Kain wrapped his arm around her. The warmth of his touch so calming to her nervous banter. She listened to him speak and watched as he controlled the darkness around them creating images. It was an amazing display of skill, but Lyn had seen several bards tell stories the same way in the colony using fire and smoke. What made Kain's different was he used the very light and dark to create the images. Lyn watched as the pictures before her took shape into the islands and then the place of Kain's birth. It was beautiful and Lyn was sad to see what had happened to his own mother. Tiferia was murdered, but in a sense she was killed honorably and not desecrated by another man's lust. Kain's mother protected him like Tiferia tried to protect her. Perhaps if she did run when told everything would be different, but she would not know the man sitting next to her in the least if she did run. Several thoughts came to her now busy mind as she kinda drifted from the current reality. Lyn sighed heavily as she noticed Kain stopped talking. It caused her to come to her senses. It was far from being bored or not caring what Kain was saying. It was the whole ordeal coming to fruition. In a sense both of them became fugitives together. They had to face their accusers or run and keep running. Running was not her style and from what Kain had said and done he was not a runner either.
Kain finished speaking and he looked to her as he bite into more fruit. She saw how the juices ran down his chin and onto his chest. A few lustful thoughts came to her mind, but she kept them exactly in her mind. Lyn almost curled up into his arm where she felt at peace as he held onto her tightly. Her mind was filled with thoughts and all of them were just jumbled around in her head.
"How did you know my mother?" Her question as blunt as she could make it. She knew it would bother him to answer, but she had to know. She was curious as to how he knew her. If he had feelings for Lyn because she looked so much like her mom or was it real. Lyn had seen others in the colony fall for a twin sister after the sister they loved die. It was a kind of replacement tactic. Lyn did not want to feel like a replacement. She wanted to know and needed to know for her own heart's sake. Lyn somehow felt she was just being paranoid. Kain could easily lie to her.
Lyn placed her hand on Kain's chest and felt his heart beating strongly. It pounded beneath the flesh that concealed it. The heat from his skin against her hand made her smile a little. Her heart was almost being swayed by her mindless paranoia as she wondered more and more about why his heart really beat. Did it beat for her or someone like her? She wondered if Kain ever loved anyone before. He was quite old and had to have done so before. Did he still feel for the woman of the past? All these questions rose up as she felt his heart beat. Lyn shook her head to free herself of the unending thoughts of his past loves. He was here with her and that is what should matter to her, but still the thoughts remained clinched on her mind. She could feel herself almost feeling jealous of the women Kain might have had before. His caress and touch were electrifying and having the passionate moment was more than she could have ever imagined. Did the past lovers do better than her or worse than her? How did she compare to them? Lyn had never cared for such things and now she was a wreck thinking of them. It was maddening. She had to know from his lips whether it be for not or the paranoia was for some good.
Lyn wondered why she was getting so wrapped up in the mess of his past lovers. She looked at Kain in the eyes longingly wanting to know. She had to know. Her heart was urging her to calm herself, but her mind was just going nuts!
