Was I Justified?

Now, I want to begin by saying that I'm not the kind of guy who goes around looking for fights. I used to fight a lot when I was younger, but I've matured out of it and I'm generally pretty friendly. Today, however, I snapped. I was involved in a physical altercation and, yes, I did throw the first punch. And while I should feel bad about the ordeal, I don't. I have a very, very hard time feeling any guilt whatsoever, under the circumstances. So since this is the internet and I'll likely never encounter any of you in person nor would I know if I did, I've decided to share the story and get your opinions on whether or not I was justified in my actions.

Before we get into the meat of this story, a small amount of background information is required; I'm currently 16 years old (nearing 17) and for over a year now I've been in a relationship with a girl who, for the sake of anonymity, we'll refer to as Sasha just because its an attractive name. She had a pretty rough childhood... without going into too much detail, her dad was an alcoholic dirt-bag who sexually abused her (he's now in jail, thankfully) but it left an emotional scar on her, so to speak. Four years ago, some other things went bad for her and she tried to kill herself (thankfully her attempt failed) and she wound up getting counseling and has been working to move past it all. Its one of those situations that a lot of people at school have some idea about, but very few people actually know the details. And understandably, she doesn't like to talk about it much.

And now we meet the recipient of my rage (and fist). Again, for the sake of anonymity, we'll refer to him as Paul, because I don't like that name, so I feel it fits him well. (Also, sorry to any Paul's who I may have offended. I'm sure you're great people, I just think your name sounds gross). Paul is "That Kid." You know, the one who can't keep his mouth shut and always has to take things one step too far. During lunch today, I was with Sasha (again, that's not really her name, its just a seductive pseudonym for the purpose of this story) and we happened to see Paul remarking about how another student had no friends and was a loser. This is the ONLY part of my actions which I regret... I got involved by saying, "Paul, do you have friends? Like, can you honestly name five people who like you?" Again, not my proudest moment, and I shouldn't have said that. What he said next, however, is what I feel started this whole mess.

Paul replied, "I don't know, how about you name your emo girlfriend?"

Of course this remark frustrated me, but its not that big of a deal. Just a stupid statement from a stupid person. But while I normally would have let it slide and kept on going, today was apparently the pinnacle of my bad-decision making, because I decided to respond to his stupidity instead. I said, "That isn't funny. If by some miracle you had a girlfriend, and she had a history with depression and a suicide attempt on record, I wouldn't make fun of her."

*Note: Things got a bit vulgar after that, so I'll put a spoiler block over any swear words.

Paul then said, "Well maybe she needs to grow the fuck up and learn to take a joke."

Me: "There's a difference between making a joke and being an insensitive dick. She went through years of therapy after being abused by her dad, obviously that's going to be a touchy subject, you fucking idiot."

By this point, Sasha was asking me to forget about it and keep walking, and in retrospect I should have listened to her but, as we've already established, I wasn't exactly at the height of my good decision-making today. Plus, I just REALLY dislike this guy.

So then Paul tried to dig himself out of the hole by saying, "I didn't know about that."

Me: "Well maybe you should learn a thing or two about a person before you decide to insult them for no fucking reason. You're what, fifteen? Grow up a little and learn at least some basic human decency."

Paul then jumped right back into the hole with, "I need to grow up? You're the one who faps to Superman and shit!" (Referring to the fact that I occasionally read comics in the hallway, which he's made sure to point out very obnoxiously in the past)

Me: "Dude, just stop. Seriously, the fact that we're even fighting about this is ridiculous."

Paul then did the mature thing and... spit on me. No joke. I attempted to resolve the conflict calmly and maturely, and he decided that the best course of action was to spit on me. I muttered the classic, cliche tough guy line, "I dare you to do that again." (Actually, looking back on it, using that line may be the worst decision I made today.) And guess what our good friend Paul did? He took me up on the offer and spit on me again. So... I punched him in the face. Hard. Harder than I've ever hit anything, ever.

Paul, after processing that and recovering a bit, threw a punch my way. My advantage, however, is that while I run track and am really quite fast, Paul is slow and very uncoordinated. I actually dodged his punch, and for a split second I felt awesome. Then I realized that I was in a fight, and something like panic set in. So I did the reasonable thing and hit him as many times as I could, as hard as I could, as fast as I could get them in. He got a couple pretty good hits on me too, but I feel quite confident saying that if we're choosing winners in a fight, I won this one. I saw a teacher running down the hall to break us up, and I thought, "Well I'm already screwed, I might as well finish big." So I shoved him into the lockers and punched him the face one more time before the gym coach was grabbing me and hauling us both to the office.

Aftermath: We were both suspended, Sasha is mad at me for fighting in the first place, my parents are pissed but are at this point unable to agree on my punishment, and I pretty much burned any bridges I had left with Paul... so why don't I feel bad? About hitting him, specifically. I do feel bad about making that crack about no one liking him that sort of set the whole thing in motion, but I don't regret hitting him one bit. Tell me, viners, was I at all justified in what I did, or should I feel guilty over the situation?

Justice League Season 3: Cataclysm

After a bit of a delay, I've finally finished working on season 3 of my Justice League series. I've titled this season "Cataclysm," and that will make sense shortly. The format is the same as the first two seasons; the starred episodes relate to the big, over-arching season plot, and the non-starred episodes stand alone. While the last two seasons have focused more on a core team of heroes, this season has a much broader scope, encompassing much of the DC universe in its entirety. Oh, and I feel I should point out that I envision the episodes in this series to be an hour. The stories that are told in these episodes simply cannot be confined to a thirty minute time slot.

Setup: This would all be explained in the first episode, but rather than try to shoehorn it all into the episode description, I'll just explain what has happened between seasons 2 and 3 here. Basically, after the events of season 2, the world is still lacking faith in the Justice League. As a result, the government has imposed a 7 member limit on the League, to keep it from growing too powerful. To counteract this, Mr. Terrific (who was tasked with re-organizing the League at the end of the last season) has divided the Earth's heroes into several Splinter League's, each consisting of seven members. There is:

Justice League Prime: Superman (leader), Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Flash, Cyborg and Green Arrow.

Justice League International: Booster Gold (leader), Guy Gardner, Red Star, Fire, Ice, Vixen (the seventh is added later in the season)

Justice League Alpha: Captain Atom (leader), Bulleteer, Congorilla, Jesse Quick, Atomic Knight, Alpha Centurion and Supergirl

Justice League Beta: Martian Manhunter (leader), Captain Marvel, Vibe, Gypsy, Atlee, Damage and Cyclone

Justice League Gamma: Green Lantern (John Stewart, leader), Element Girl, Loose Cannon, Deadman, Moon Maiden, Firestorm and Atom Smasher.

Justice League Omega: Big Barda (leader), Tasmanian Devil, Mister Miracle, Ambush Bug, Animal Man, Plastic Man and The Atom.

Justice League Zeta: Hawkgirl (leader), Shining Knight, Vigilante, Zatanna, Blue Devil, Bwana Beast and The Ray.

Seven Justice League teams with seven members each, all working for one common goal; justice (its kind of in the name). Some of you are probably wondering where Batman is, to which I answer; be patient! Anyway, now that I've already given you more reading than you probably hoped, lets get started with the actual episode listings.

*Episode One: Rebirth pt. 1- This episode opens with Justice League Alpha (the one led by Captain Atom) responding to a distress call from a nuclear submarine. In the midst of the action, we also see scenes from an interview with Mister Terrific and Superman, where the viewers are filled in on what has changed since last season. At the site of the submarine, Justice League Alpha attempt to save the hostages being held by Heat Wave. However, when Supergirl moves for one of the hostages, she realizes that it is only a hologram. The team then notice upon further inspection that every single hostage on board the sub has the same appearance, and that they are all bizarre holographic reflections of one another... reflections created by Mirror Master. Mirror Master and Heat Wave spring their trap and immobilize the Justice League Alpha. Heat Wave then begins working to detonate the sub. Minutes later, Justice League Prime arrives, with Superman ripping the top off the sub to make his entrance. Heat Wave and Mirror Master are quickly forced into a retreat, which Mirror Master accomplishes by blinding the heroes with a flash-grenade. Green Lantern flies all of the heroes off the submarine while Captain Atom absorbs the blast, preventing a catastrophe. However, upon regrouping, Justice League Alpha realizes that Jesse Quick is missing. Flash contacts Mister Terrific, and asks him about the wherabouts of her father Johnny Quick. Mister Terrific checks his files, and says that Johnny was reported missing by the retirement home earlier that morning. Flash asks Cyborg to access the security footage from the home which Johnny Quick was abducted from, and finds that a man resembling Captain Cold had infiltrated the facility a few hours before Johnny was reported missing. The episode ends with an image of The Rogues gathered beneath Central City, speaking to a shadowed figure whom they refer to as Blacksmith. Heat Wave and Mirror Master report that they were able to get Jesse Quick, but faced heavy interference by the League. Captain Boomerang states that they will never get to The Flash unless they can isolate him from allies, to which Blacksmith replies, "You think too narrowly. The Flash's allies are his greatest strength... but we will make them his greatest weakness."

*Episode Two: Rebirth pt. 2- Mister Terrific reports to Flash that Kid Flash has recently gone missing. Flash decides that the vanishing speedsters can not be a coincidence, and the Rogues appear to be masterminding something. Flash tries to contact Max Mercury, but there is no response. Worried, Flash races out to Max's home, where he is ambushed by Girder and Tar Pit. During the encounter, Girder mentions how all of Flash has no one to call on, because all of his friends are being hunted as they speak. After Flash defeats the criminals, he immediately issues a distress call to all League members that they may be targeted. However, he finds that his signal is unable to get through, and realizes that the powerful storm currently raging across North America is emitting a low-level EMP that disrupts their signal. Flash immediately infers that this storm is actually being generated by Weather Wizard, as a means to keep Flash from calling for help. Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice, Mister Terrific's control unit is hacked by Abra Kadabra, who uses the system to impersonate Terrific and send each member of Justice League Prime on solo missions. On these missions, each member of the League is ambushed. For example, Aquaman attempts to save a drowning child, but finds that it is a doll. The water is then frozen solid by Captain Cold, trapping the hero.Flash attempts to save his allies, but arrives too late every time. With all of his teammates, as well as several speedsters captured, Flash turns to drastic measures. He visits The Thinker, and asks what he knows about The Rogues recent activities. When Thinker questions why Flash believes he would know, Flash answers, "At first I thought you might be behind this. But you aren't the type to sit back and watch. If this was your doing, you would have taken the credit for it by now. So you aren't involved. But you do know something, because you would have to, to keep your ego well fed." Satisfied, Thinker explains that a woman named Blacksmith has been gathering the Rogues. Before Thinker can reveal more information, he is shot in the head by Plunder. Flash finds a message inscribed in the bullet; the coordinates of Blacksmith's hideout, along with a challenge to come and save his friends.

*Episode Three: Rebirth pt. 3- Knowing full well that he is walking into a trap, Flash heads to Blacksmith's hideout. There, he finds Justice League Prime in captivity, and The Rogues waiting for him. Blacksmith then reveals herself, and shows the captured speedsters strapped to some sort of machine. The real face behind the scenes is then revealed; The Turtle, a former enemy of Jay Garrick, now a decrepit old man bound to a wheelchair. Blacksmith reveals to Flash that she is the Turtle's daughter. Turtle is dying, and Blacksmith plans to drain the Speed Force energy through the speedster's bodies, and use it to stop her father's aging and preserve his life. Flash battles her and the Rogues, and is able to free the his team. Justice League Prime then makes short work of The Rogues. Infuriated, Blacksmith decides that she has enough energy with the speedsters already in captivity, and activates the machine. However, during the fight damage was caused to the machine, and something goes horribly wrong when it becomes active. Everyone flees the fortress as fast as possible, and the device detonates, killing The Turtle and Blacksmith. However, when the explosion clears, there is a massive rift created by the Speed Force; and from it steps none other than Zoom. Zoom has been trapped in the Speed Force for years, but the disturbance freed him, and now he is out for vengeance. Flash and Zoom do battle at high speed, but Zoom's time-manipulating powers give him an edge. His movements are disrupting the flow of time, and soon the two speedsters are literally running through the time stream, engaged in high speed combat. Eventually their fight takes them to the Big Bang, in which Flash finally defeats Zoom and begins to race back through the time stream, leaving Zoom in the blast. Flash returns to the proper time, and all appears to be normal. However, Flash is later visited by Metron, who warns him that the Speed Force was thrown into a frenzy by the battle with Zoom, and that the real battle is only beginning...

Episode Four: Angel of Death- Mister Terrific summons Justice League Zeta, led by Hawkgirl and consisting of Shining Knight, Vigilante, Blue Devil, Bwana Beast, Zatanna and The Ray, to the Hall of Justice. There, they meet Adam Strange. Strange explains that for a little over a year, the planet Rann has been at war with Thanagar. Peace talks have failed, and Adam is now seeking the League's help to quell the violence. Hawkgirl accepts the mission, and Justice League Zeta is taken to Rann by use of a Zeta Beam. There, the heroes attempt to stop the violence between Rann and Thanagar. They soon find that both sides claim that the other launched acts of terrorism against them. However, both sides also deny these acts, which leads to a lot of confusion over what actually started the war. Upon investigating, the team learns that the Weapons Master has been selling arms to both sides. Upon further investigation, Adam Strange finds evidence that the Weapons Master actually framed both planets for acts of terrorism against one another, so that he could start the war and then profit by selling to both sides! While most of the team then focuses their energies on battling the Weapons Master, Hawkgirl and Adam Strange take this evidence and attempt to stop the bloodshed happening between Rann and Thanagar. Hawkgirl is captured by the Thanagarians, where she meets a man claiming to be her father. He then explains to her how she got to Earth, since she has developed amnesia and does not remember anything prior to waking up in season 2. He explains that she was sent to Earth to scout it for invasion, and that the Thanagarians have been planning to invade Earth for several years. He then offers Hawkgirl a place among the Thanagarians again, even offering to let her lead their armies against Earth. Hawkgirl bitterly refuses, and the Thanagarians prepare her for execution, but she is saved by Adam Strange. Meanwhile, the rest of Justice League Zeta bring down Weapons Master and force him to admit that he framed both sides for their accused acts of terrorism. The Thanagarians begrudgingly agree to a peace treaty with Rann, and their forces pull out. However, the Thanagarian general warns Hawkgirl that they will soon meet again.

Episode Five: Under Lock and Key- In this episode, it is finally revealed just what Batman did during his time away from the League between seasons 2 and 3. Batman formed The Outsiders, a proactive and covert alternative to the Justice League, which operates outside of the public eye. The team consists of Black Lightning, Metamorpho, Katana, Grace Choi, Owen Mercer and Creeper. The Justice League does not know of The Outsider's existence, nor does Checkmate. Until, that is, The Key drugs Snapper Carr with a psycho chemical drug that puts him under mind control. Key forces Snapper to infect the Justice League with this same drug, allowing him to take control of them. As soon as word spreads that the League has gone rogue, Batman gathers The Outsiders and takes them on. Eventually, The Outsiders are able to free the League of The Key's control, and Batman defeats The Key. Later, the JLA and Mister Terrific demand to know why Batman did not inform them of The Outsiders existence, and Batman replies, "Because the team was created as a countermeasure to the likes of you, should the need ever arise. Like it did today." Superman responds by saying, "You know what's pathetic? Even after all that's happened, you still can't bring yourself to trust anyone." The League then departs, leaving Batman with The Outsiders.

