me very happy.  Art: The scene where it showed the returned from Brightest Day was beautiful.  Every page a masterpiece!  Plot/Characterization:  Atrocitus and Dex-Tar visit New York.  The scene where Dex-Tar comes out on the subway car makes me smile so big!   Sinestro, Hal, and Carol contemplate the white lantern.  While some of this transaction was seen before in Brightest Day, I still enjoyed this.  And where these threw cha...

Cover: I did not like the cover.  I do like the art of Nicola Scott, but the battle armor was ugly and kept thinking of Rambo when I looked at it.  Art: As said above, I like Nicola Scott's art and apparently Travis Moore's as well.  The action scenes were very well done and only one part of the art besides the cover took me out of the story.  And that was the appearance of Lieutenant Zusen.  While she looked excellent, it just reminded me too much of Avatar.  Plot/Story: The Citizenry attack Wa...

Change of the Guard 2

I am not a Hulk fan.  I did like the last movie and I have a few storylines I have enjoyed from the Hulk, but overall I find him to be a boring character.  I especially don't like the Red Hulk and all the other Hulks that have been popping up.  I am happy with just one Hulk even though I dislike him.  I find the Hulk to be a villain and I was more of a fan of those characters that tried to stop him.   In this issue, an old Hulk villain dies.  Many Marvel characters and Hulk characters show up in...

A Case of Mistaken Identity... 0

This title is now in the continuity after Blackest Night and the JSA All-Stars split.  The new team move into a temporary base while dealing with inner turmoil, recovery, and an incarcerated murderer.  Liberty Belle shines here as the very angry victim of gossip and allegation.  Mister Terrific does what he does and it is cool.  The art and story are well done.  My only and one complaint is after the very recent Jericho storyline in other DC books I am VERY tired of possession and mind control s...

Arkham soon to destroyed again? 1

So Jeremiah Arkham is in works to repair Arkham Asylum again, but this time outside and inside forces are trying to disrupt this process.  I am getting pretty bored with the idea of tearing down and lifting up Arkham Asylum.  Apparently the place does not work.  The funders must be out of their minds (which at least one is) to fund a many times over proven failure like this asylum.  Jeremiah is the narrator for most of the book, but we are also shown one his workers, Alyce,  who is up to no good...

Down in the Bayou! 0

Phil Hester...All I can say is wow.  I have not reviewed a comic in a long time, but after reading this issue I am going to start again.  Hester has made an intriguing beginning for a new story arc here.  I am very happy with Jackie's direction now going after host bodies of his enemy, The Sovereign.  I do have two complaints that kept this issue from being 5 stars: 1) While I do like the art by Hester in the interior of this issue...I spent many moments wishing the art inside was as good as the...

Hell Has It's New Leader! 0

The War between Neron, Lord Satanus, and Lady Blaze is over.  In my opinion, this was better, grander, and more relevant than Final Crisis.  I say this because there are actual repercussions.  There is only one leader of Hell and Purgatory now.  Things have changed in the normal world and the underworld.  This book has the death a character, many changes in roles for other characters, and a character I hate has become tolerable to me: Lobo.  There is mystery for Blue Devil and Black Alice.  Ther...

Hal...tryin on the Jewelry! 0

This issue is part Rage of the Red Lanterns, Origins & Omens, and the upcoming Blackest Night and War of Light.  What a great issue written execellently by Geoff Johns and drawn beautifully by Ivan Reis! Hal Jordan, Green Lantern, is infected by the red ring and becomes a member of the Red Lanterns of rage after Sinestro kills Laira of the Red Lanterns.  It is cool to see Hal struggle not to kill Sinestro while under the influence of the red and this issue’s conclusion is cool with Hal, but ...

The Dark Avengers' First Mission! 0

After a brilliant first issue, Norman Osborn as Iron Patriot leads HIS Avengers’ on their first mission!  This issue was almost perfect for me.  The only problem I really had with it was that Deodato had Norman’s face look too much like Tommy Lee Jones…it just took away from the issue.  I also loved the 2 different covers: the first one as seen here just rocks and the second shows Moonstone’s machinations. Roll Call: Iron Patriot (Norman Osborn) is awesome as the new leader of the Avengers, H.A....

Stale Cracker! 0

This book has lost its flavor.  Similar to JSA, JLA has too many members for their writers to really focus on.  Apparently this is the JLA's last mission before Final Crisis.  If the Origins & Omens backup is to be believed then the JLA will have a major facelift soon.  I am all for it.  In this issue, the JLA and the Shadow Cabinet battle each other and the Shadow Thief.  Hawkman also shows back up to fight the villain and to show back up in the life of Hawkgirl much to the chagrin of Red A...

