I'm actually sorta sad the way this show has gone off the rails. Originally I was hoping for a Gotham Central kind of theme, with maybe small elements of foreshadowing the future Bat mythos. This would've worked better for TV. Instead we get a bloated and ridiculous show that doesn't really know what it wants to be.

This was awesome. Best issue in months! You can tell Azzarello's magic touch in this story. And the art... Jock delivers the goods.

@rideaspacecowboy: Good review. You nailed it in terms of how Rucka's establishing the groundwork here first rather than propelling the story forward. As for Checchetto's artwork, yes gorgeous stuff... especially the ships, wow.

@noj: Exactly how I felt, good but not as exciting as I thought it be. I thought the ending was sorta meh. Oh well Rucka's just getting warmed up! Things should pick up next issue. And yes the art is very nice.

Can't wait to get my hands on the Marco Chechetto variant cover for Star Wars Shattered Empire #1.

Can't wait. Been really enjoying this new direction. I like Tan's art better than some other people are mentioning, it's not stellar and doesn't detract me from enjoying the book. This new take on GL is different, interesting and a lot of fun.

The highlight of this issue for me was the art. Immonen has nailed the likeness of the characters but not so much that things look wooden, he strikes a balance which comes across very well. I found the story in this issue fell a little short....can't quite put my finger on it, maybe a bit too decompressed, enjoyable issue but just lacking a bit.