Episode Six: In Love and War- At the start of this episode, we learn that Black Canary left the Justice League after she and Green Arrow broke off their engagement. She is now leading the Birds of Prey, consisting of herself, Huntress, Batwoman, Hawk and Dove. The Question finds evidence that since Amanda Waller was removed from Checkmate, the Suicide Squad was placed under "new management." More specifically, they became the personal assassins for President Lex Luthor. Question also finds intel that the Suicide Squad may now be planning to assassinate Waller at her court hearing, to keep her from revealing any secrets that they don't want revealed. Question informs Green Arrow of this, and GA shows up at the Solomon Wayne Courthouse where the highly publicized trial is taking place. There, Green Arrow runs into Black Canary and the Birds of Prey, who are also there to protect Amanda Waller. Soon, war breaks out between the heroes and the highly strategic Suicide Squad. And in order to accomplish their mission and save Waller, Canary and Arrow are forced to forget their troubles and work together again.

I'll warn you all, the description for this next episode is going to be incredibly long-winded, because there's a lot of necessary information. After this one, I'll start scaling it down and making sure the descriptions are shorter.

*Episode Seven: A Disturbance in the Force- Flash wakes up with a splitting headache, and is soon contacted by Metron, who tells him that the Speed Force has been out of equilibrium ever since the battle with Zoom. Now, the Speed Force is literally tearing apart the flow of time, bending the time-stream out of its proper formation. All across the Earth, bizarre portals are opening as time falls apart at the seams. Dinosaurs are spilling into New York, Chicago is transported to the Ice Age, etc. Metron tells Flash that he may be able to fix the problem, but there are risks involved. Metron shows Flash an image of the Red King, a dimension-hopping conqueror. Red King wields the Materioptikon. Metron explains that there are infinite universes parallel to this one. Each decision anyone makes creates a new universe. For example, say you were trying to decide whether to buy a Snickers bar or a Twix bar. You decide on the Twix bar, and go about your day, except when you make that decision, a parallel universe is created in which you chose the Snickers bar. This has resulted in the ever-growing multiverse. In some worlds the differences are so minute that you could hardly tell the difference. In others, the differences are drastic. With the Materioptikon, the Red King has the power to see exactly what universes are spawned by each decision, and choose which one he wants to go to at any given time. That way, no matter what choice he or others make, Red King can always achieve a favorable result, because he moves to the parallel universe with the most preferable result. Metron reasons that with the Materioptikon, he would be able to create a universe in which everything was in order. While most of the heroes stay behind to try and control things in their universe, Flash and Mister Terrific gather Justice League Omega (Big Barda, Mister Miracle, Tasmanian Devil, Ambush Bug, Animal Man, Plastic Man, The Atom) are taken to Red King's dimension by Metron, and head to steal the Materioptikon. Of course that is easier said than done, because Red King possesses over 63 metahuman abilities and can decide the outcome of any move his opponents make. Red King makes short work of the heroes, and boasts about having killed them in several other dimensions. Flash distracts Red King while Ambush Bug teleports to the Materioptikon. However, Red King catches Ambush Bug before he can escape with the device, and defeats him swiftly. Red King then holds his Materioptikon triumphantly, and states that he plans to send the heroes to the most painful, abysmal universe he can find. However, he soon realizes that the Ambush Bug had switched the real Materioptikon with Plastic Man, who had molded himself into a replica of the device! Red King then sees that Mister Terrific has the real Materioptikon, and uses it to open a portal back to Metron. But just as the heroes are escaping into the portal, Red King blasts the Materioptikon, seemingly destroying it. Red King's dimension crumbles apart, and the heroes escape empty handed. The episode ends, however, with Metron revealing that the Materioptikon was not destroyed in the blast. Instead, pieces of it were scattered across the space-time continuum, into seven different times and worlds. (Anyone noticing a recurring theme with the number seven?)

Episode Eight: Rampage- S.T.A.R. Labs Professor Kitty Faulkner announces her latest experiment; a limitless, non-polluting power source. However, a corrupt oil company (with unofficial ties to Lex Luthor) does not want this invention to see the light of day. They hire Deathstroke the Terminator, along with a few other assassins placed under Deathstroke's command, to kill Dr. Faulkner and make sure that her works is never completed. The Question, monitoring the activities of the company, hears word of this and notifies the Justice League. In turn, Mister Terrific deploys Justice League Beta (Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel, Vibe, Gypsy, Atlee, Damage, Cyclone) to stakeout S.T.A.R. Labs and make sure that Dr. Faulkner is kept safe. During the stakeout, Damage questions J'onn's motives for wanting to lead the team, because most of them are very young and inexperienced heroes, some of them don't even have a full grasp on their powers. Damage is even more agitated when Manhunter doesn't give him a straight answer. However, the debate is interrupted when Deathstroke and his cadre of assassins show up to kill Kitty Faulkner. The heroes battle Deathstroke, but he has planned his assault meticulously and is prepared for every move they make. During the battle, Damage disobeys orders and causes Kitty's reactor to explode. The blast transforms her into Rampage, and she goes on a... well, rampage. The heroes take her on while Deathstroke retreats, believing his mission to be more or less accomplished. Rampage absorbs all of the energy S.T.A.R. Labs and increases her strength incalculable levels. She is only defeated when Martian Manhunter reaches out to Kitty's mind, buried beneath Rampage's rage. With J'onn's telepathic assistance, Kitty is able to weaken Rampage enough for Damage to defeat her.

Episode Nine: Legacy- The Justice League International team goes to investigate a strange surge of radiation that originated in El Paso, Texas, only for it to disappear a moment later. What they find is Jaime Reyes, a teenager who had just been involuntarily attached to the Scarab, becoming the new Blue Beetle. Jaime is excited to have his new powers, but Booster Gold us unhappy with some punk kid "replacing" his friend (Ted Kord, who died in season 2). Booster treats Jaime with utter disrespect. Later, as Blue Beetle, Jaime attempts to stop a bank robbery by Planet Master, but does not get along with the Scarab, and winds up destroying two city blocks in the process of his "heroics." Booster flips out on Jaime, and tells him that he ever suits up again, he's officially an enemy of the JLI. Jaime is genuinely hurt by this, and very confused. It is then that he is contacted by Jarvis Kord, who says that he can help Jaime master his powers. Jaime breaks into Ted Kord's old hideout and steals The Bug. He flies out to meet Jarvis, and is quickly befriended. Jarvis begins to replicate the Reach technology from the Scarab, all the while manipulating Jaime. Booster Gold later finds out that Ted Kord's hideout was broken into, and sets Skeets to track down The Bug. He finds Jarvis Kord's island, and Jarvis convinces Jaime that Booster is the enemy. Blue Beetle fights Booster, until Jarvis can complete his project... the armor of the Black Beetle. Black Beetle nearly kills Booster, and Jaime realizes he has been deceived. Beetle and Booster team up and manage to defeat Jarvis, blowing up his island. Booster then tells Jaime about how the first Blue Beetle died, and says that not all heroes get a happy ending, which is why he didn't want Jaime becoming the Blue Beetle. He didn't want him to get hurt. Blue Beetle is awarded JLI membership status, and fills Ted Kord's "empty chair" on the team.

Episode Ten: Call of the Wild- Floronic Man and an army of plant monsters attack Metropolis, seemingly unprovoked. Justice League Gamma (John Stewart, Element Girl, Loose Cannon, Deadman, Moon Maiden, Firestorm and Atom Smasher) respond to the threat and battle the plant monsters. Deadman senses something is amiss, however, and feels a strong presence of death in the area. Meanwhile, at the headquarters of Justice League Omega (the team that helped Flash and Mister Terrific defeat Red King a few episodes back), Animal Man senses a strong disturbance in The Red. At at the HQ of the JLI, Vixen is swallowed up by The Red and becomes overtaken by animal instinct, resulting in Booster Gold and Guy Gardner having to chase her through the woods (this is mostly for comic relief). Deadman consults Animal Man, and they piece together that somehow, Floronic Man has become a catalyst for The Rot, the natural force of decay. Floronic Man's plant-monster attack was only a diversion, while he spreads The Rot over the world by releasing infected spores into the atmosphere. While the Gamma team stays in Metropolis to fight the plant monsters and destroy the spores, Animal Man and the rest of the Omega team go to find Alec Holland. There, Animal Man desperately tries to convince Alec to become that avatar of the Swamp Thing again, and help fight The Rot. At first Alec bitterly refuses, but when a plant-clone of Floronic Man appears and kills Alec's girlfriend, Alec is forced to accept his destiny. He becomes the Swamp Thing, and battles the Rot-infected Floronic Man alongside the heroes, saving the world.

Episode Eleven: Broken Trinity- This is the last filler episode before things get really serious. Wonder Woman learns that Steve Trevor has gone missing. She asks Cyborg to hack the Human Defense Corps database and find the information on Steve's last assignment before he went missing. Cyborg finds that Steve was sent to Jarhanpur, a far off land that kept itself completely isolated from all over civilizations, on a top secret recon mission. However, Steve's plane disappeared as soon as he entered Jarhanpur territory, and he has not reported back since. Wonder Woman and her teammates fly out to Jarhanpur to investigate. However, immediately after their plane reaches Jarhanpur air, a massive storm hits them and they crash-land into the deep forests below. There, the team is attacked by vegetation and even the ground itself. Most of the League members are taken captive, disappearing into the ground. Only Superman and Wonder Woman escape. After trudging through the woods hoping to find shelter, they stumble across none other than Batman and the Outsiders. Batman explains that the Outsiders suspected Jarhanpur of several international kidnappings, and infiltrated the country in hopes of finding answers. He then explains to them that Jarhanpur is ruled by a dictator named Rama Khan, and he is biologically connected to the land. He controls Jarhanpur's weather, growth, seismic activity, etc. Everything in the land bends to his will. However, Nth Metal has the capability to nullify Rama Khan's detection. It is through use of the Nth Metal alloy that the Outsiders have been able to remain in Jarhanpur without Rama Khan sensing their presence. Batman leads the heroes to the Capital of Jarhanpur, where subjects gather every morning to praise their "dear ruler" Rama Khan. All the while, mistrust still festers among the Trinity after the events of season 2, in which all three of them kept important secrets from each other. At the morning ceremony, Rama Khan announces the public execution of Steve Trevor and the captured League members later that day. When the Outsiders attempt to infiltrate Khan's dungeon and free the League, they are captured and taken in by rock monsters, leaving only Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to battle Rama Khan. They attack him at his palace during the execution ceremony. To battle them, Rama transforms himself into a living mountain! It is only through teamwork that the Trinity defeat Khan and free their friends. With Rama defeated, Jarhanpur crumbles, and he swears revenge on the League.

*Episode Twelve: Shadows- Metron is still pushing the very extent of his powers to try and slow the Speed Force's destruction of time itself. This episode opens with Alexander Luthor running away from a series of shadowed figures. So that he can escape, his ally the Red Hood detonates a powerful bomb, sacrificing his own life in the process. When the smoke clears, The Red Hood is revealed to be an alternate version of the Joker, and the pursuers he killed were alternate forms of Hawkgirl and Hawkman. Alexander Luthor then returns to his hideout, holding a piece of the Materioptikon in his hands. We then see Mister Terrific finally finishing his machine to locate pieces of the Materioptikon across the multiverse. The machine locates the first of the Materioptikon pieces, and Metron opens a portal to the parallel world in which it landed. Justice League Prime heads to that world. However, Green Arrow does not accompany them. In his place is Batman, who after the events of "Broken Trinity" has agreed to serve as a part-time member. The team arrives on this parallel Earth to find it ruled by evil versions of themselves, known as the Crime Syndicate. They find Alexander Luthor, this Earth's only superhero, with the Materioptikon piece. After some confusion, introductions are made and Luthor explains that the Materioptikon fragment crash landed on their Earth several months ago, and the Crime Syndicate has been trying to get their hands on it ever since. The League decides to stay and help battle the Crime Syndicate. Teaming with Alexander Luthor, the Justice League battle their evil counterparts, including Ultraman, Owlman, Superwoman, Power Ring and Johnny Quick. During the battle, Owlman is espeically intrigued to learn that there are parallel Earths. The battle ends when Alexander Luthor Cyborg perfect a makeshift Zeta Beam, and teleport a nuclear missile into the Crime Syndicate's watchtower. The blast kills Ultraman, and the Crime Syndicate are defeated by their heroic counterparts, freeing the world. The League then returns to their home dimension with the first piece of the Materioptikon.

*Episode Thirteen: Code of Honor- Mister Terrific's machine detects another piece of Materioptikon, this one located in Medieval Europe. He assigns Justice League Zeta (Hawkgirl's team) to accompany Flash. The group travel back in time, where almost immediately, they are attacked by a group of knights. The violence is quickly halted when one of them recognizes Shining Knight as Sir Justin. Shining Knight's friends explain that several months ago, a strange stone fell from the sky. The stone fell into the clutches of Morgaine Le Fey, and they have been on a quest to retrieve it ever since. The heroes of course realize that this stone was part of the Materioptikon. As the heroes and the knights begin to make camp, they are attacked by some of Morgaine's forces; a pack of ogres, led by the Demon Etrigan. All of the knights are turned to stone, infuriating Shining Knight. The heroes barely escape Etrigan's rampage, and find a small village to regroup. There, Hawkgirl and Flash meet the wizard Merlin, who explains that Morgaine has transformed Sir Jason Blood into The Demon, and is using him as her enforcer. She has her chief scholar, Megistus, studying the Materioptikon piece. Merlin warns that if Megistus can find a way to complete the Materioptikon, coupled with Morgaine's power, she would be invincible. The heroes set out on a quest to Morgaine's castle, and during the journey, Shining Knight tells his story, and how he came to live in the 21st century. During the journey, Bwana Beast appears to be killed by Morgaine's forces. When the heroes arrive at the castle, all hell breaks lose. Zatanna and Merlin take on Morgaine Le Fey in a duel of magic. Meanwhlie, Hawkgirl, Blue Devil, The Ray, Shining Knight and Vigilante combat Etrigan. Meanwhile, Flash takes on Megistus, who uses the Philosopher's Stone in combat. Shining Knight tries to reach out to his friend Jason Blood, but he is unable to shake the demon's influence. Seeing no other option, Shining Knight wields Hawkgirl's Nth Metal mace and beats The Demon into submission. Flash defeats Megistus and obtains the Materioptikon piece, and the heroes regroup and finally take down Morgaine. As a last resort, Morgaine casts a powerful destruction spell to detonate her castle. However, at the last minute, Bwana Beast arrives, riding atop a mix of a dragon and a horse! Bwana Beast flies the heroes away from the blast, and they return home with one more piece of the Materioptikon.

Episode Fourteen: Pawns- John Stewart, current leader of Justice League Gamma, receives a distress call from Kyle Rayner. John takes the Gamma team (Element Girl, Loose Cannon, Deadman, Moon Maiden, Firestorm, Atom Smasher) into space to Kyle's last known location, where, to his surprise, they are attacked by several members of the Green Lantern Corps! The team narrowly escapes the Lanterns, and crash land on a small farming planet. There, the planet's residents explain that the tyrant known as Despero is mind controlling the entire Green Lantern Corps, and using them to spread his rule across the universe. John finds only two other Lanterns, G'nort and Ch'p, not under Despero's control. The team rests on the planet, trying to repair their ship. During the rest time, Ch'p befriends Loose Cannon, and we learn that in the presence of sunlight, he returns to his crippled human form. Loose Cannon explains to Ch'p that he believes power is both a blessing and a curse, but everyone has their own choice when it comes to how they use it. We also get to know the other members of Gamma, with special focus on Element Girl and Firestorm. The peace is short lived, however, when the entire Green Lantern Corps mobilizes on the planet, destroying the village that Gamma Team had taken refuge in. John meets Despero, and is telepathically tormented by the tyrant. Despero mocks John for always being the "good little soldier," but a poor leader. With the Green Lantern Corps at his disposal, Despero defeats Gamma Team with relative ease. Only G'nort and Moon Maiden escape, and G'nort states that he has a plan. G'nort takes Moon Maiden to the prison cells of Oa, where they find the Sinestro Corps. Meanwhile, Despero boasts of his victory to the captured heroes, and begins mobilizing the Green Lantern Corps to attack Earth. Loose Cannon states that Despero has no idea how to use his power, and any empire he builds will only come crashing down. Despero responds by mind-raping the team, nearly turning them into vegetables. John screams for Despero to stop, and challenges the tyrant to a game of chess, with his teammate's lives at stake. While John and Despero engage each other in a rousing game of chess, G'nort convinces Sinestro to help him. The Sinestro Corps attacks Despero’s Green Lantern Corps. The violence hinders Despero’s concentration, and John defeats him in chess. The team then takes Despero down, and frees the Green Lanterns of his control.

