Be proud of yourself. Those who argue that it's Gwen are liars. MJ and Black Cat are the two.

@MysterioMaximus:

BS. Peter dated Betty from issue #7 to issue #34 when she left. From issue #35 to issue #41 he kept thinking about her. That's why he kept brushing off Harry, Flash, and Gwen. Peter had even considered asking Betty to marry him.

And no, Gwen was not the "Girl Next Door". That's bs and propaganda. Gwen was a beauty queen (I think that meant prom queen back then). She acted like a snobby rich girl when she was first shown. The reason why she orginally became attracted to Peter was because he ignored when no other man ever did that (cliche!), and this is evidence because nearly ever guy shown is tripping over their tongues to be near her. She was no Betty; she was Veronica. In fact, when MJ was finally shown in issue #42, Peter and her were barely friends. It was when MJ was introduced into the gang that they dropped Gwen's sultry personality, but then they never gave her another one. She just became "Peter's future girlfriend" and then "Peter's girlfriend" after issue #58 or 59, but that wasn't even a solid relationship yet because Peter than hit her father, whom was actually Chameleon. It became serious in the #60s. But then there was nothing left for her to do. Her father died, she left to Europe (to give birth to Osborn's kids), came back, and did nothing until she was killed.

Also, Gwen did come back as a clone at the beginning of the orginal Clone saga. She had all her memories and feelings for Peter, but she saw that he loved MJ now. So yes, she died--but then came back like 20-30 issues later.

And MJ wasn't just flirting w/ Peter. They dated for a few issues after #42. This was also when Gwen was dating Harry Osborn. Gwen didn't get with Peter until after the incident where he hit her father (and after she was sperminated by the Green Goblin).

No, they were basically together from issue 7 to issue issue 34 when she left. Tehn she came back in issue #41 and he realized they had nothing in common anymore. She wanted a safe, quite life, which was why she was interested in Peter in the first place, because he never fought back. Problem was that Peter had become more than a geek. Spider-Man was no longer a hobby. It was his release. It was who he was.

@Jotham:
Neither was Gwen. Peter dated Betty for about 30 issues, and still had her on his mind for about 40. Don't believe the hype about Gwen. For about a month I've been reading old issues of Spider-Man and she's a boring character. The reason Marvel and Conway killed her was because they had nothing left for her except death or marriage, and they choose death. Read some interviews. Conway even stated that writing MJ was more fun than Gwen, and you can tell.

BS. Gwen Stacy came back as a clone like 20 issues later after her death. She had all her memories from before she was killed. They did have another chance and Peter choose instead to be w/ MJ.

BS again. Peter and MJ were dating for a few issues after #42. And when MJ did finally appear, Gwen was still acting like a witch towards Peter.

Gwen was a boring character. Stop spreading your propaganda.

I hate that book. It was pure revisionist propaganda. If anyone thinks Gwen Stacy is Peter's main love than reaad the original issues w/o nostalgia and see how boring she is.

MJ is Spider-Man's main girl. I just read the old issues of the Amazing Spider-Man, and Gwen Stacy sucked. She was a boring character. MJ was interesting since the beginning. I always thought that Gwen would be better for Peter based on what people told me, but after reading the old issues I realized that they were lying and that Peter needs someone w/MJ's personality, or Black Cat's personality. The only reason people think Gwen Stacy is awesome is because 1) They were a kid when she was Peter's GF for 5 years, thus growing up w/ her and romanticizing her when she was killed, 2) A lot of people said she was the only one for Peter, or 3) her death signaled the end of the Silver Age.

Did anyone read the commments left on CBR forum. They're calling Hellion "Rayman" and Gambit "Solid Snake". LOL. They do look like them. I can't wait for this. Have they announced what book(s) this will take place in?

Read House of M, Nation X, Second Coming, and Messiah Complex. You can also read New X-Men from Grant Morrison if you want. Also read Manifest Destiny because it focuses on when they just moved from the East Coast to San Francisco.

You can fill in the blanks if you want. It wasn't so difficult for me when I came in at the start of Nation X, which led to Second Coming. House of M is important, but I haven't read it. I read Messiah Complex after Second Coming, and though it's not need, it serves as a good setting up to the arc. You should read New X-Men just because it's fun.
