I like Bane not Knightfall

I suppose this has been on my chest for a while. I was not entirely sure on how to express myself without it turning into some rage rant. Anyway's in this here blog, I shall explain my problems with Bane concerning Knightfall.

Now I want it to be known, that I don't hate Bane. I do like him. I think he's a good character when written well. Such as Secret Six version, I enjoy the heck out of Bane that. Pretty much most of the stuff he's involved in after he kicks his venom, and gets some more characterization/depth I like him in. Even if he does feel a need to remind everyone of how he broke the bat.

What I don't like is Bane in Knightfall. For as much as he's touted as being a brilliant and cunning villain. I see a bully and a coward, too scared to fight unless there's zero chance of him getting injured. I never felt like Bane deserved any respect, when his whole plan came down to "Wait until Batman can barely stand and then jump him" and the fact that he had his venom as well. And he keeps bragging about how he broke the bat. I feel like whenever he does that a little disclaimer should pop up that goes "After Batman was severely worn out, and Bane jumped him!" So to me I never felt like Bane deserved any respect, because I looked at it, and saw the work of a coward.

The fact that Bane ran or tried to run at least from Azrael after Az-Bats severed his venom tube, only enhanced this view.

This view was enahnced again by their rematches. If Batman vs Bane rematch would've been like, Batman decks him once and he's knocked out, I would have thought "Oh so he really did need to wear him down first." Only that's not how their rematch went. In every rematch they have, Bane usually gets the upperhand for a bit, and is overall considered about equal to Batman. Now if he's equal without venom, then why did he need to wear Batman down in the first place when he did have it? When it's pretty clear that he could have fought him straight up.

After nearly 20 years of there never once being a rematch where Batman cleanly wins against a venom pumped Bane, "beating the respect" out of him if you will. I just feel upset. I don't want the guy who only fought Batman after he was worn out, to suddenly be considered Batman's equal. I do admit it was hard to like Bane once he started appearing more.

So yeah overall, I like Bane, but I don't think Knightfall is anywhere near as good as the hype it gets.