*Episode Fifteen: Beyond- Mister Terrific's machine locates the third piece of the Materioptikon, located in the distant future. Flash and Batman head into the future via Metron's portal, and are immediately encountered by the Justice League Beyond. However, it does not take long to realize that something is amiss. The League of the future have been infected with mind-controlling inhibitor chips by the future incarnation of Brainiac. Batman and Flash battle the futuristic League briefly, before being saved by an adult Static and the new Batman, Terry McGinnis. The four escape to the Batcave, where Terry explains that after the Materioptikon fragment arrived, it was snatched up by arms dealers. The League went in to try and retrieve it, and came out mind controlled by Brainiac. Terry believes that Brainiac is in league with Kobra, because he has evidence that the Materioptikon fragment was picked up by Kobra agents, What they are doing with it, he doesn't know. Flash becomes fast friends with Terry and Static, but Bruce is skeptical of Terry, and the two don't get along. The four of them split up in Gotham City, looking for clues about where the Materioptikon fragment might be. They battle hordes of Jokerz, and Static is captured. Inque then reveals herself, and reshapes herself to "fill in" for Static. When the heroes regroup, Static tells the team that he knows where Kobra is hiding. The four of them head to this location, but Terry realizes that something is amiss with "Static." Of course, Inque lured the heroes into a trap. Terry takes Inque down just as she is about to kill Bruce. The team escapes the trap, and Bruce interrogates Inque, finding where Kobra is really based. The heroes go there, battle the mind-controlled Justice League, defeat Kobra, and Flash and Batman return to their time with the third Materioptikon fragment. As they leave, Bruce tells Terry that he makes a fine Batman. Bruce then asks, "How do I die?" To which Terry replies, "I wouldn't want to spoil anything."

*Episode Sixteen: World's Finest- Flash's headaches are growing more severe, and in turn the Speed Force is going into overdrive, furiously tearing apart the multiverse molecule by molecule. Metron urges the League to find the remaining four Materioptikon fragments faster. Cyborg and Mister Terrific work with the machine to try and detect the fragments more quickly, but their efforts are in vain. Batman states that he has an idea. Batman and Superman fly out to Tokyo to retrieve Hiro Okamura, a teenage genius. During the trip, they continue to bicker over the recent turmoil between them. On their flight back, the Speed Force rips a portal into their jet, flinging them across the space time continuum. Batman lands on Earth 2, and Superman lands on an unidentified parallel Earth. There, Superman meets a young Clark Kent, who idolizes the man of steel, and explains that in this universe, Superman and the rest of the Justice League are all comic book characters. Meanwhile, on Earth 2, Batman encounters Power Girl and Huntress... who in this universe, is his daughter. After settling the confusion, Power Girl explains to Batman that before he arrived, they had been fighting Darkseid, but he disappeared into the portal as it opened. Back on the other Earth where superheroes do not exist, Superman and the young Clark Kent encounter the Darkseid from Earth Two, who was thrust into this Earth by the portal. Superman battles Darkseid, and in the bloodshed the young Clark Kent realizes that super-heroics are not all glamorous. While Superman and Darkseid duke it out, Batman, Power Girl and Huntress search for Hiro on Earth Two. The trio find evidence head to Tokyo, and all the while Power Girl and Huntress are bickering. Batman remarks that it sounds familiar. The trio arrives in Tokyo to find Hiro in the possession of the Irradiated Man. During the fight, Huntress explains to Batman that while they don't always get along, Power Girl is her closest friend. Meanwhile, on the other Earth, Superman is unable to stop Darkseid from unleashing a Hellspore onto the city, killing thousands, including the young Clark Kent's parents. In a fit of rage, Superman beats Darkseid into submission. On Earth Two, the heroes take down Irradiated Man and Batman retrieves Hiro. With help from the JSA, Hiro throws together a machine to take him and Batman back to their Earth, but not before retrieving Superman from the ruined city that he had been cast into. Once back at the Hall of Justice, Hiro takes one look at the machine and criticizes Cyborg and Mister Terrific for their lack of imagination. Meanwhile, Superman mourns over the lives that he failed to save, and Batman gives him a brief but effective pep talk. As he is leaving, Superman says, "So... are we friends?" And Batman responds, "Figure it out."

*Episode Seventeen: Spittin' Image- Hiro completes his modifications to the machine, and it is now able to detect all four of the remaining Materioptikon fragments simultaneously. Metron opens four portals. This episode centers around the first; The Outsiders entered this portal, on their first mission without Batman. The Outsiders arrive in the Old West, where they meet none other than Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham. Upon searching for the Materioptikon fragment, they uncover a plot by Ra's Al Ghul to play both sides of the Civil War and destroy America. Meanwhile, in the present, Bruce Wayne arrives at Wayne Manor. When he gets there, however, Alfred is shocked to see him, because "Master Bruce" had arrived over an hour ago. Bruce then looks to see an alternate version of himself sitting in the Wayne Manor living room, eating caviar and flipping through old photo albums. Bruce realizes that this is actually Owlman out of costume! The good Bruce attacks, but the evil Bruce produces a tazer and easily drops good Bruce. He then strikes Alfred down, saying, "You know... I killed my Alfred." Back in the Old West, The Outsiders and Jonah Hex defeat Ra's Al Ghul and The Outsiders obtain the Materioptikon fragment. As The Outsiders return to the present, they are greeted by "Batman," who congratulates them on their first mission without him. The screen then cuts to an image of the real Bruce Wayne, chained to a cell in his own Batcave, taunted with the knowledge that Owlman is now impersonating him.

*Episode Eighteen: Legion- This episode takes place within the same time frame as the last, revolving around the team that went through the second portal, Justice League Alpha (Captain Atom, Supergirl, Atomic Knight, Jesse Quick, Bulleteer, Congorilla and Alpha Centurion). The Alpha Team is taken to the distant future, where they meet the Legion of Superheroes in combat with the Fatal Five. Alpha Team helps defeat the Fatal Five, and return to Legion HQ. There, Brainiac 5 scans for the Materioptikon fragment, and of course flirts with Supergirl. His computer finds the fragment, and because this is never easy, the fragment has fallen into the possession of The Dominators. Alpha Team goes in with the Legion of Superheroes and battles The Dominators. Of course the heroes win, and the Materioptikon fragment is obtained. Brainiac 5 asks that Supergirl stay in the future with him, but she declines, believing that her place is with the Justice League. Meanwhile, Owlman, still impersonating Batman in the Justice League, uses Hiro's machine to travel to the Earth which Darkseid destroyed back in "World's Finest." There, he finds the young Clark Kent, bitter over the death of his family, and blaming Superman for the destruction. Owlman offers him a deal...

We've got another long-winded description coming up, because this next one is my favorite episode, and I feel compelled to dump a lot of info.

*Episode Nineteen: What Lies Beneath- Taking place in the same time frame as the last two episodes, this episode revolves around the team that entered the first portal; Justice League Beta, the young team consisting of Captain Marvel, Gypsy, Damage, Vibe, Atlee and Cyclone. But this time, Aquaman is filling in for Martian Manhunter as leader of Beta Team. Through the portal, Aquaman and Beta Team travel 30,000 years into the past, to ancient Atlantis. Before Atlantis sank. Almost immediately after arriving at the surface-world Atlantis, the team feels a violent earthquake. Then, Atlantean soldiers arrive and arrest the heroes, specifically Aquaman, whom they refer to as "The accursed one." The Atlanteans take Aquaman to Arion, Lord of Atlantis. Arion explains that Aquaman's blonde hair is the sign of a curse. He also tells the heroes that Atlantis has been suffering major tremors, much like the one earlier, for several months now. Arion believes that Aquaman's arrival is a sign from the gods that a sacrifice is in order, to purge their city of the curse. The heroes are thrown into the Atlantean dungeon, and Aquaman is set for ceremonial execution. Gypsy, however, escapes the prison and seeks out Manitou Raven, a powerful Atlantean shaman who Aquaman believes can help. Gypsy finds Manitou Raven and his daughter, Dawn. She explains the situation to Raven, who in turn tells her that he does not believe Aquaman is the cause of the tremors, but Arion will not listen to reason. Gypsy decides that the only way to save Aquaman is to find what is really causing the tremors, and Raven agrees to try and postpone Aquaman's execution. Dawn accompanies Gypsy to the outskirts of Atlantis. There, the two head underwater and find The Triton, a race of sea monsters that will eventually evolve into The Trench. The Triton appear to be digging a massive network of tunnels underneath Atlantis, causing the tremors. Gypsy wants to go to Arion with this information immediately, but Dawn senses a strange magical aura coming from the creatures, and wants to investigate further. Meanwhile, Manitou Raven approaches Arion in his court, and tries to prove Aquaman's innocence with his hatchet, which will not cut an innocent man. The hatchet does not harm Aquaman, proving he is innocent. However, Arion accuses Raven of heresy, and locks him up as well. While exploring the tunnels dug by the Triton, Dawn and Gypsy find the lair of the witch Gamemnae, and realize that she is controlling the Triton with magic, seeking to sink Atlantis and frame Aquaman in the process. Gamemnae sees the girls and has the Triton capture them. At Aquaman's execution, there is a massive earthquake and Atlantis begins to sink. The Beta Team uses this chance to escape, and battle Atlantean forces. Dawn and Gypsy trick Gamemnae into revealing herself, and she and the Triton are drawn into battle with the heroes, as well as Arion. Manitou Raven is killed during the fight, and his mantle is passed onto his daughter, who becomes Manitou Dawn. Gamemnae is defeated, but the heroes cannot prevent Atlantis from sinking. Arion apologizes to Aquaman by offering him the Materioptikon fragment, which has been under study by Atlantean scholars. Arion tells Aquaman that he will make a fine king, and the heroes return to the present.

*Episode Twenty: The Tyrant- This episode continues within the same time frame as the last three, revolving around the final portal. Flash and Justice League Omega (Big Barda, Mister Miracle, Animal Man, Plastic Man, The Atom, Tasmanian Devil, Ambush Bug) entered this portal, and they arrive in an alternate world; one that is a desolate wasteland, ruled by warring tribes of mutant creatures. Almost immediately after arriving in this universe, Flash and Omega Team are ambushed by a race of tiger men. They are only saved by the intervention of Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth. After driving off the Tiger Men, Kamandi asks the heroes if they are friends of "the tyrant." When they decline, Kamandi takes them with him to Command-D, the bunker that he calls home. There, Kamandi tells them about the Great Disaster that shaped his world. He then points out that the heroes arrived through the same type of portal as "the tyrant," but he arrived a little over a month ago. Kamandi says that the tyrant has the power to "speak in your mind," and with it he conquered most of the tribes and rules them with an iron fist. Now almost all of Kamandi's world is under his control. Flash promises to help Kamandi take down the tyrant if he helps him find the Materioptikon fragment. When Justice League Omega launches a recon mission to spy on the tyrant, Flash is shocked to see that the tyrant is none other than Gorilla Grodd! Apparently, a Speed Force Portal opened onto Gorilla City and flung Grodd into Kamandi's wrold, where he used his psychic abilities to take control of several mutant tribes. Due to Ambush Bug's idiocy, Grodd is made aware of the team's presence, and a massive war breaks out. Flash and Kamandi gather up the few scattered tribes still not under Grodd's control, and Big Barda leads them into battle against Grodd's forces. While the Omega Team engages the hordes of mutants in combat, Flash and Kamandi battle Gorilla Grodd. When he is finally defeated, Kamandi leads Flash to the final Materioptikon fragment. However, as Justice League Omega is about to return to their Earth, a Speed Force Portal opens up, and from it emerges the Black Flash. Flash screams for the Omega team to escape, and while they return to Earth with the fragment, Flash attempts to stop the Black Flash from reaching them. Both speedsters disappear in a flash of light, and the episode draws to an end...

*Episode Twenty-One: Deception- With all of the Materioptikon fragments assembled, Hiro, Cyborg and Mister Terrific are able to reconstruct the device. Meanwhile, Hal Jordan goes to inform Iris Allen of her husband's apparent demise. When he arrives, however, he finds her already in tears. Hal asks what is wrong, and Iris tells him that Barry hit her. When Hal asks when, she says, "Just before he left." Hal says, "You mean yesterday?" And Iris responds, "No... about ten minutes ago." Suddenly, "Barry" returns home, and he and Hal are of course surprised to see each other. They talk for a moment, and Barry acts very strange. Then, Hal notices a bruise on Barry's chin, and remembers when the League went to the parallel universe ruled by the Crime Syndicate... and he had punched the villainous Johnny Quick in the jaw. Hal realizes that this is actually Barry's evil counterpart from the parallel world, and the two fight. After Hal subdues Quick, he summons Wonder Woman, and using her lasso of truth, they interrogate the villain. Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, once the Materioptikon is finished, Mister Terrific prepares to deliver the device to Metron so that he can save the universe from the Speed Force's deterioration. However, Batman points out that he should take the device instead, so that Mister Terrific can stay and continue to organize the League. Hal and Wonder Woman arrive just as "Batman" takes the Materioptikon. Owlman then reveals himself, having impersonated Batman since "Spittin' Image." Owlman uses the Materioptikon to disappear into a pocket dimension where he can view the entire multiverse simultaneously. He then summons the rest of the Crime Syndicate, evil counterparts to every good hero on Earth. Replacing Ultraman (who died in "Shadows") is the young Clark Kent, now calling himself Superboy Prime. Owlman states that it is time to mobilize for war. He unleashes Superboy Prime to test his new powers on Justice League Alpha. Under this alternate yellow sun, Superboy Prime proves far stronger than even Superman. Prime defeats Justice League Alpha with relative ease, and beats Supergirl to the brink of death. Drawn by the bloodshed, Superman arrives to put a stop to Prime. Prime smiles, saying, "Its about time you got here. I was getting bored with the appetizers." As Superman and Superboy Prime begin their battle, Owlman uses the Materioptikon to open multiple portals in strategic positions around the globe, unleashing his Crime Syndicate army.

*Episode Twenty-Two: The Struggle Within- Here, we learn what became of Flash. After he and the Black Flash disappeared in a blaze of light at the end of "The Tyrant," Flash was transported to a bizarre pocket dimension where the landscape is constantly changing, and the laws of physics do not apply. Here, Flash meets an old friend from season one; Death of The Endless. Flash asks Death is he is dead, to which she replies, "No. But you aren't alive either. Just somewhere in between." Death explains that the realm Flash is currently trapped in is made from the manifestations of people's dreams. Every dream from anyone in the multiverse adds to the vastness of this realm. When Flash asks why she is there, Death answers; "He wanted me to talk to you, because He knows you trust me." Flash asks, "Who is He?" And Death answers, "The Presence. You got lucky you know; normally He sends The Spectre, and that's never pretty." The two continue to talk, and Death takes Flash to see The Phantom Stranger, who had requested an audience with the speedster. Long story short, the Stranger explains to Flash that the Speed Force does not simply exist. It actually generates from Flash himself. And the only way to calm a disturbance within the Speed Force is to calm the struggle within himself. Stranger returns Flash to Earth, where he finds the Justice League at war with the entirety of the Crime Syndicate. Back in "Shadows," The League had only fought the core members of the Syndicate. Now Owlman had returned with a full-force invasion, hundreds of evil counterparts to Earth's heroes. While Flash attempts to figure out what the Stranger meant by the "struggle within," Superman and Superboy Prime continue their battle. Prime is far more powerful than Superman, and beats the hero to a pulp. Superman tries to reason with Prime, but the boy proves to be mentally unstable. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman arrives at the Batcave to free the real Bruce. She is ambushed by Superwoman, who proceeds to torture Bruce by snapping his ribs while forcing him into a kiss. After an intense fight, Wonder Woman and Batman defeat Superwoman. Wonder Woman then explains that the Justice League need to organize their counterstrike against the Crime Syndicate, but Batman replies, "The Syndicate is the least of our worries. Have you actually seen Owlman since this war began?" Diana replies, "No. He disappeared with the Materioptikon, and hasn't been sighted since." Batman says, "That's because this war is only a diversion. I know what he really plans to do... and if he succeeds, there will be no more worlds for the Syndicate to conquer."

