I suppose I would say that I am in the spring of my comic Renaissance ever since I decided to rekindle my withering flame for comics last year with my avid participation of bidding on Ebay and my pressing want to experience the Young Avengers. I truly had left for a very long time, but now I’m back and couldn't be more excited over all the new happenings and range of characters that exist these days. Look at me talking like im 50 er something haha.
I have always been a fan of the X-Men from back in the 90’s when I was a little one watching the cartoon, and even read some of the comics, but for the most part I watched over reading. I totally enjoyed chubby Batman in the 90’s and who didn’t watch Spider man slinging through the city giving a pubescent girl one of her first hints into the kinds of things she’d get her jollies from. Though after a while, my taste matured and turned to darker areas of interest. Instead of keeping up with Saturday morning cartoons, I slept in and stayed up late to catch Spawn and late night MTV animation blocks just to get a taste of the darker side of comics and cartoons. I can’t believe I somehow missed the golden age of Vertigo comics while I was in this phase the first round about. Luckily I know now though!
Some of my favorite titles that I have been indulging include:
The Authority, The Young Avengers, Ultimate Spiderman, Anything with Daken, Anything with the Young X-men- Anole, Rockslide, Dust, Cipher, and Gentle will usually grab me as well, Wolverine the Best There Is, Sandman, Batman & Robin REBORN, The Enigma, Witch Doctor, Ultimate Spiderman, and anything that has Bizarro and Batzarro *they are freaking awesome* . I am also in the midst of reading pretty much everything in the new 52 (droped a LOT of stuff, but totally keeping Stormwatch, Red Hood, Teen Titans, Animal Man, Voodoo and possibly Batman and Robin, Aquaman, Demon Knights, New Green Lantern Corps and Batwing) and keeping up with the X-Men after Schism I'm loving Wolverine and the X-Men, but don't think I'll be fallowing Uncanny for long.
Favorite characters can be found in the titles listed above *especially if their name is the title *, but a special shout out goes to Nightcrawler, Gambit, Jason Todd, Abuse, and most recent Miles Morales! Odds are if it has some eye candy for a lady and mature in content with some dark twists and humor I’m probably a fan. On the other hand, I love me some diversity and action with good humor wins me over as well. I don’t mind fan service so long as the ladies and dudes who like dudes aren't forgotten, but I detest forced and overtly blatant scenes that are hyper sexed for no reason other than to be 99% unnatural because for some reason ferret backs are sexy now.
Besides my love for comics and the movies that spawn form them, I am an artist myself who thrives in the field of curveliciouos ladies and handsome dudes whether they are being obnoxiously romantic or just plain cool. It’s all good. I hope to have an artbook out within the next year and frequent as many conventions in my area as I can in cosplay, selling art, or just dressing swank getting my geek on. I’m also a huge anime fan and totally dig me some video games *still stuck on last gen consoles, but I’ve recently started pc gaming more* and if you want to know more about that, I’d love to talk with ya!