INTENSE! 0

Wow...this was probably the best issue of Hellblazer I have ever read! And that is saying something for this long running series.  John Constatine is entering into a new relationship with a girl named Phoebe.  I like Phoebe and hope she sticks around.  Also, John reacquaints himself with an ancient skin-shedder named Julian.  I like Julian so far...very creepy.  The art makes the whole book scary and Milligan's writing in superb.  John's entire chest is covered in a "scab" which is really like a...

The "Anti-Batman" Returns! 0

I love Prometheus especially from his first two appearances.  Prometheus is Batman if he had been raised by criminals.  Besides Prometheus's fighting capability and intelligence, he also can download information into brain.  He once beat Batman in battle by downloading the moves of 30 of the greatest martial artists ever including Batman to beat Batman.  After his defeat by Batman and Martian Manhunter I was wondering why Prometheus sucked so hard.  He was beaten by Green Arrow, the Birds of Pre...

Terror is Right...This Book is Frightening! 1

Frighteningly bad...the plot really sux...dialogue is worse...I am all for comics where villains are the lead, but these losers can't carry a book...or mini judging by the first issue...These villains are second generation of Copperhead, Persuader, Disruptor, Bolt, Clock King, and Deathstroke...while I love Ravager she was not good here...and the plot is kinda stupid...they work for the Dark Side Club capturing young heroes to fight in their arena...boring...and what a waste of the heroes they k...

No Flowers for You! 0

I love Cassandra Cain. I love seeing her back in this mini-series. Cassandra Cain returns as Batgirl  and on a path of vengeance against Deathstroke and David Cain (who both returned Batgirl into a killer during 52). She is joined by Ravager (Deathstroke's daughter) and Marque...on the sidelines helping her is Oracle. Nightwing still does not trust her and is after her and Cassandra and her team have to deal with super assassins with moves similar to her.I love this issue because Cassandra needs...

Looker Returns! 0

Chuck Dixon is an amazing writer and it pains me that he is leaving this series...next issue is his last. The detail he puts in his writing is really complex and I like that. No simple mysteries here. And Dougie Braithwaite has such beautiful art...he is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This issue's big event is the return of Looker. While I don't know much about this character, besides the fact that she is a vampire, she comes into the story seamlessly. Batman was as always a scene stealer...

Hush Returns! 0

While not as good as Batman: R.I.P., this new storyline that is connected to R.I.P. called Heart of Hush is still very good. This book reminds readers what is so good about Dr. Thomas Elliot. He is ruthless, smart, and dramatic. He is one of the best of the newer batch of Batman villains in the past ten years. Here we are reminded of his past and why he hates the Wayne family so much. Also we get to see Batman and Catwoman go up against a new Batman foe that will leave you searching for a moral ...

Excellent Issue! 0

"For the Last Time, I am not a Villain, I'm a Mother Fucking Good Guy!" Just one of the hilarious lines from this excellent book! Ex Machine continues to be a joy to read each month...and I for one will continue reading. Mitchell Hundred continues working to prepare New York for President Bush's arrival. Trouble on the other hand is sabotaging everything...even going so far as spray painting "Bush=Osama" on a building. Wow! This book is soooooo not for kids by the way...nudity, language, and adu...

A' Killing Frost Giants We Will Go! 1

What an excellent issue of Thor! Probably the best of this new run so far. This issue focuses very little on the title character, but rather on the other Asgardians and more importantly Loki. We are treated to a Balder adventure here...as well a romantic prelude for Kelda...a possible revelation that may rock Asgard...and a lot of dead Frost Giants. Also this book does very well in humor. How do the Asgardians respect human law? Do they know how to play basketball? All this will be answered. The h...

The Mission Becomes More Perilous! 0

Batman’s team is split in this issue. Batman is gathering heroes for a rescue op for some fallen team members in China. Metamorpho is stuck in space with zombies. Geo-Force lets everyone he meets know he is not in the JLA anymore. Katana is fighting for consciousness. Green Arrow is questioned. Grace fights for life. And besides some cameos and minor things with Brother I we have one of my fave Bat heroes…Batgirl, armed with a sword and trying to save her teammates…even though they don’t trust t...