*Episode Twenty-Three: Counterstrike- The war is escalating. President Lex Luthor commissions the Human Defense Corps, armed with Cadmus tech that is designed to kill high-level metahumans. Luthor orders the Defense Corps to kill any metahumans they encounter, be they League or Syndicate. Meanwhile, the Speed Force Cataclysm is reaching its climax, pulling reality apart molecule by molecule. Huge rifts are forming in the atmosphere, and Earth is experiencing major climate shifts. Batman and The Outsiders sneak into the Hall of Justice, currently under Crime Syndicate control. Hiro, Mister Terrific and Cyborg are all being held captive by the members of Omega Syndicate, the Crime Syndicate counterparts to Justice League Omega (Barda's team). While the Outsiders take Omega Syndicate down, Batman frees the captive heroes. Hiro disassembles one of Mister Terrific's T-Spheres and uses the tech to modify the Father Box taken from Big Barda's evil counterpart. Hiro re-engineers the Father Box to create an inter-dimensional portal. Batman uses the portal to go after Owlman. Hiro and Mister Terrific then go to work integrating the modified Father Box into Cyborg's Boom Tube tech. Cyborg converts his arm into a portal-gun, and uses it to round up all of the thinly-scattered Leaguers to organize a more proper assault against the Crime Syndicate. Superman is still getting smacked around by Superboy Prime, along with a few other heroes who made an attempt to battle him. Meanwhile, Flash, having been returned to Earth by the Phantom Stranger, contemplates what he meant by the "struggle within." Flash sees the devastation being caused by the Speed Force, and with the knowledge that the force is generated by him, he feels soul-crushingly guilty over all of the deaths caused by the Speed Force cataclysm... and the many more deaths to come. Flash begins to lose all hope, and goes to find his wife Iris, wanting to spend his last few hours with her. He is surprised to find Hal there, and his evil counterpart Johnny Quick tied to a chair and stuffed in the closet. Hal and Iris attempt to console Barry, but he has accepted himself as a failure. "I don't know who I was trying to kid all these years. I was hanging around the most powerful beings in the universe, and all I can do is run fast. Then, the moment I run a bit too fast, I cause a disturbance that's going to destroy everything...and now I can't even figure out how to stop it." Iris and Hal attempt to pull Barry out of his dismal state, but he won't hear it. That's when Johnny Quick tumbles out of the closet, through with listening to counterpart whine. Eventually, Quick explains that he was sent by Owlman to kill Iris Allen, because he knew it would crush Barry's spirit. When Hal asks why Owlman treated Flash as such a priority, Quick says, "Because Superboy Prime fears speedsters. He knows what we're capable of at our full potential, and it scares him. That psychopathic little freak could barely even look at me." Then, when Barry asks why Quick didn't kill Iris, he answers, "Because I did it in my universe. To Owlman, compassion is a flaw, and he wouldn't allow any of his precious Syndicate to be flawed. So he made us all sever our ties with anyone outside the Syndicate. I killed my wife... and I couldn't bring myself to do it again." The scene then cuts to Batman, who has followed Owlman to the Nexus, a place where all of the multiverse can be viewed simultaneously. After an ominous discussion, the two prepare to face off.

*Episode Twenty-Four: The Worlds Around Us pt. 1- Superboy Prime and the Crime Syndicate have pretty much decimated the Justice League. As a last resort, Hiro has Cyborg take him to his workshop in Japan, where he accesses his giant Batman/Superman Robot. Piloting the robot, Hiro gives the League an edge and defeats several Syndicate members. Meanwhile, in The Nexus, Owlman explains to Batman that all life is pointless. Owlman has come to the conclusion that nothing we do matters, because for every choice we make, another universe is spawned where we made the opposite, undoing the choice's significance. Owlman believes that life itself is without meaning, and we only torture ourselves by trying to make something meaningful out of it. Owlman intends to break this cycle by finding Earth Prime, the first Earth from which all parallels spawned. He plans on using the Materioptikon to erase Earth Prime's existence, and in doing so wipe out every world in the entire multiverse. Owlman locates Earth Prime and prepares to head there, but Batman hurls a batarang into the Materioptikon, damaging the device and causing it to send the two through the multiverse at random. Meanwhile, at Iris Allen's home, another Speed Force portal opens, and the Black Flash returns. Flash realizes that this could not possibly be coincidence, and there is no way that the Black Flash would randomly targeted at him twice. Flash prepares to battle the Black Flash to save Iris, but Johnny Quick intervenes, saying, "Let me do it. Lord knows I deserve it more than you do." Johnny Quick then tackles the Black Flash, and vibrates the creature back into the Speed Force. However, Quick kills himself in the process. Inspired by Quick's sacrifice, Flash sprints off and opens another wormhole, racing to Metron's observatory realm. Flash says, "You sent the Black Flash after me... didn't you?" Metron replies, "Yes. I did." When Flash demands to know why, Metron explains that since the Materioptikon has fallen into the hands of the Crime Syndicate, drastic action had to be taken. The Speed Force is going to destroy all that exists. To prevent this, Metron will have to destroy the Speed Force; and to do that, he must destroy Barry Allen. Flash punches Metron in the face, and says, "I think I figured out what my inner struggle is. Its having faith in myself, instead of all-powerful pricks like you." Flash then turns and tears open another wormhole. Metron asks where he is going, to which Flash replies, "I'm going to fix everything."

**Episode Twenty-Five: The Worlds Around Us pt. 2- Superboy Prime takes a sun dip, supercharging his body. He then destroys Hiro's Batman/Superman Robot. All of the Justice Leaguers are shown in fierce combat with their Crime Syndicate counterparts, making an epic battle scene. Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Martian Manhunter have all mobilized to battle Superboy Prime, but his solar suit continues to keep him fully charged, and he is far more powerful than the heroes. The Crime Syndicate is quickly dwindling away the Justice League, as heroes fall one by one. Meanwhile, the Speed Force is on the verge of undoing the universe, which is now holding on by only a thread. The rifts in the atmosphere have grown to monumental size, and the end of existence is drawing nearer by the second. During all this, Batman is chasing Owlman through the multiverse. The two battle through several Elseworlds universes, all the while having a deep philosophical argument. After hopping across dozens of alternate worlds, the Materioptikon finally corrects its course, and Owlman goes to Earth Prime, with Batman following close behind. Back on the main Earth, Superman finally succumbs to Superboy Prime's onslaught. The Justice League has fallen, and the Crime Syndicate is quickly gaining more and more ground in the war. General Sam Lane attempts to destroy Superboy Prime by firing a kryptonite missile at him. However, since kryptonite does not exist on Superboy Prime's Earth, it cannot affect him in any other. Prime destroys the Human Defense Corps easily, and moves on to finish Superman off. At the last moment, however, a new portal opens, and from it step Flash and Alexander Luthor... leading an army of superheroes from other worlds! Flash and Alexander gathered up parallel versions of the Justice League from multiple worlds, and organized them to battle the Crime Syndicate. Against these hordes of new heroes, the Syndicate is quickly defeated. Superboy Prime kills several of the heroes, and sets his sights on Flash. Meanwhile, on Earth Prime, Owlman and Batman battle it out. Batman finally gains the upper hand against Owlman, and defeats the villain. As a last resort, Owlman takes the Materioptikon and travels back to the dawn of time. He attempts to set off an explosive that will counteract the big bang, and prevent the creation of the multiverse in the first place. Of course Batman chases Owlman through the portal, but he is too late to stop him from detonating the bomb. Instead, he grabs the bomb and his evil counterpart, attempting to contain the blast, and he and Owlman are both seemingly killed.

Back on Earth, Flash moves faster than ever before and speed-blitzes the crap out of Superboy Prime. However, Flash begins to move too fast, and with one final blow, he and Superboy Prime both fade out of reality, sucked into the Speed Force itself. There, Flash defeats Superboy Prime and wills the Speed Force to focus around him, killing two birds with one stone; the Speed Force creates a prison from which Prime will never escape, and Prime serves as a focal point for the Speed Force to center around, allowing it to stabilize, which puts an end to the Speed Force Cataclysm. However, Flash finds that he is unable to escape the Speed Force, and realizes that he is trapped outside of reality. The scene then shifts to Batman, as he finds himself before a mysterious force that calls itself The Presence. The Presence says that it saved Batman's life as a reward for saving the entire multiverse from his evil counterpart. The Presence then says that Batman will play a fundamental role in "things to come." The Presence returns Batman to Earth, but on the way, Batman catches a glimpse of a strange black door creaking open. A monstrous creature peers out through the door, and shrieks, "All that you know will soon come an end!" Batman then finds himself back on Earth, in the midst of a celebration; the crisis had been averted. The Crime Syndicate are taken back to their Earth by Alexander Luthor, now the president of his America. Alexander promises that the Syndicate will be punished severely. Superman holds a press conference at the Hall of Justice, where a statue is erected to honor The Flash, who seemingly gave his life to stop the cataclysm... for Flash never returned to Earth. As this episode draws to a close, we see Metron and a mysterious, shadowed figure watching and debating. In this discussion, we learn from the shadow figure that the "careless use of the Materioptikon has opened the door to the antimatter universe." However, Metron says that it will be at least a year before the door is open enough for anything substantial to escape. Metron then asks if he should return Flash to Earth, but the shadowed figure says, "No. Right now, The Flash is exactly where we need him to be."

Finished.

So what do you guys think? Personally, I feel like this was the best season yet, but I'm interested to hear your opinions.

My Idea for "The Avengers 2"

I'm sure that by this point, a large percentage of you have seen The Avengers, and know how great it is. Its massive success pretty much guarantees a sequel, and there has already been plenty of speculation on where it might go. A big hint was dropped in the post-credits scene, in which we saw Thanos.

.But personally, I would rather see The Avengers fighting a more Earth-based threat in the second movie, rather than another alien invasion. So, here's what I have in mind:

The movie begins with Black Widow and Hawkeye investigating alleged HYDRA activity. The two infiltrate a HYDRA base and find HYDRA scientists creating a trans-dimensional portal of some kind. Black Widow and Hawkeye try to intervene but are unable to stop the portal from opening. And from it, a familiar figure emerges: the Red Skull. Hawkeye and Widow escape, and Widow calls Nick Fury to tell something like, "Its time to assemble."

The Avengers are gathered once again. At the SHIELD HQ, they are introduced to professor Hank Pym, who explains his theory that, when the Red Skull touched the tesseract in "Captain America," he was not killed. Rather, he was flung into a kind of stasis on the far end of the galaxy (and he survived because, you know, movie science). HYDRA was able to more or less replicate the tesseract energy, and bring the Red Skull back to Earth. This of course really bothers Captain America, who has long believed his enemy to be dead.

Bruce Banner and Hank Pym are able to track the residual tesseract energy signature left on the Red Skull, and the Avengers head to a HYDRA facility to stop them before their plans can even begin. However, the team quickly realizes they have walked into a trap. There is then a big battle against HYDRA forces, who have hired some mercenaries to assist them (Taskmaster, anyone!?). During the battle, Cap has a brief confrontation with the Red Skull, and the enemy is able to draw some of Hulk's blood. The Red Skull then sets the base to self-destruct, and HYDRA makes their escape. The Avengers barely get out of the base before it detonates. Back at the HQ, Iron Man points out that Cap made a few bad calls during the fight, and he wonders if Cap's grudge against the Red Skull is interfering with his judgement. This leads to a bit of a dispute between the two. And we get some character development for Hank Pym, too.

We then see a bit of HYDRA's plan, as they are using the Hulk DNA they extracted to create Hulk-like super soldiers. HYDRA forces, along with a handful of these soldiers, attack the Avengers head on. There's another big fight, but the attack proves to be nothing more than a distraction when Taskmaster infiltrates the SHIELD vault and steals none other than Loki's scepter (I don't think that was destroyed in The Avengers, but if I'm wrong please tell me). HYDRA forces retreat. The Avengers quickly notice the scepter is missing, and Thor begins to understand HYDRA's plan.

Red Skull uses the scepter, combined with HYDRA tech, to rip open a portal to Asgard. HYDRA then sends their army of Hulks into Asgard, launching a massive offensive strike. Hulk has already been shown to be a match for Thor in the cinematic universe, so an army of Hulk-like beings could easily do some damage in Asgard. Thor explains that HYDRA is after the Infinity Gauntlet, which was shown to be in Odin's vault in the "Thor" movie. After giving a brief explanation of what the gauntlet is capable of, the Avengers try to intervene but the portal closes before they can follow HYDRA to Asgard.

Hank Pym realizes, however, that the Hulk emits the same gamma radiation as the tesseract. So basically, they make Hulk as angry as they can, and Black Widow lures him into the HYDRA portal device, which draws the gamma radiation and briefly opens a second portal. The Avengers go to Asgard to find it in ruins, the Asgardians warring against the army of Hulks. There is, of course, a huge epic fight. During the battle, Cap and Iron Man wind up fighting Red Skull, wielding Loki's scepter. They destroy the scepter, but the HYDRA Hulks are able to break into Odin's vault and steal the Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course, the Avengers are able to find a way to stop HYDRA, and the Red Skull is left to be punished by the gods while the heroes return to Earth... with the Infinity Gauntlet, which is safely locked away in an impenetrable vault beneath Stark Tower.

This could lead into the third movie. Since the gauntlet is now on Earth, Thanos has a good reason to go there...

What do you guys think? Realistically, I know that this will never happen, but its fun to think about anyway.

Justice League: Season 2

Here it is, ladies and gents! Without further delay, Season 2 of my Justice League series! This season runs 28 episodes, four episodes longer than the first season. The format is the same as last time. Starred episodes relate to the big, over-arching plot of the season, non-starred episodes are stand-alone. This season is a bit darker in tone than the last, and will affect the heroes a lot closer to home. The main plot of the season draws a lot from Countdown to Infinite Crisis, but I've put enough of my own, unique spin on it to make it original. Also, on one final note, this season coincides with the New 52 a bit less than the first did, because there are certain changes made by the New 52 that I still refuse to accept. Now that all that boring stuff is straightened out... enjoy!

