Top 35 Legionnaires

I'm a long time Legion admirer and occasional reader. I'm finally trying to read up on the Legion. These are my top Legionnaires at the moment. I'm sure this list will change the more I read. This is basically an X-Fan's look at the Legion. I will be comparing a lot.

List items

  • Read the Legends of Legion issue focused on Umbra in the mid-90's and was hooked on Umbra/Shadow Lass.

  • Dawny and Wildfire were my favorite Legionnaires as a kiddo. I've always liked winged characters. Plus Dawnstar debuted around the same time I was born.

  • Becoming more acquainted Lydda over the past few months has made her one of my top three Legionnaires. I haven't read any 5 Year Later issues yet, but I've heard they treat Night Girl favorably. I hope so. Her power set could be used in a few fun ways. If I was writing the Legion, she would be a mainstay.

  • One of my faves mainly due to childhood nostalgia.

  • I connected with the X-Men books quickly as a youngster. Cockrum put Brin's aspects into Logan. I've always respected Timber Wolf as a Wolverine prototype, but honestly I like Brin a bit more. Especially nowadays.

  • Once again Kitty Pryde is one of my favorite characters of all time. I'm sure Claremont took a few pointers from Legion when creating her. Plus, I'm a softie for all phasing/ghosting type characters.

  • I remember Laurel rocking the Superman cape in the 80's. Plus I just read her first appearance and like the overall idea for her character. Too bad about the manhunter nonsense. Not looking forward to reading that.

  • Another X-Men template. What draws me to Ferro Lad is the back story about his creation. Shooter tried to create black Legionnaire and was shot down by editorial. So Shooter killed him off instead. Gotta love that.

  • I love me some telepaths. Mainly because of Jean Grey, I'll admit it. Even though Irma was, once again, created first.

  • Shapeshifting wild card. Love it. Probably the inspiration Professor X/Changeling. Yep. Another X-Men reference. Told you I was a fan.

  • Brainy. Heck yeah. Descendant of the classic Superman villian. One of the Legion mainstays.

  • Harmonia is a newer character, but so far so good. She has so much potential. Not to mention a good Storm wannabe.

  • A legitimate X-Men copy. One of the League of Super-Assassins whom where a knock off of the X-Men. I think Marvel won the knock off contest with the Imperial Guard.

  • Love me some stealth power sets, and I.K. II is my favorite Invisible Kid.

  • Legion founder and Magneto influence, I could be wrong, but that's the way it seems to me. If only Mags would be daring enough to rock Rokk's bustier.

  • Double your pleasure, double the fun. I miss the Trip. Not mentioning Madrox. Wait, I guess I just did.

  • Hey, a Superman knock off with an attitude. I'm not a big Supes fan. Mainly because I think he is overpowered. So the idea of only using one power at a time is interesting.

  • Hey another founding member. Technically we could say Storm shares a similarity. Just saying.

  • Hey, another Superman knock off, even a Superboy replacement, and I guess possibly even a founding member. Damn confusing Legion DC continuity.

  • Hey a Dawnstar knock off. Didn't see that coming. Loved her in Legion Lost.

  • I tend to dislike Superman and his dupes, but I've always like Supergirl.

  • Another fun character from DnA's run.

  • One of the coolest costumes and beards in comics.

  • Hey the inspiration for Giant Man and probably the namesake of Colossus.

  • A precog in a shiny metallic one piece bathing suit. Easy on the eyes.

  • He is starting to grow on me. Sunfire, anyone? I dunno?

  • Once again, a fun stealth character. Even she debuted before Ant Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know shrinking and growing were big sci-fi tropes back then.

  • A female Cham. Woot Woot!

  • Mastermi... er uh... Princess Projecta was awesome rocking the white hair.

  • Hey a straight up Jean Grey knock off. Pulling on my heart strings.

  • There was a Medusa, before Medusa. Plus the fun Spider-Girl name. I'm sure Sony Pictures think they own her movie rights too.

  • Black Magic Woman. Everyone! Air Guitar!!

  • Oh yeah... this guy. He may or may not have been there.

  • Oh a Supergirl, Superboy, Laurel Kent kinda knock off. Oh well. Kinda cool.

  • Mysterious. Potential.

  • And now for a little extra. Not an offical Legion member I know. A Cockrum character created for the Legion that got rejected. One of my top 3 characters of all time.

  • Another tip of the hat to Cockrum. Storm wasn't as well defined as Nightcrawler, but was she in the works while he was working on the Legion.