Damn Nick Fury Always Disappearing! 1

After the brilliance of the last two issues, I am very disappointed with this issue. Nick Fury was the bomb in the previous chapters...Sentry is better in small doses...a full on focus on him is boring and stale. This issue is a closer look at the Skrull's plans to take out Sentry...because he is the major overpowered, mentally unstable, hero/villain of Tony Stark. While I did like reading the Skrull Jarvis's speech to the Skrull forces...it just wasn't enough to give it a higher rating. The art...

Remember Underworld Unleashed? 0

If you do then maybe you will agree with me that this issue's bad guy, Libra, is giving whomever will join his cause their heart's desire...be ready for some pumped up villains and some major changes...and possibly the death of a Leaguer in the future. Underworld Unleashed had villains selling their souls to the demon Neron. Final Crisis is villains worshiping Darkseid. UU had many developments that are even relevant today...such as Kid Devil, who gained powers from Neron but would lose his soul...

The Green Goblin Returns In A Big Way! 0

One of the few resurrections or bringing back a dead character that I have supported is Norman Osborn. I have enjoyed his return and his leading of the Thunderbolts without the mask, costume, and gimmicks of the Green Goblin. Even here the readers are treated to Norman's breaking down under psychic manipulation and giving speeches while nude. I have always viewed him as a mix between Lex Luthor and the Joker...this makes his reemergence as the Green Goblin a big deal to me. Yes he puts his costu...

Run, Jaime, Run! 0

Another installment of The Boys arrives and I am still happy with this series. Another good one for Dynamite Entertainment! I have been a fan of Garth Ennis since his Preacher days and I am not disappointed with his work here. This superhero satire brings to light something that bugs the shit out of me: superhero resurrections. Hughie comes face to face with a resurrected hero that he himself killed and their final battle is here. Oh and the funny part it is over Blarney Cock’s former hamster, J...

Who Is This Punisher? 0

Is Frank Castle Punisher here? I think not...the characterization is totally off. I have never ever ever seen Frank act this way...Faction is totally off on the writing here...all the while spinning a decent story that would work for any other vigilante with guns. The art is totally horrid and makes me want to puke all over it to give it some style and pizazz. Frank doesn't really look like Frank...he looks like a chubby pizza delivery man in a trench coat. Also when has Frank EVER been so sloppy...

Political Intrigue From The Last Election! 0

I really like Ex Machina. The way the storyline is set in the past and uses what happens to interject a fantastic character into politics and the world like Mitchell Hundred is fun and amazing...what a novel concept! Here we see the shadow of President Bush who is on his way to New York. We get to see what Hundred thinks of Bush and also the issue shows a one woman ad terrorist focusing on Bush. And hints at the 2008 election. Also this issue had some hilarious scenes and lines with Hundred trying...

Secret Invasion Reaches the Gods of Myth! 0

What an excellent issue! This book is exciting, funny, and great all at the same time. Herc teaches us a new phrase for going to the bathroom (draining the hydra) and shows on a map what he does while crossing the country to California (get drunk.) Athena is now with Herc and Amadeus and I really like her...she is wise and brave and very likeable. Her and Amadeus have many intellectual talks and I can see this continuing...maybe even changing Amadeus in the future. The Eternals were the ones Her...

Khund We All Just Get Along! 0

If you think the title of this review was cheesy...then check out the newest issue of Wonder Woman...I thought when Gail Simone became the new writer for this book that good stories would appear again...with this issue we have another example of pure crap.I hate most of the characters. Etta Candy is worthless...she is NOT entertaining. Nemesis needs to die...soon. The Khund were very annoying and the princess of the Khund made me want to shred the book. The Green Lantern that shows in this book,...

THE SKRULLS ARE COMING>>>THE SKRULLS ARE COMING! 0

I have to admit...I have been a harsh reviewer of Ms. Marvel...the book was stagnant when I started reading it with issue 15...it picked up the pace with the addition of Sleepwalker (one of my favorite characters from when I was younger) and Machine Man (completely hilarious character.) This is issue is what Ms Marvel should be all the time...emotional, funny, and just a good story. This is a tie-in with Skrull Infiltration...but it does it well and actually explains some of what the Skrulls are ...

The Conclusion to the Avengers Vs Doom Fight! 0

This series so far is the least enjoyable out of the three Avengers titles...the other two being New Avengers and Avengers: The Initiative. This issue was a huge improvement...the writing by Bendis is crisp and excellent. Bagley's art is amazing and Djurdjevic's art of Doom and Le Fey is completely and utterly beautiful. Here are my gripes...number one: the stupid fucking captions that slow the story down and are most times pointless. I mean when Doom is giving his big spill about why he is going...