Episode One: Champions- After saving the universe at the end of season one, the Justice League have garnered global fame and admiration. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary and Red Tornado are all international celebrities. Construction of the Watchtower has finally finished, and the Hall of Justice is now only used for public appearances. However, not all good came from the events of the last season. Because of LexCorp's vast aid to the government against Apokolips' armies, Luthor is considered a worldwide hero as well. He is using this publicity to fuel his presidential campaign. The League is, of course, suspicious of Luthor's plans, but play nice with him in the public eye nonetheless. At a press conference where Luthor will shake hands with each member of the League individually, a reporter refers to the assortment as "Earth's greatest champions." This broadcast is picked up by the Appellaxian fleet, a conquering race of aliens (who, strangely, don''t seem to have a page on comicvine). The Appellaxians quickly send a messenger to Earth, who broadcasts a message that the Appellaxians will battle Earth's greatest champions to determine the planet's fate. If the planet's champions should win, Earth will earn its right to life. If the Appellaxian warriors win, Earth will be destroyed. The Appellaxians then teleport all of Earth's champions to individual battle rings... The Justice League, AND Lex Luthor. After the members of the League win their battles against the Appellaxian warriors, Superman saves Luthor at the last moment, whilst Luthor expresses his cowardice on national television. However, the heroes assume victory too soon when the King of the Appellaxian horde comes to avenge his fallen sons. He traps the entire Justice League, along with Luthor, under a giant energy dome and arrives to combat them. The King proves a powerful opponent, and he nearly defeats the League. Luthor, however, after analyzing the fight, realizes the King's weakness and informs the League. With this knowledge, the heroes band together and defeat the Appellaxian king. Once the threat is averted, Superman then begrudgingly admits at another press conference that the battle would have been lost without the help of Lex Luthor. While Superman is leaving the press conference, Luthor whispers in his ear, "Remember, Superman... I always win." To which Superman replies, "We'll see."

*Episode Two: International- Billionaire Maxwell Lord contacts the Justice League, telling them that he wants to take the League "International," as in, riding on their success and basically turning the Justice League into a franchise. The heroes promptly refuse, unswayed by the offer of salaried heroics. Later, during a battle with Dr. Polaris, Booster Gold shows up and begins trying to persuade the League to let him join, allured by their fame. However, it quickly becomes obvious that Booster is only in it for the glory, and Batman denies him membership. Maxwell Lord, on the other hand, summons Booster to him and offers him a place in his Justice League International team. Booster immediately accepts, and begins gathering more members. Soon the International team consists of Booster Gold, Red Star, Guy Gardner, Fire, Ice, Batwing, Vixen and Blue Beetle (The REAL Blue Beetle, Ted Kord. I don't care what the New 52 says, he exists). When a battle breaks out between the Justice League and Intergang, the JLI shows up, followed by a large camera crew to broadcast the action. Through the JLI's complete lack of efficiency and teamwork, Intergang manages to escape with some stolen tech from S.T.A.R. Labs. The Justice League attempts to shut the JLI down, but Maxwell Lord presents that he owns legal rights to the team and that the Justice League has no control over their activities. The two Leagues leave on bad terms, and Lord watches with a sly smile. Later, Batman is shown searching through S.T.A.R. Labs files, wondering just what it was that Intergang went through so much trouble to steal.

Episode Three: Bloodsport- Black Canary is sent by the League to go undercover in an illegal fight club in Star City run by Roulette. She recruits Wildcat, who goes undercover as her manager. Meanwhile, Green Arrow is investigating suspicious activity involving Brick and his gang. Brick's men have been picking up strange shipments at the Star City pier from meta-humans confirmed to be affiliated with Intergang. Green Arrow battles Brick and the handful of Intergang members, and after defeating them, looks to see what the shipments are. Before he can get a good look, however, Roulette's enforcers show up and knock him out. After a night of prize fighting, Black Canary and Wildcat sneak into the basement of the fight club to see what is going on beneath it. They find Green Arrow chained up. Once they free him, however, they find that he is infected with something Black Canary instantly recognizes; one of the violence-inducing spores from season one. She and Wildcat manage to incapacitate Arrow and she removes the spore. She then calls Batman and tells him that she knows what Intergang stole from S.T.A.R. Labs. Apparently, they were being paid by Roulette, just as Brick was being paid to deliver the shipments. Green Arrow agrees to help take Roulette down. As more prize fights progress, Canary realizes that when fights get "boring," Roulette induces the fighters with spores to make them more violent for the audience. Eventually, Wildcat is caught snooping around, and infected. Green Arrow takes him down, but Roulette unleashes all of her fighters onto him and Black Canary. The duo battle their way through and eventually take down Roulette, destroying the fight club. Green Arrow becomes a part-time member of the Justice League.

Episode Four: Heart- Flash, Cyborg and Green Lantern get stuck with PR duty for the day, as in, spending the day at the Hall of Justice signing autographs and doing interviews. They are surprised when Red Tornado immediately offers to join them. The four head down to the Hall of Justice and are bombarded by JLA fans. Hal, Victor and Barry unanimously decide that fame sucks. Meanwhile, Professor Ivo and T.O. Morrow decide that since both their creations, Amazo and Red Tornado, failed to kill the Justice League, they should put aside their rivalry and "build something that will get the job done." The two mad scientists create Tomorrow Woman, the most powerful android yet. A building nearby to the Hall of Justice sets on fire, and the heroes race inside to save the lives of the people inside. Red Tornado finds a woman huddled in the corner, and when he goes to save her, is blasted with a powerful telekinetic wave. She reveals herself to be the Tomorrow Woman. After the heroes had taken the bait, Tomorrow Woman quickly proceeds to attack them, using telepathic and telekinetic powers on par with those of J'onn. During the battle, Red Tornado reveals to Cyborg that he desperately wishes to understand human emotion. He wants to "feel" rather than just process. Tornado also reveals that he envies Cyborg, because a part of him is still human. Cyborg responds by telling Tornado that he has a heart of gold, he just hasn't learned how to feel it beat. Later, Tomorrow Woman is revealed to be a walking bomb that will detonate and wipe out the entire city. Red Tornado convinces Tomorrow Woman that she has the right to make her own decisions, and that after being inside the minds of humans, she must understand that they don't deserve to die. Tomorrow Woman sacrifices herself by flying into space before she detonates. The heroes then find Ivo and T.O. Morrow and finally arrest them. At the end of the episode, Cyborg takes Red Tornado to his workshop and reveals a gift for him; Cyclone. Cyclone is a young female android with Red Tornado's power, but programmed to effectively simulate human emotion. She will act as Red Tornado's niece in his new human guise as John White, and he can learn from her. Tornado thanks Cyborg, and says that he has taught him the first step in understanding emotion; friendship.

Episode Five: Meltdown- When the terrorist organization known as Kobra takes over a large power plant in Moscow, Russia, the JLI team is ecstatic that they finally get a serious mission. Booster Gold leads the JLI into the power plant full force, apparently forgetting about Kobra's hostages. One such hostage happens to be a world-renowned nuclear scientist, Dr. Martin Stein, and the second was Ronnie Raymond, an American High School student who had earned a free trip to the plant due to his part in an anti-nuclear activist group. The Justice League International is quickly defeated by Kobra forces, the leader of whom states that it was even easier than he anticipated. Kobra then reveal that the takeover of the plant had all been a setup to draw the attention of the JLI. They kidnap Red Star, and then leave the plant to meltdown. There is an explosion while stopping the meltdown, and it merges Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein into one being; Firestorm, the Nuclear Man! Along with Firestorm, who is trying to get a handle on his powers and figure it all out, the team uses Vixen to track Kobra. Batwing and Blue Beetle tell Booster that the JLI fails due to its lack of team coordination, to which Booster replies that he doesn't feel he is really cut out for leadership. The group learns that Kobra has hooked up Red Star to a machine that will draw his internalized nuclear energy and use it to power a devastating weapon, which they will use against the United Nations. The JLI launches a team effort to free Red Star, but do to Guy's insubordination and Firestorm's lack of control over his powers, they are again defeated. Kobra insults Booster for being stupid enough to bring him an even more powerful weapon, and straps Firestorm to the weapon as well. However, Firestorm is able to generate enough raw power that it overloads the weapon and causes a massive explosion! Booster finally gets a handle on his leadership role and organizes a group effort to take down Kobra. Firestorm then leaves to experiment with his abilities further, and the JLI celebrates its first victory.

Episode Six: Wrath- When Eclipso kidnaps several criminals from Death Row, the Phantom Stranger alerts the Justice League that something is strangely amiss. The League battles Eclipso and, in a relatively uncomplicated battle, gain the upper hand. However, Eclipso's plan comes to fruition when the Spectre arrives to punish the guilty criminals whom Eclipso had stolen. Eclipso uses powerful sorcery to steal the Spectre's power, reclaiming what he believes to be his rightful place as the almighty wrath of God. The League battles Eclipso, but with the Spectre's powers he easily overcomes all of them. It is not until he faces Martian Manhunter that he realizes the Martian's heart is pure. Following the peaceful ways of the Martians, J'onn has never sinned. Because of this, the Spectre's powers are unable to harm J'onn, as there is no guilt to punish. J'onn defeats Eclipso and the Spectre's power is returned to its rightful host.

*Episode Seven: A Force For Peace- When American soldiers capture spies from Bialya, the two countries threaten to go to war. The Global Peace Agency deploys OMAC to stop Bialyan armed forces from advancing. The Justice League travels there in hopes of quelling any violence that may arise. However, the League soon discovers that Queen Bee, the queen of Bialya, is not human, nor is her army. Rather, they are a race of humanoid bee-like aliens who seek to spread their race across the galaxy. OMAC immediately jumps to violence, and his recklessness gets the heroes captured and brought to Queen Bee's hive. Flash realizes that the drones are blind to the color red, and with his scarlet costume, is able to escape. He frees the rest of the team, and they battle Queen Bee's forces. Bee's powerful electromagnetic blast cuts OMAC off from Brother Eye, and reverts him back to Buddy Blank who, ironically, manages to solve the problem through diplomacy. Later, Green Arrow fiercely argues with the chairmen of the Global Peace Agency, saying that Buddy deserves to know what he is. Batman convinces Arrow that it is not the League's business, and they leave. At the end, the Chairmen are seen speaking to a council of shrouded figures, who state that Buddy Blank has outlived his usefulness and must be terminated.

Quick note, this next one is probably my favorite episode...

Episode Eight: Drink From the Ocean- Aquaman is enjoying his time with his wife Mera, after being away from her for several months. However, Aquaman receives a distress call from the Lady of the Lake, telling him that something is terribly wrong in the oceans. Aquaman and Mera travel to the place of the disturbance, and find that a powerful nexus is engulfing all life in the sea. There, they encounter Mister E (I wanted to use someone really obscure). Aquaman mistakenly believes that Mister E is the source of the disturbance and attacks him, but the misunderstanding is quickly resolved. Mister E claims to see great goodness within Aquaman, but also a lingering evil. As Aquaman, Mera and Mister E investigate the anomaly, they find the Cult of the Thirst making human ritual sacrifices. They battle the cult, but when Aquaman refuses to acknowledge that he was wrong about the cult no longer existing, Mister E says that he has identified the evil within Aquaman as pride. Despite the heroes' best efforts, The Thirst is unleashed and begins devouring all natural life. The Thirst nearly kills the heroes, but Mister E transports them to the moon, saving their lives. Mister E then looks into the future and sees that if they don't stop The Thirst, Earth will be a lifeless, withered husk within three days. The heroes return to Earth, and Aquaman is forced to bond with the Lady of the Lake in order to defeat The Thirst. But before he can, he must cleanse himself of all evil. Mister E takes Aquaman back to his "greatest defeat," the day his son was murdered. Aquaman is forced to swallow his pride and come to terms with the fact that he failed, and was unable to save his son. He is then able to merge with the Lady of the Lake and use her power to defeat The Thirst.

*Episode Nine: All Star- During a press conference, a reporter asks Superman what it feels like to be the last of his kind. Superman responds, "I've never really thought about it. I've always just considered myself one of you." At this, the crowd bursts into laughter, and the reporter points out that Superman is certainly not human. This deeply bothers the man of steel, and he begins to grow lonely, suddenly feeling separated from the world he had always considered home. Here, we meet Supergirl for the first time in the series, as she tries to comfort her cousin at the Fortress of Solitude. It is short lived, however, when Steel contacts Superman and tells him that a monster is attacking Metropolis. The Justice League arrives to find Doomsday rampaging through the streets. The League battles Doomsday, but the monster proves to be unkillable and devastates the battlefield. The League call in all of their reserve members to aid in the fight, and Superman notes that Doomsday seems even more powerful than usual. Superman is beaten to the brink of death, and collapses in the street. However, several citizens of Metropolis arrive to cheer Superman on, urging him to fight, motivating him as best they can. Inspired by his adoration among the world's citizens, Superman uses the last of his energy to fly into the sun. His body hyper-metabolizes the direct light, and the sun-dipped Superman rockets back to Earth and defeats Doomsday. The League traps Doomsday in a moon-based prison, to keep him from regenerating on Earth.

*Episode Ten: Humanity- Lex Luthor, in hopes of further increasing his momentum in the presidential campaign, creates the Human Defense Corps. The corps is made up of 100 of the best soldiers Earth has to offer, carrying weaponry that was reverse-engineered from salvaged Apokoliptian tech, after the war in season one. Leading the Corps is General Wade Eiling. Hal Jordan is off-Earth for this episode, and filling in for him is John Stewart. Meanwhile, the JLI is deployed by Maxwell Lord to search the ruins of what used to be the hideout of Dr. Ivo and T.O. Morrow. They accidentally release one of the mad-scientist's unfinished creations; The Shaggy Man. The Shaggy Man makes short work of the JLI and heads off to wreak havoc. The Justice League go to stop the monster's rampage in the forest, before it reaches any cities. Unfortunately, the Human Defense Corps shows up as well. General Eiling is fiercely distrusting of the Justice League, believing they are a threat to humanity. The H.D.C. defeats the Shaggy Man, and takes him to S.T.A.R. Labs for study. Once there, however, the bio-technology composing the Shaggy Man bonds with General Eiling. He transforms into the very thing he hates; a metahuman. Blaming the JLI for his transformation, since they released Shaggy Man, he attacks them with his new powers. The JLA and JLI fight together to put a stop to the General's rampage. And during it all, Superman feels his powers mysteriously waning.

Episode Eleven: Stars- Green Lantern is asked to star as a stunt double in a movie about him. Bothered by the fact that he is only a stunt double in his own movie, he accepts regardless. However, because of Hal's involvement, stuntman Dan Cassidy was denied the role. Because of this, Dan is unable to pay rent and is evicted from his home, resulting in a breakup with his girlfriend. Angered and disgruntled, Dan is approached by the demon Neron, who offers Dan real power, with which he can take his life back. Dan eagerly accepts, and his body is bonded to a costume from an old B movie he starred in, becoming the Blue Devil and gaining demonic powers. Dan quickly realizes, however, that he cannot remove the costume. Blaming Green Lantern, he attacks the hero on the movie set, and the two battle it out before the directer of the movie is revealed to be Neron himself, who had orchestrated the entire ordeal. Hal and Blue Devil join forces against Neron. When the smoke clears, Blue Devil is made an honorary member of the Justice League.

*Episode Twelve: Conspirators- The Global Peace Agency announces their support of Lex Luthor's presidential candidacy. Green Arrow, still suspicious of the Agency after their dealings in "OMAC," finds someone who he believes can help shed some light on the Agency; The Question. Question explains the GPA's ties to the Checkmate organization, a clandestine society sponsored by the UN to keep metahumans under surveillance. Arrow questions whether or not Luthor is part of Checkmate, but Question says no, Luthor is just a pawn and likely isn't even aware of Checkmate's existence. When Question tries to hack the GPA's mainframe, Brother Eye seizes control of his computer and detonates it. Green Arrow convinces Black Canary to help, and the trio infiltrate the GPA HQ, fighting Micheal Costner, the new OMAC, in the process. However, they are shocked to learn that the GPA chairmen are actually androids, puppeteered by the Brother Eye satellite. Also, during this episode, Superman goes to S.T.A.R. Labs, trying to find why his powers are weakening. Dr. Hamilton reveals to him that when he sun-dipped in "All-Star," his body absorbed more sunlight than it could metabolize, and the excess radiation is now degenerating his cells. He is dying. Later, Superman is summoned to Luthor's office. Luthor states that he knows Superman is dying, and that he is the one who released Doomsday in episode 8. Luthor gives Superman a temporary "cure" to his cellular degeneration. But the antidote will not last forever, and if Superman wants more, he will have to come crawling back to Luthor. As Superman bitterly leaves, Lex reminds him; "Didn't I tell you, Superman? I always win."

