@Killemall: I haven't been reading since the beginning of the Third Army arc. But anyway, I guess I should say, any and all lantern corps and their constructs.

I like the Lanterns, I really do. But I've just never seen the necessary range of abilities, durability and resistance to the wide variety of attacks and defenses the Surfer is capable of to think they are even close to the same tier. From what I've read, The Lanterns are at Nova Corps levels (or slightly higher). The Surfer manhandles Nova Prime.

I know everyone always makes the comparison, but after years of reading GL books I've never seen anything proving that any GL has even close to the power and abilities to put them on par with the Silver Surfer. This includes Ion.

Other than Bendis saying so, do we actually have any proof that Avengers Assemble is actually canon and part of 616 continuity?...I'm seriously starting to believe it is just a side cash-in on the Avengers movie (one look at the main roster will tell you that)...Until I get some proof this is THE Thanos we all have known over the years, I'm giving the fight to him

Cancerverse being referenced in that story(although how Thanos managed to escape from it was never revealed) should be sufficient on-panel proof that Avengers Assemble is canon:

The Cancerverse was completely destroyed by Death in the Thanos Imperative. Thanos & Starlord were inside when the universe imploded. Now they are back. I also see Drax in the new book, who was also killed in TI. I think there are just so many instances of canon being ignored by the writers and/or no explanations of why/how things are the way they are that it makes people question if it's canon or not.

Plus Stalord is now blond. Go figure.

I didn't read it, but it sounds like Avengers Assemble is pretty crappy from the standpoint of a fan of Marvel Cosmic.

There's definitely a message in the first volume for those who would listen.

For anyone interested, there is a free course on Coursera that will cover the science of superheroes (among other things) as well as give you an opportunity to design and justify your own superhero. The course is free, 10 weeks long and begins in January 2013. If you have the interest and the time (6-9 hours per week), you should give it a shot.