Identity Revealed! 0

I usually don't like Batman Confidential...I have no real reason not to...I just find it boring...this storyline on the other hand is great...told mostly from the purview of the villain...this action heavy and intellectual story is high quality.Batman is really fun with his uneasiness with Nightwing...even slipping and calling him Robin. The relationship with Gordon, Bats, and Nightwing is really strong. Wrath is a cool villain...everything he does is from years of training that put him almost o...

When Gods War... 0

The end to a relatively boring mini...one thing I did like about this issue was that for characters to realistically fight pretty much a god...characters need to die...this does that but what I am disappointed in is that the sense of danger is not there and the inevitable returns are already set in motion...makes you think reading this was a waste of time.Overall the team-up between Stormwatch and the Authority was ok...Bendix being a really truly frightening power that could give the teams a ru...

New Warriors BLAH BLAH BLAH! 5

I have been reading this title since 1 and since then I have been patient with the slow pace and overall boringness...but after almost a year of this series I thought MAYBE I would care about the characters. I read a lot of comics, but with this series I care the least about the characters.I couldn't tell you all the character's names on the team...they bore me to tears and seem really out of character. Jubilee...how I used to think you were my favorite mutant...you are now irritating and boring...

Ultimate Issue for the Ultimate Human! 2

This is Mask of Tengu and I am back after a long hiatus. I am glad to be back...special thanks to Aztek (who inspired me to do reviews again) and to Gman and Red Lamp (who made the technical part possible). To the review and I am happy to be back and look forward to finally reaching that 200 mark!Do not be fooled by the cover again...Iron Man and the Hulk are not seen besides out of costume and Hulk form at the end. This instead is sooo much better. This is the origin of the title's villain...an...

Ultimate Loeb 1

I love Jeph Loeb's writing...he is great...and Joe Madureira's art was really beautiful. The Ultimate's are having a hard time coping with whatever has occured in between when we last saw them.I don't want to give spoilers because no one else has soooo...I will do what I can. Someone does die...not saying who and it is already mentioned in the summary above. It was a cool death and should be a spark for a war and possibly some major hero fights. The Ultimate Venom...don't know if it is the same o...

Buy your Cable manly X front mutant baby holders HERE! 0

HA HA...I couldn't help it...when I saw Cable wearing that thing I cracked up. :-) This storyline is very cool and I am really enjoying it. These attacks are very very strategic. Taking out all the telepaths and cancelling Wolverine's healing factor just to name a few. This chapter had a pretty good fight between the X-Men and the possessed Sentinels...Bobby was right in saying "Just like old times." Bobby was also pretty cool slamming the Blackbird into the back of that Sentinel's head...cool s...

New Reader 0

I have never read Kabuki before...so I decided I would give it a try. I am a big Bendis fan and I remember how he used to about David Mack all the time and I have Mack's Daredevil work and I thought it was unique and very well done. Well went to three different comic shops before I found a copy. I sat down to read this book not knowing what to expect...after a few pages I felt like the top of my head blew off there was so much information coming at me. It was wonderful. This book is fantastic! I...

So it seems this world has another Superman. We have one with the JLA and now one with JSA and we have a murderous one that wants to destroy all existence...that is not counting the Cyborg one with the Sinestro corps or that countless that are in Countdown: Arena. The JLA make an appearance to look over this new Supes. The issue follows Superman as he adjusts to this new world and befriends Power Girl...which I liked. The new Judomaster makes an appearance and she is pretty cool with a cool power...

Battle Royale! 0

While the ending was expected, but quicker than I thought would happen...I loved this issue. The battle of the X-Men and Marauders was epic...check it out...not even someone as badass as Wolverine gets away unscathed...everyone gets it...Then there was the continuation of the New X-Men vs The Redeemers with Lady Deathstrike...I love Lady Deathstrike and her newer look is great...I like the art here, but sometimes when they do far off shots I wasn't too pleased and the battle scenes could get mud...

YES! Cassandra Cain! 3

I love Batgirl! She is great...I read her series and was stuck on it...and while that series was shaky sometimes...she is a great character and I assume she has been asked to join the Outsiders...and that will be great. Things I liked and disliked about the issue are: 1) The New OMAC...I like it...I like that Brother I is still around and causing trouble here and in Countdown 2) I hate that Catwoman was not a team player and bailed 3) I hate that J'onn ran and told everyone at the JLA about what...