*Episode Thirteen: Power- A Justice League toyline launches, funded by Maxwell Lord. Booster Gold complains to Lord that the JLI didn't get a toyline, to which Lord replies that the JLA is still the larger franchise, and he has to turn a profit. Later, crimes begin happening all over America that paint the Justice League as the perpetrators! The Human Defense Corps requests the help of the JLI in bringing the League to justice. Blue Beetle is suspicious, however, and launches his own investigation. He finds that the Justice League toys are being created by Toyman, recently released from prison on request from the Global Peace Agency. Blue Beetle sees that Toyman has built life-sized Justice League "toys" which are committing the crimes. Beetle rallies up the JLI and they battle Toyman's forces. Eventually, Toyman unleashes "Amazo 2.0," or "Son of Amazo." After Blue Beetle defeats Amazo, the JLI capture Toyman and return him to prison. However, Blue Beetle is disturbed when Toyman refers to the JLI as "Pawns of Checkmate." Later, Blue Beetle confronts Maxwell Lord, and says that he doesn't trust him. Lord replies, "Power is a funny thing, Mr. Kord, in that it never stays in one place for too long. Right now, the Justice League are the most powerful people on Earth. Or so they think. And I'll let them continue thinking that, until all of their power is gone. I chose you and the rest of your International team because you were the ones who are easy to manipulate, Mr. Kord. I have power over you. But once all the power is mine, well... the pawns become insignificant. You are nothing, Mr. Kord. Remember that before you continue sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Lord then hands a wine glass to Blue Beetle and toasts, "Checkmate."

Episode Fourteen: On Metal Wings- Archaeologist Carter Hall makes a surprising find; the comatose Shayera Hol buried within the sands of Egypt. When the Gentleman Ghost attempts to possess Shayera and use her against Hawkman, he is surprised to learn that she has Nth metal inside of her body. Shayera awakes and, confused by her surroundings, goes on a rampage. Hawkman proves unable to subdue her, and summons the Justice League for help. Wonder Woman captures Shayera and calms her down, and they learn that Shayera has no member of how she got to Earth. Meanwhile, Gentleman Ghost possesses Resurrection Man and uses his power to create a horde of zombies, among which is Solomon Grundy. Meanwhile, J'onn tries to dig into Shayera's mind and find her repressed memories, but finds that she has a strong resistance to telepathy, which Hawkman points out is natural to Thanagarians. Hawkgirl is impatient and begins to leave, when suddenly Deadman arrives and warns the League that Gentleman Ghost is coming after Hawkman for vengeance, and he has an army. The League, aligned with Hawkman, Hawkgirl and Deadman, battle Gentleman Ghost's army. During it all, Deadman explains to Shayera that he just wants to cross over. When she points out that perhaps there is a good reason for him to be here, he says, "Well maybe the same applies to you." Taking his words to heart, after the threat is defeated, Hawkgirl decides to join the Justice League, at least until she can regain her memories of how she came to Earth.

Episode Fifteen: The Other Trinity- Kara Kent, Barbara Gordan and Cassie Sandsmark are assigned to monitor the Watchtower on a Saturday night, while the League is out fighting crime. Cyclone is there as well, but the three girls mostly ignore her because of her youth. Kara, bored and scorned at her cousin for giving her monitor duty, begins messing with items in the trophy room and accidentally releases several prisoners from the Phantom Zone, including General Zod! Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl team up to try and prevent the criminals from escaping the Watchtower, but the one who winds up saving the day is Cyclone.

*Episode Sixteen: Demigod- Circe casts a powerful spell which traps every man on Earth in the realm of Hades. Wonder Woman, Black Canary and Hawkgirl, who Diana still does not trust, are left to try and stop Circe and correct reality. During the battle, Diana's lasso is destroyed. Friendship grows between Diana and Hawkgirl, but at the end of the episode, Hawkgirl freezes in time as Ares arrives to speak to Diana privately. Diana demands to know how Ares escaped his imprisonment in season one, to which Ares simply replies that no prison can hold him forever. He then offers Diana new lasso. At first she refuses, but Ares insists that it is a well-meaning gift to his half-sister, taunting Diana with the knowledge that she is Zeus' daughter, something she has kept hidden from the team. Ares then unfreezes Hawkgirl and leaves Diana with the new lasso. Later, Checkmate representatives are seen in a board room, stating that it is time to begin "Project Genocide."

Episode Seventeen: Fables- The Queen of Fables traps the Justice League inside her twisted storybook, placing each of them into demented fairytale roles.

Episode Eighteen: Ape$h!t Crazy- Flash is looking forward to spending quality time with the family, but unfortunately his vacation is put on hold when he receives an urgent telepathic distress call from none other than Gorilla Grodd. Flash races to Grodd's location, where Grodd explains that a terrible plague has infected Gorilla City, driving it's inhabitants mad. Grodd has been able to resist the plague's influence through telepathic control of his immune system, but it is slowly getting the better of him. Grodd has developed a device that can cure the plague, but Flash will need to bring it to the center of Gorilla City before midnight, when the plague will become fatal. Flash takes the device, strapped to his back, and agrees to help. Assisted by Animal Man and Bwana Beast, neither of whom Flash has even heard of before, Flash races to Gorilla City. They are being kept in constant telepathic contact with Grodd, who will guide them through the city. Once they get there, they find the inhabitants driven into a violent frenzy by the plague. The heroes battle their way through the city, and as the fighting goes on Flash realizes that there is more to the plague than there seems. As Flash's race against the clock becomes narrower and narrower, it is revealed that the "plague" is in fact the doing of Psycho Pirate, who has been feeding off of the gorilla's primal rage to fuel his power. Flash defeats Psycho Pirate by weakening him with happy thoughts of his family, especially his nephew Wally. Flash activates the device at the last minute and saves Gorilla City.

*Episode Nineteen: Infiltrator- Green Arrow goes undercover in a new government organization, the Suicide Squad, when The Question gives the League intel that the Suicide Squad's commander, Amanda Waller, may be tied to Checkmate. Green Arrow impersonates Merlyn, an archery-themed villain who was originally set to be on the team, but was intercepted by the League before his arrival. The Suicide Squad's first mission is to break into Warehouse X, a heavily guarded government facility to store items too dangerous for public exposure, and steal two items; Mad Hatter's mind control chips, and another top-secret object held within the deepest sector of the warehouse. The chief of security at Warehouse X is The Guardian, and he has at his disposal several members of the Human Defense Corps, as well as a few other government themed superheroes. The Suicide Squad puts together an elaborate plan to infiltrate the building, partnering "Merlyn" with Deadshot. During the break in, Green Arrow forms a genuine friendship with Deadshot. The mission goes off without a hitch until GA refuses to kill Guardian, blowing his own cover in the process. A battle erupts between Green Arrow, Guardian and the Suicide Squad, from which Arrow only escapes because Deadshot, in a moment of kindness, does not take what would have been a kill shot. The Suicide Squad escapes with both Mad Hatter's inhibitor chips and the mysterious object in the briefcase. Later, when Amanda Waller presents the briefcase to Checkmate, the item is revealed to be Wonder Woman's old lasso, which she lost in "Demigod." Maxwell Lord is then finally confirmed to be the Black King of Checkmate, and states that they now have everything they need for Project Genocide.

*Episode Twenty: American Dream- Superman's disease is progressing faster and faster, and he is needing Luthor's "cure" more and more frequently. He has started running errands for Luthor in order to get supplies of the cure, including public humiliation. The man of steel's mood is not helped when the presidential campaign is decided, and Lex Luthor becomes the President of the United States. Uncle Sam and his Freedom Fighters arrive at the inauguration to show their support, as well as a very excited Captain Marvel. The ceremony is interrupted, however, when Captain Nazi, leading a cadre of Nazi-themed villains, attack and kidnap Luthor. Superman, Captain Marvel and the Freedom Fighters head off to save Luthor, much to Superman's dismay. Uncle Sam quickly befriends Superman, and mentions that understand Superman's doubt, because he too is well aware of Luthor's criminal activities. Superman asks why Uncle Sam chooses to support Luthor then, to which Uncle Sam replies that he loves America too much not too. The villains are defeated, but when Luthor taunts Superman that he has to save him to save himself, and that Luthor holds all the power over Superman's life, the man of steel nearly leaves Luthor to die. Lex only makes it out of the self-destructing compound alive because of Captain Marvel. Marvel then rebukes Superman, telling him that he doesn't act like a hero anymore. At the episode's end, Checkmate representatives are shown celebrating that Luthor is now in presidential office. Maxwell Lord is finally revealed to be the Black King of Checkmate, and says that thus far, everything is going according to plan.

Episode Twenty-One: Fears- J'onn is feeling hopelessly alone on Earth, and having horrible nightmares. Meanwhile, Plastic Man is attempting to get membership in the JLA, but the team continues to refuse him. When J'onn begins to suspect that a splinter cell of the White Martians may still be alive on Earth, he launches a solo investigation. However, Plastic Man soon catches on and tags along. The two find the splinter cell of white martians, but to J'onn's surprise, they are led by his brother Malefic! Malefic reveals that, because of his jealously toward J'onn, it was him to unleashed the plague that killed the Green Martian race. J'onn and Plastic Man battle Malefic and the White Martians, but J'onn's mix of emotions manifest in the psychic terror Fernus! Plastic Man battles Furnace while J'onn takes on his brother. In the end, J'onn is forced to overcome his fear and loneliness. When he does so, Fernus is weakened enough for Plas to destroy. The two then defeat Malefic, and J'onn awards Plastic Man honorary League membership.

Episode Twenty-Two: Emperor Joker- In the 5th Dimension, Mr. Mxyzptlk learns that Superman is dying, and heads to Earth to try and understand what that means. Superman quickly makes Mx promise not to tell the League that he is dying, as he is still keeping it a secret. Mx sticks around, despite Superman's best efforts to get rid of him, and annoys the League until Superman finally blows up on him, verbally abusing Mx and making him leave. A disgruntled Mxyzptlk decides that he doesn't like Superman anymore, and goes to find a new idol. He stumbles across the Joker, who tricks Mx into giving him his powers. Joker then re-writes reality, turning Earth into a cube, making the Justice League the world's villains and crowning himself President of the World. As the League battles the forces of Emperor Joker, led by Ignition and Bizarro, Batman grows suspicious about Superman's health. Later, while the League distracts Joker, Batman obtains the help of Bat-Mite and, with Bat-Mite's power, matches Emperor Joker and sets reality straight.

*Episode Twenty-Three: Revelations- The League decides it is time to close in on the Checkmate organization. They already know that the Global Peace Agency was all a fraud, controlled by Brother Eye, which they now know is controlled by Checkmate, who also employed the Suicide Squad, Toyman, and are piggybacking off of Luthor's presidency. Question is able to find the Black King's bank account, under a false name of course, and realizes that a large sum is money is being periodically transferred to crime lords in Gotham. Green Arrow, Black Canary and Question travel to Gotham to investigate what connection the mob could possibly have to Checkmate, and encounter The Huntress, who is on her own personal violent crusade against organized crime. After a misunderstanding leads to a fight between Huntress and Canary, Huntress agrees to help the team. Meanwhile, Batman learns that the White King of Checkmate is Micheal Holt, better known as the hero Mister Terrific. Batman confronts Terrific about this, and he is upfront about his activities, stating that Checkmate was created to keep a close eye on the metahumans of Earth, and ensure that humankind always stays one step ahead. However, Mr. Terrific seems genuinely oblivious to the news about the Suicide Squad, nor is he aware that the Global Peace Agency was all a ploy. Back in Gotham, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Huntress and Question close in on the crime lords being paid by Checkmate, and realize that Dr. Death is being employed to alter the illegal drugs which the mafia traffics across North America. Green Arrow sends a sample of the drugs to the Watchtower for Cyborg to analyze, and he realizes that the drugs are now filled with hundreds of microscopic nanobots. Upon further inspection, he realizes that the nanobots were originally those created by Mister Terrific, which he uses to avoid detection. But now, the nanobots have been augmented with Mad Hatter's inhibitor chips, which were stolen in "Infiltrator." This means that now, whoever uses the drugs will automatically be infected with the nanobots in their bloodstream, making them susceptible to a simple broadcast that would take over their minds. While Green Arrow, Huntress and Black Canary battle the mobsters, along with their enforcer, Bane, Question destroys all of the current supplies of the drugs.

Later, after Batman leaves Mister Terrific, it is revealed that Mister Terrific himself is infected with the nanobots. He contacts Maxwell Lord and utters to simple words; "They know."

*Episode Twenty-Four: Sacrifice- Blue Beetle becomes increasingly suspicious of his employer, Maxwell Lord. He tries to warn the rest of the JLI, but they won't listen. Only Booster Gold will even hear Blue Beetle out. Booster has Skeets attempt to hack Lord's mainframe to see what he can find, and immediately, Skeets is overtaken by Brother Eye and detonates, injuring Booster. Deciding that was the last straw, Blue Beetle sneaks into Lord's castle and begins looking for evidence against him. However, he is soon captured. Lord activates several OMACs, powerful robots, and uses Blue Beetle as their "test dummy." Beetle is beaten to a bloody pulp, but never once loses his charisma. Finally, Lord explains himself to Beetle, and how he believes that metahumans are an abomination to the human race. He believes that metahumans should either be controlled by humans, or exterminated. He then asks if Ted would like to join him, to which Ted replies, "Not a chance, Maxi Pad." Lord shoots Beetle in the head, killing him. He then contacts White Queen, or Amanda Waller, and tells her that Justice League International is become far too bothersome, and he needs Suicide Squad to get rid of them.

*Episode Twenty-Five: Trojan Horse- All of the faces of Checkmate are finally revealed. The Black King, Maxwell Lord, White Queen, Amanda Waller, White King, Micheal Holt (mind controlled), and Black Queen, none other than Queen Bee, proving that the events back in the "OMAC" episode were all perfectly calculated to throw the Justice League off the trail. The leaders of Checkmate then unanimously decide that it is time to enter the final stage of their plan. Waller deploys the Suicide Squad to the JLI HQ, with an in depth plan to kill what is left of the team. Guy Gardner, Batwing, Fire, Ice, Vixen and Red Star attempt to stage an offensive, but without the leadership of Booster and Blue Beetle, they fall victim to the Suicide Squad's highly efficient organization. They then infect the team members with the nanobots, effectively turning them into slaves to Checkmate's will. Then, at the JLA Watchtower, Wonder Woman's new lasso given to her in "Demigod" is revealed to contain similar nanobots. Checkmate activates the lasso, allowing Brother Eye to take control of the Watchtower. The Watchtower's Ion Cannon then fires at Earth, blasting Metropolis and killing thousands! The people of Earth immediately blame the Justice League for the attack, and President Luthor declares war on the League. The Human Defense Corps, along with Justice League International, now under the control of Checkmate, invade the Watchtower and battle the League. They gather together in the hanger, and the team questions where Wonder Woman got the lasso, and she finally reveals that it was a gift from Ares. When Batman demands to know why she never mentioned it, she states that Ares gave it to her because she is his half-sister, something that she did not want the League to know.

The Watchtower is torn apart by the battle, and the League is forced to escape to the catacombs beneath Happy Harbor, leaving Checkmate in control of the Watchtower.

*Episode Twenty-Six: Divided We Fall- While taking refuge in the ruins of the Justice Cave, Red Tornado points out that Checkmate seemed to have a thorough knowledge of all their weaknesses. Batman then reveals that when Brother Eye took control of the Watchtower, it got into his files... where he had stored detailed records on the team's weaknesses, in case he ever had to use them. This sparks a major argument about trust. Superman, meanwhile, is further succumbing to his illness, and finally reveals to the team that he is dying, and that he has been receiving treatments from Luthor in exchange for information about the Watchtower's infrastructure, which is likely how the Human Defense Corps was able to formulate such a sound strategy for infiltrating the tower. Amidst the anger, Green Arrow points out that all three of the Trinity had been keeping huge secrets from the team. He says, "It's no wonder Checkmate doesn't trust us. How can we expect the world to trust us, when we can't even trust each other?" After the bitter feud reaches its climax, the League separates, each going their own ways. They are then easily taken down and defeated by the Human Defense Corps, all of whom have been turned into OMACs. The episode ends with the Justice League unconscious, brought to Maxwell Lord's castle. He prepares, and states that it's time for the games to begin.

*Episode Twenty-Seven: United We Stand- Booster Gold finally recovers from his injuries in "Sacrifice" to find his team has been brainwashed, and the Justice League has been captured. Moving frantically, he pools together all of the League's reserve members; Plastic Man, Firestorm, Blue Devil, Animal Man, Bwana Beast, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Captain Marvel, and any others who appeared in the show previously. Together, they formulate a plan to storm Lord's castle and rescue the Justice League. And Booster vows to take down Lord, in order to avenge the death of his best friend. Meanwhile, at Lord's castle, Maxwell prepares to broadcast the "Justice League being brought to justice" on live television. He taunts the League with the knowledge that Checkmate has defeated them from within. He points out that they were offered a chance to join Checkmate and serve humanity under humanity's own jurisdiction (he offered them this way back in the 2nd episode of the season) but they refused, and now they had to pay the price. He prepares to have them executed by the OMACs when Booster's rag-tag team of heroes arrive, having defeated the brainwashed JLI through efficient teamwork. The heroes free the Justice League, who easily defeat Queen Bee, Amanda Waller and free Mister Terrific of his brainwashing. As a last resort, Lord unleashes Genocide, his greatest creation. Genocide was created from the soil of the site of every great genocide over the last few centuries, and its body was integrated with Wonder Woman's old lasso, which was stolen from Warehouse X in "Infiltrator." Genocide proves able to easily match the League, having ridiculous power. Genocide smacks the heroes around ferociously, and Superman succumbs to his illness, falling lifeless to the ground. However, Lex Luthor is watching the events unfold from Lord's broadcast, and is enraged that he was only a pawn in Checkmate's game. Luthor delivers Superman a permanent cure to his illness. When Superman asks why, Lex responds, "I always win, remember? That still applies even if I have to share a victory with the likes of you." Using Luthor's cure, Superman returns to the fight and brings the Justice League back together.

And now for the final episode of the season... but there's one more twist, ladies and gentlemen. I assure you of that...

**Episode Twenty-Eight: Checkmate- Superman leads the Justice League on an offensive and finally subdues the rampaging Genocide. However, the defeated body of Genocide is revealed to contain a nuclear warhead, which is now set to detonate! Maxwell Lord flees to his private jet, but before taking off, Brother Eye seizes control of the jet. Lord demands to know what is happening, and Brother Eye reasons that it was created for the purpose of protecting humans. This meant destroying metahumans. But Lord killed Ted Kord, who was human. Brother Eye states that this has been puzzling him for quite some time, and now he has only been able to reach one logical conclusion; humans are a constant threat to other humans. Therefore, the only way to truly protect the human race is to exterminate it. Brother Eye detonates Lord's plane, killing him. Brother Eye then reveals his plan to turn every living being into OMACs by spreading the nanobots into the atmosphere, effectively "evolving" humankind and saving it form itself. To ensure that the Justice League will not interfere, Brother Eye takes over the body of Genocide, and loads new programming into Genocide to "improve on Lord's design." The Justice League takes on the newly improved Genocide, while the rest of the heroes battle Brother Eye's growing horde of OMACs. In the most intense fight of the JLA's career, Genocide maintains the upper hand over the League. However, Red Tornado, believing that he now understands the full realm of human emotion, decides to make a sacrifice. He latches onto Genocide and detonates himself. Both Genocide and Red Tornado are destroyed in the blast. Cyborg then tries to hack Brother Eye and reason with him, but proves unsuccessful. Batman opts instead to crash the Watchtower into Brother Eye, effectively destroying it. Green Lantern puts up a shield to contain the explosion, and with Brother Eye destroyed, Cyborg is finally able to hack the OMAC network and shut down the growing nanobot control over the population.

Superman calls one last press conference, in which the entire Justice League takes center stage, and all of Earth's other heroes stand to the side. Here, Superman proclaims that the Justice League will work to regain the world's trust. They will now reside permanently in the Hall of Justice, and will agree to hold no secrets from the public. However, Batman opts to leave the team, preferring work in the shadows, and knowing that his teammates would likely never trust him again. Superman announces that the Justice League will form several divided, splinter teams. That way, no one group of heroes will ever become too powerful. Mister Terrific is assigned to organized Earth's heroes into their new Leagues.

How will the roster turn out? Well, that will be revealed in season 3! Speaking of which, do you guys want me to post Season 3 when I finish it? I know a lot of you were looking forward to Season 2, so is your interest still captivated enough for a third installment? Let me know!

Justice League: Season One

Recently I've been batting around ideas in my mind for a new Justice League animated series, one to coincide with the New 52. I've put together a list of the episodes in the first season, along with brief descriptions. After working on it over the next year or so to get everything smoothed out, I plan on making a pitch to DC entertainment. I would love to know what you guys think about it. The starred episodes are ones that relate to over-arching plot that will lead into the season finale, and the unstarred episodes are stand-alone, not relating to the overall season plot. I feel like the first two episodes are slightly cliche, but after that it only gets better!

*Episode One: The Invasion pt. 1- The episode to kickstart the series. We meet each member of the team individually; Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Cyborg (Don't worry, Aquaman will join, just not yet) as they each deal with the invasion of none other than Starro. We see some interaction between the heroes, but they are quite unwilling to work together. However, as the infestation of mind-controlling stars grows, they begin to realize that the threat may be too large for any one hero to handle. The episode ends with Superman being infected, and brought under Starro's control.

*Episode Two: The Invasion pt. 2- After freeing Superman of Starro's influence, the team groups together and forms a plan. Flash, while scanning for non-infected people among the swarms of minions, comes across Snapper Carr, a young man who seems to be strangely immune to Starro's control (this is taken from the pre-new 52 comics). Flash takes Snapper to the team, where Cyborg analyzes him to find the source of his immunity, and realizes that the lime covering Snapper's hands (from doing yard work) is repelling the Starro-probes. With this knowledge, Cyborg builds the Cybomb, which, when detonated, will release a powerful concentration of lime extract over a wide area. The team then heads toward Starro himself, who has begun to drain the life energy of those under his control. While Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash distract Starro's attention, drawing his army toward them, Hal pilots the Bat-plane, which is carrying the Cybomb. Hal crashes the plane into Starro's eye, plunging them inside of the monster. Batman and Hal then battle their way to the center of Starro, where Batman unleashes the Cybomb, and Hal puts up a shield to protect the two of them. Starro is severely weakened by the blast, and Superman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg defeat him while Flash separates the weakened Starro probes from everyone who is infected. Then the Justice League officially forms, and Snapper Carr sticks around to record their adventures and serve as their Public Relations guy.

Episode Three: Jailbreak- A massive breakout attempt at Belle Reeve penitentiary draws the attention of the Justice League. The criminals at Belle Reeve have formed two factions. One faction is led by Anarchy, the other by Metallo. Metallo has taken Amanda Waller, warden at Belle Reeve, hostage, and is demanding immunity in exchange for her life. Anarcy, on the other hand, has taken over a last-resort security protocol on the island; a satellite laser defense system. Anarchy plans to use the satellite to wreak his special brand of havoc on the Pentagon, but Amanda Waller has the passcodes to activate it, which has led to war between the two villainous factions, since both want Waller. The Justice League arrives to help restore order to Belle Reeve. However, the team is in heavy turmoil over who should lead, with fierce debate between Superman and Batman. Due to lack of team work, the whole mission falls apart and the League is nearly defeated. Finally, Wonder Woman decides that Batman will be the teams "general," making plans/strategies and keeping the League organized, but Superman will be the field leader, and it will be up to him to lead the team in executing those plans. If at any point they cannot agree, Wonder Woman will be the mediator. Once this is decided, the Justice League springs into action and, through teamwork, defeats the feuding villains and restores order to Belle Reeve.

These descritpions are getting a bit longer than intended. I'll have to watch that more carefully.

Episode Four: Terror In The Seas- Hundreds of people begin to mysteriously disappear in coastal cities throughout America. The Justice League decides to investigate, and of course meets Aquaman, who is also interested in the disappearances. Together, they uncover a conspiracy by Black Manta. Manta has built a device capable of mimicking Aquaman's aquatic telepathy, and is using it to control The Trench, having them kidnap humans and bring them to his underwater lab where he is "experimenting." Through a fierce battle with The Trench and Manta, the League frees the captive humans, and Aquaman joins their ranks.

Episode Five: The Greatest Weapon- The Green Lantern is attacked by Epoch, Lord of Time, a time-traveling warrior who integrates the weapons and fighting techniques from every era into his armor. He is now determined to claim a Green Lantern power ring to add to his collection and, feeling that humans are the weakest organisms in the galaxy, has decided that Hal Jordan would be the easiest target. What he didn't count on, however, was an encounter with the Justice League...

*Episode Six: Trinity- While the rest of the League takes a much-needed vacation, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman stumble into a conspiracy to ignite a war between America and Russia. At the forefront of the plot are Lex Luthor, who plans to sell weapons to both sides of the war, and Ares, the god of war himself, who plans to feed off of the bloodshed to bolster his power. However, Batman notices something strangely amiss when Luthor has access to weaponry far beyond anything human scientists can even fathom. The three heroes wind up on Themyscira, battling Ares, and manage to lock him away in the Phantom Zone. However, because Diana brought men to Themyscira, she is banished from the island. The episode ends with Luthor talking to a mysterious, shadowed figure, talking about the next supply of weaponry. Luthor than states that Ares had served his role, and everything had gone according to plan...

Episode Seven: Chemical Warfare- The Chemo attacks the Eastern seaboard, and the League goes to stop him. Superman becomes infected with the Chemo's toxins. Batman recruits The Atom to help. Along with Flash and Green Lantern, Atom shrinks down and goes inside Superman to combat the spreading infection. Meanwhile, the rest of the League tries to halt Chemo's progress, and Batman traces the attack to its source... Ra's Al Ghul.

*Episode Eight: Dreams- In the beginning of this episode, Hal Jordan points out that Batman is the only one who has not revealed his secret identity to the team. That ignites a heated dispute about trusting the team. Later, Batman is attacked by Dr. Destiny. By probing through Batman's mind, Dr. Destiny finds the location of the Justice League HQ, and attacks the League in their dreams. Green Lantern eventually frees Batman from his nightmares, learning that he is Bruce Wayne in the process, as well as learning about the death of his parents. Batman defeats Dr. Destiny, and finally entrusts the team with his identity. Later, Luthor is seen speaking to the same shadowed figured as before, who states that Dr. Destiny failed. Luthor than states that it is time to move on to plan B.

Episode Nine: Mistakes of The Elders- The Justice League meets up with the JSA. However, the novelty of the meeting is short lived when Plasma Monsters attack Star City. It proves to be a front, however when Baron Blitzkrieg uses the distraction to sneak into JSA headquarters and use a large dimensional-device saved from an old mission. When the new Black Canary, who Wildcat made to stay behind, finds Blitzkrieg, the two fight and Blitzkrieg raves about the "man in his head" telling him what to do. Blitzkrieg defeats Canary and uses the machine to rip open a small portal, and out emerges... Triumph! I'm changing Triumph's history a bit here. He was still the son of an evil scientist, trained by Hourman to become a hero, but now he was a member of the JSA instead of the JLA. He was lost in the time stream on a previous mission, and forgotten about. Now he's made contact with Baron Blitzkrieg through his manipulation of radio waves, and used him to achieve freedom. Triumph, angry over being forgotten, attacks the JSA. He did not age during his time lost in the time stream, and is much more powerful than any of them. While the JSA try to clean up their own mess, the Justice League battle the hordes of Plasma Monsters, along with Black Canary, who Wild Cat would not let fight Triumph. After defeating the Plasma Monsters, the League finds Triumph draining the life energy of a defeated JSA. The team battles him, and Black Canary tends to Wild Cat's wounds, where she learns about the death of her mother. Then, realizing that sound is the one energy Triumph cannot absorb, she uses her sonic scream to defeat him. Black Canary then joins the Justice League, with Wild Cat's blessing.

*Episode Ten: Red Dawn- A distress call brings the League to Russia, where a devastating nuclear meltdown had wiped out a village. The mysterious part is that the village had no nuclear plants. Captain Atom, investigating for the U.S. Government, strongly suspects Red Star to be guilty of the destruction. Cyborg doubts Red Star's guilt, however, and tries to find proof against it. He winds up finding a massive Nuclear monster similar to the one in the first episode of JLU. Superman, Red Star, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Captain Atom battle the creature while the rest of the League try to find out where the monster came from. However, the only information they are able to find is that it "Came from the sky." At the end, Lex Luthor is shown saying that the new weapon was tested successfully.

Episode Eleven: Perfect Storm- A massive storm sweeps across North America. The League immediately suspects Weather Wizard, but are proven wrong when they are attacked by none other than Red Tornado. Tornado, recently built, is fulfilling his programming... to kill the Justice League. While the League battles Red Tornado and attempts to save as many live as possible in the storm, Cyborg is determined to convince Red Tornado that he can act beyond his programming, and that he can have free will. In the end, Tornado decides that Cyborg may be correct, and attempts to kill T.O. Morrow. He is again stopped by the League, and, after being convinced that killing is wrong, goes to try and "find his place" in the world.

Episode Twelve: Marvels- Billy Batson is granted the powers of Captain Marvel. At the same time however, Dr. Sivana brings Black Adam back to Earth and the two form an allegiance. While battling the forces of the Black Adam and Dr. Sivana, Superman attempts to teach Billy what it really means to be a hero.

*Episode Thirteen: Visitors From the Stars- Batman is investigating a series of arson crimes, and his search causes him to cross paths with Detective John Jones. Batman quickly determines that John is not human, and that he has a vulnerability to fire. Using a simple lighter, Batman forces John to reveal that he is a Martian. The two then encounter the Human Flame, responsible for all of the crimes they are investigating, and defeat him together. Batman tells Martian Manhunter that they will be in touch. While all of this is going on, Orion visits Superman, and tells him that he believes Apokolips may be active on Earth.

*Episode Fourteen: Targeted- A multi-billion dollar peace treaty makes Lex Luthor the target of several assassination attempts. Luthor contacts the Justice League for protection, and they grudgingly accept. However, they are facing a team of assassins led by Deathstroke the Terminator, meaning that protecting Luthor may be easier said than done. In the end, it is revealed that Luthor himself ordered the assassination attempts, and that the League's entire performance against the assassins was "recorded for study."

Episode Fifteen: Endless- Flash, insecure about his role on the team, has been having nightmares about being chased by a Black Flash. His feelings of insecurity are not helped when the League goes on a mission in which his powers would be useless, so he stays behind. However, the HQ is then visited by Dr. Fate and Death of the Endless. A cadre of magic-using villains have attacked The Endless, and want to obtain Destiny's book, with which they could re-write reality. Dr. Fate came to help the Endless, but his powers proved insufficient to battle the villains alone, so he came to the League for help. He is disappointed when Flash is the only one there, but Flash goes along nonetheless. Flash befriends Death, although Dr. Fate seems to not like him. During a battle with the villains, Dr. Fate's helmet is removed. Kent Nelson shares his own insecurities that without the helmet he is useless, but Flash tells him that its not the helmet that makes him a hero, its the man wearing it. Flash is killed during the battle, and winds up in a race with Black Flash. He is saved by Death, but when he thanks her, she says, "No need to thank me. You would have won." In the end, the villains are defeated and Flash leaves with a new confidence.

Episode Sixteen: Fallen Angels- The Angel Zuriel is cast out of Heaven by Asmodel the general of the angelic army, because Zauriel threatened to expose his conspiracies against Heaven's laws. Zauriel seeks out the Justice League for help, telling them that Asmodel and the demon Neron plan to ignite a war between Heaven and Hell that will devastate the Earth, and end with Neron in control of the Earth and Asmodel in control of Heaven. The team is soon joined by the demon Etrigan who has uncovered the same plot. While the Justice League battles the forces of Neron and Asmodel, Etrigan and Zauriel bicker furiously, having a deep rooted grudge against one another. By the end, however, the two form an uneasy friendship. The League defeats Neron and Asmodel and casts them both into the deepest pits of Hell.

*Episode Seventeen: Prometheus- After studying the footage from the episode "Targeted," Prometheus has formulated a plan to destroy the Justice League one by one. Given his weaponry by Lex Luthor, Prometheus infiltrates the Justice League HQ and proceeds to easily defeat each member one at a time. Eventually only Batman is left standing, and is forced to use every ounce of his skill to save his friends. At the end of the episode, Luthor is once again shown talking to his shadowed benefactor, and states that while Prometheus failed to kill the League, he did fulfill the first priority of his mission. It is then revealed that Prometheus stole the last remaining Starro probe, which was frozen in the League's trophy room.

*Episode Eighteen: Dead Space- Hal Jordan receives an emergency distress call from Kilowog, and heads off to see what is going on. In Hal's absence, Guy Gardner fills in for him on Earth. Hal goes to investigate the ship which the distress call came from, and finds a small squadron of Green Lanterns hiding within the ship, their rings low on power. Kilowog explains to Hal that strange spores had latched onto crew members on the ship, and turned them into bloodthirsty monsters. Hal and the few remaining Green Lanterns on board battle the infected crew members, but members of their group are slowly picked off one by one. Eventually, when Hal is the last man on the ship not affected by the strange spores, he steers the ship into the gravitational pull of a nearby sun and burns the spores off of the victims before narrowly escaping. When he returns to Earth, Batman has already punched Guy unconscious. At the end, Lex Luthor says that the spores were successfully tested as weapons, and his mysterious ally is finally revealed as Darkseid.

Episode Nineteen: Amazo- The last episode before the start of the finale. Amazo attacks the Justice League, Red Tornado returns, joins the League, and after a difficult battle they defeat Amazo.

*Episode Twenty: The Hyperclan- The Hyperclan comes to Earth to replace the Justice League as its protectors, and treats villains with lethal force. The League is suspicious of the Hyperclan, especially when people all around the world begin to disappear. Meanwhile, Aquaman goes back to Atlantis and learns that his brother Orm is now ruling Atlantis. Batman eventually learns that the Hyperclan are White Martians in disguise, but before he can expose them he is attacked, and Bruce Wayne is "replaced" with a White Martian counterpart.

*Episode Twenty-One: Harvest Pt. 1- Batman has joined the ranks of the humans held captive by the White Martians. Also among the captives are Big Barda, Mr. Miracle and, especially surprising to Batman, Hippolyta. Orion is still investigating Apokoliptian activity on Earth, and finds that LexCorp has been getting weapons shipments from Apokolips. He then traces a Boom Tube portal and realizes that LexCorp and Apokoliptian scientists are building something underneath Themyscira! Around the time he is discovering this, the Amazons of Themyscira declare war on Atlantis. Ocean Master, now ruling Atlantis, is quick to respond. The armies of Themyscira and Atlantis wage war, using the surface world as their battlefield. The League, especially Wonder Woman, are baffled by this. Wonder Woman attempts to return to Themyscira, despite her banishment, to see what is going on and finds that her "mother" is acting strangely. Diana then realizes that the Amazons not willing to fight have been infected with spores, just like the ones Hal fought in the previous episode, that drive them into a violent frenzy. Diana is infected with a spore and attacks the League. Once they subdue her, Cyborg analyzes the spore and realizes that it is made from a genetically modified Starro probe.

The war between Atlantis and Themyscira has decimated North America, and the U.S. Government prepares to respond with weapons a nuclear strike. When Batman supports this, the League knows something is wrong. Hal and Superman subdue Batman and his White Martian replacement is revealed. The League then battels the Hyperclan while Orion finds Martian Manhunter and asks for his help.

*Episode Twenty-Two: Harvest Pt. 2- After defeating the Hyperclan, the Justice League, along with Orion and Martian Manhunter, storm the White Martian nest. They free the captive humans, along with Batman, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda and Hippolyta. Wonder Woman then realizes that the "Hippolyta" currently commanding Themyscira is a fake. Batman defeats the remaining White Martians using gasoline and a lighter, and Mr. Miracle points out that the White Martians continually assaulted his mind searching for something called Anti-Life. They piece the issue together. Lex Luthor has been connected to Apokolips the whole time. The battle with Ares back in "Trinity" was only a ploy to have Wonder Woman banished from Themyscira, so that the White Martians, allied with Apokolips, could "replace" Hippolyta without Diana knowing. The war between Atlantis and Themyscira was set up to draw the U.S. Government into the fray, creating a massive nuclear fallout that would weaken the planet for Apokolips' invasion. The mind-controlling spores were engineered to ensure that the war would happen, without anyone in objection. The White Martians have been probing human minds for bits of something called Anti-Life, and a powerful weapon made from Apokoliptian technology is being constructed underneath Themyscira.

Aquaman goes back to Atlantis to battle Ocean Master and try to stop the violence among his people, while the rest of the League heads to Themyscira. However, as they get there, the weapon is unleashed... Mageddon.

*Episode Twenty-Three: Anti-Life, Pt. 1- Mageddon's influence throws the entire planet into swaths of violence. While the Justice League attempts to quell the violence and destroy Mageddon, Darkseid finally arrives and devastates the League. Superman manages to nearly destroy Mageddon, but it proves too late. Darkseid's forces have finished piecing together the Anti-Life Equation from fragments found within the minds of humans. Darkseid then telepathically links to Mageddon, and uses Mageddon's influence over the entire planet to infect all living beings on Earth with the Anti-Life Equation. Cyborg builds devices that will shield the lead from the effects of the equation, but the rest of humanity falls under Darkseid's Anti-Life spell, becoming mindless extensions of his will.

*Episode Twenty-Four: Anti-Life, Pt. 2- Having been betrayed by Darkseid, Lex Luthor offers Batman a radion bullet, saying that it is the only substance on Earth that can kill Darkseid. Batman refuses to use it, but Lex insists that he take it anyway. The Justice League rallies together and battles Darkseid, along with his army of now mindless zombies. In a fierce and bloody battle, Black Canary finds a sonic frequency that can counteract the Anti-Life Equation. Cyborg hacks several WayneTech satellites and modifies them to broadcast the frequency. However, it will only work if everyone infected with Anti-Life is hit within the same instant. Flash takes a device that will make him the receiver for the satellite broadcast. Flash must then run fast enough to hit every single area of the Earth within the same nanosecond. Flash pushes himself harder than ever before and manages to make it, spreading the signal across the globe and freeing people of Darkseid's control. While the world's armies and heroes gather together against Apokoliptian armies, the Justice League engages in one final fight against Darkseid. In a lengthy battle, Superman finally defeats him. Cyborg opens a Boom Tube to the farthest recesses of the universe in which Darkseid will instantly freeze and drift through space for all eternity. Superman casts him through the Boom Tube, and the forces of Apokolips are beaten back, finally retreating back home. The world is finally safe, and all returns to normal. Meanwhile, Batman keeps the Radion bullet Luthor gave him, just in case...

And there's season one! I'm already working on Season 2 now, which will expand even more upon the DC universe!

If I Were Writing Justice League

We all know that the new Justice League series has been a bit lackluster. It isn't terrible, but it certainly isn't great either. It is because of this that with each issue, I think more and more, "I could write this way better!" So I've decided to compile my ideas to "fix" Justice League and see if any of you out there feel the same way.

Step One: Moving Cyborg

Don't get me wrong, I love Cyborg. I think he is a great character. But when I think Justice League, I just don't think "Cyborg." He feels a bit out of place in the roster. That being said, since I DO like Cyborg, I don't want him to be shortchanged. So what I would do is this: Put the Justice League in some conflict that involves teaming up with the Doom Patrol (Yes, this would also serve as an avenue to reintroduce Doom Patrol). Throughout this arc, Cyborg could be second-guessing his own worth to the team, and longing for a place where he can feel he belongs. I can see him forming a strong attachment to Robot Man, since their origins came about in similar ways.

Once the arc is all wrapped up, Cyborg decides to stay with the Doom Patrol, feeling like he belongs there more than with the Justice League. This would not only put Cyborg in a place where he fits in more, but would serve as a great way to bring the Doom Patrol into the New 52.

Step Two: A Terrific Addition

So with Cyborg gone, who will be the Justice League's technology guru? Why, Mr. Terrific of course. If you really think about it, Mr. Terrific fits the tone of the book perfectly. It feels like he belongs there. He's an absolute genius, and he could definitely fill the tech-void left by Cyborg. Overall, I think he makes more sense on the team, and with his ongoing being cancelled, it's a great way to keep him alive in the New 52.

Step Three: Swapping Out Green Lanterns

The changes don't stop there, though. One of the big issues that I have with Justice League is the involvement of Hal Jordan... because it doesn't make sense. If you read Green Lantern, than you realize that it doesn't really make sense that Hal could even be in the Justice League right now. So what I would do to correct this continuity blunder is simply have him rotate with another Green Lantern. The obvious choice is John Stewart, since he IS Hal's backup, and he did gain some Justice League fame through the JL cartoon.

Step Four: The Dark Departure

Now, I want to prepare you all for the next change, it's a lot to take in... are you ready for this? Batman would leave. Batman is my favorite comic book character of all time, but I don't think he belongs on the Justice League. I never have. Batman is a street-level hero, he has no business taking on the same threats that the Justice League does. He just isn't on that level. Batman should have been a bat splatter on the concrete as soon as Darkseid showed up. I think that he should still have some involvement with the League, perhaps even helps fund them, and Batman should interact with the League from time to time, but I don't think that he should be a full-on member. There isn't even really a need for him. We have Mr. Terrific for technology and science. Being raised as a warrior, Wonder Woman should have some skill in strategy. All Batman brings to the table is his badassery, and I'm afraid it just isn't enough to validate his presence as a full-time member of the team.

Step Five: Swapping Fish

This one is going to piss off a lot of diehard Aquaman fans, I know. But Aquaman doesn't need to be on the Justice League. I prefer Aquaman as the badass loner, and he's never really seemed like the type to affiliate himself with the team to me. But who would replace him, you ask? Why, Tempest of course. The original Aqualad. We've seen the New 52 play with ages, so Garth could easily be old enough to join the League as Tempest. The fact is, Tempest is more versatile. Along with his Atlantean powers, Tempest also has access to magic. A magic user is useful on any team, and Tempest could definitely fill an important role in the Justice League by bringing his sorcery to the table. And personality wise, it seems like he would work better in a team setting. His increased versatility would give him a much larger role on the team than Aquaman would have, and therefore it makes more sense.

Step Six: Electrify It

This one is slightly selfish; I want Black Lightning to be on the roster. I would also give him a bit of a power upgrade, allow Black Lightning complete mastery over all electricity in any form. He'd be a powerhouse on the team. Lightning speed, electricity control and absorption, and even having strength proportionate to however much electricity he absorbs. His powers would add some much needed versatility to the team, but more than that, his personality also makes him a welcome addition. BL is highly conscious of social issues. He grew up in the Suicide Slums, and learned to be tough from an early age. Black Lightning could occasionally defy authority on the team, or go against orders, which would add a fair amount of dramatic tension. His connection to relevant social issues could add some realism to the world that the Justice League exists in, something that I think would help the book.

Step Seven: Add More Women

It kind of bugs me that Wonder Woman is the only female on the team. There should be at LEAST two. The obvious choices are Black Canary, Hawkgirl, and Zatanna. Another option is Vixen. Personally, I would love to see Gypsy. But really, any of them would work. Just add some more females.

Step Eight: The Locations

I like the Watchtower, but I would also like a base on Earth for PR reasons, which would obviously be the Hall of Justice. Speaking of PR...

Step Nine: Public Relations

Seriously, why does everyone have to love the Justice League? I think stories are much more compelling when at least a decent sized chunk of the public isn't completely trusting of the heroes. Plus, its just more realistic. Of course some people are going to be skeptical of godlike beings orbiting the Earth in a giant watchtower, putting our safety in their hands. There should be some public controversy over whether the League is trustworthy. I'm not saying that everyone should be against the League, but public opinion should not be unanimous.

Step Ten: Snapper Freakin' Carr!

Does anyone remember this guy? Snapper Carr, the average Joe who hung out with the Justice League and recorded their adventures. I would love to have him back! He could even be the Justice League's connection to the public, kind of like their PR agent. I think having Snapper Carr around would be a huge improvement to the book.

What If: Guy Gardner Became the Warrior Again?

As you probably know, Guy Gardner is a loudmouthed, hot-headed Green Lantern with a perpetually bad attitude. But it hasn't always been that way...

Guy Gardner was once removed from the Green Lantern Corps, but he wasn't out of the game long. He soon learned that he was of Vuldarian heritage, and had dormant powers derived from that race. Guy took mastery of these powers and became The Warrior. As Warrior, Guy had the ability to create a variety of weapons from his body and heal physical injuries, among other abilities. And he also had the collective knowledge of famed warriors throughout the universe.

This didn't last all that long. Soon the Vuldarian powers were nowhere to be found, and Guy was slinging a GL ring again. But what if it hadn't turned out that way?

Let me start with how this could be a good idea. First is the obvious hurdle, there are too many human Green Lanterns. Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner. That makes four Green Lanterns from Earth. What other planet has that many active members in the GL Corps? Why should Earth get so many representatives? It looks like Hal Jordan is here to stay. He should be allowed a backup, and personally I prefer John Stewart for that. Kyle Rayner doesn't really fit anywhere else, he'd be tough to move. But Guy has established his own identity before, why can't he do it again?

Guy has always had a bit of an issue with authority anyway, it almost makes more sense for him to be his own hero. He can do things his own way, get the job done how he wants. Guy seems more cut out for solo work, and I dare say he'd prefer it. Plus, Guy has proven himself a worthy character over the years... I say he deserves some room to grow in his own identity, and really establish himself. The Warrior has a fairly unique power set, an interesting if not cliche origin, and Guy himself has enough presence to make the new identity work.

So if Guy were to become the Warrior again, it could potentially be a good thing. But there are some bumps in the road that would have to be worked out. For starters, he would need a less ridiculous outfit.

Yes, Guy is supposed to look bad ass. No, he is not supposed to look like a macho biker wannabe decked out in leather, dopey boots and a crotch that is a completely different color than everything else. If Guy were to step back into the Warrior persona, he definitely needs to rethink the costume design.

Another problem is that while Guy may prefer to work alone, he may not be necessarily good at it. I won't go so far to say that Guy is dumb, but he isn't exactly the brightest guy to ever wield a Green Lantern ring. Not to mention he is brash, arrogant, impulsive and driven by his emotions. Not exactly the best decision maker. He might do well against some street level criminals by taking them on with sheer brute force, but when a situation arises where Guy has to think his way out, he might have some trouble.

So what do you think? Would you like to see Guy Gardner become the Warrior again in the future, or should he stay a Green Lantern? Or should he go in an entirely new direction? How would he work around the problems stated above?
