The Harrowing Choice

No Caption Provided

You can choose to either help Lord Grayson back up the ladder and to the surface, or put him out of his misery, as he could be infected.

As Kawara stands before the critically injured Lord Grayson, a solemn realization settles over him. The devastating toll of the mission weighs heavily on his shoulders, and the sight of his fallen comrades serves as a stark reminder of the unforgiving nature of their world.

With a heavy heart, Kawara understands the grim reality of Lord Grayson's condition. The possibility of infection looms over him, threatening not only his own life but also the safety of those around him. In the face of such uncertainty, Kawara knows that difficult decisions must be made for the greater good.

Steeling himself against the anguish of his choice, Kawara approaches Lord Grayson with a sense of resolve. With a steady hand and a heavy heart, he prepares to end the knight's suffering, sparing him from further agony and the risk of spreading infection.

With a silent prayer for forgiveness and understanding, Kawara delivers the merciful blow, granting Lord Grayson release from his pain and uncertainty. Though the decision weighs heavily on his conscience, Kawara finds solace in knowing that he acted with compassion and selflessness, sparing his fallen comrade from further suffering.

With Lord Grayson's passing, Kawara shoulders the burden of their loss and presses forward, determined to honor their sacrifice and complete their mission with unwavering resolve.

@chimeroid:

About your strategy

In analyzing the strategy presented by my opponent, I notice a significant dependence on the Battle Computer as a central pillar for victory. While it is undeniable that the Battle Computer is a powerful tool, capable of simulating millions of scenarios and strategies per second, resorting to this technology as a Deus Ex Machina solution to any challenge presents a fundamental weakness in my opponent's approach. It relies excessively on the Battle Computer's ability to provide the perfect strategy without considering the limitations inherent in any predictive system.

The central issue with this dependence is that, no matter how advanced it is, a Battle Computer cannot predict with absolute accuracy every possible outcome, especially when facing adversaries with the ability to dynamically alter the battlefield and the nature of the confrontation itself. Nate Grey, for example, is an omega-level telepath and telekinetic whose abilities go beyond mere physical strength, allowing him to manipulate the reality around him in ways that may be unpredictable for a system based on logic and known patterns.

Additionally, T.A.O. is a master strategist with an almost supernatural ability for psychological and tactical manipulation. Its ability to anticipate and influence opponents' actions is based on a deep understanding of human nature and the complexities of adversary behavior, something a Battle Computer may find difficult to model and predict, especially when T.A.O. uses unorthodox or deceptive strategies.

When you add two magic users to the equation, like Selene and Blackbriar Thorn, the predictability becomes even more complicated. Magic, by its very nature, operates outside the conventional laws of physics and logic that a Battle Computer might use to run its simulations. Selene, with her necromantic abilities and control over life energies, along with Blackbriar Thorn, who manipulates plant life and casts spells, introduce an element of chaos and potential for the unexpected that can effectively render the Battle Computer's predictions obsolete.

Therefore, by relying on the Battle Computer to provide the "perfect strategy", my adversary underestimates the complexity and unpredictability inherent in confronting beings of such strategic depth and varying power. The ability of Nate Gray and T.A.O. Working together, combined with Selene and Blackbriar Thorn's magical abilities, creates an ever-changing battle environment where tactics can be adapted and reconfigured in real time, defying any attempt at prediction or simulation by a Battle Computer, no matter how advanced it is.

Lack of Concrete Strategy:

Unlike my approach, which details how each member of my team contributes to a cohesive, adaptable strategy ready to confront and overcome a variety of threats, my opponent's argument lacks similar strategic substance. He did not outline a clear plan of action, nor did he explain how the specific skills of his members would be employed to ensure victory. Instead, your trust rests almost entirely on the Battle Computer to provide the answers you need in the heat of combat.

Battle Computer Limitations:

It is important to highlight that no system, no matter how advanced it is, is infallible. The Battle Computer, despite its sophistication, operates based on available information and programmed assumptions. Unpredictable strategies, chaotic actions, powers that alter reality in unconventional ways, and even the simple human desire to exceed expectations can confuse or circumvent the most accurate predictions. My team, with its diversity of magical, psychic, and strategic abilities, is uniquely equipped to introduce variables that the Battle Computer may not be able to effectively anticipate.

The Superiority of the Well-Defined Strategy:

I presented a detailed strategy that exploits the unique synergies between my team members, adapting to a wide range of possible scenarios. In doing so, I have not only demonstrated my team's ability to act proactively, but also to dynamically respond to adversary tactics, ensuring we are prepared to face the unexpected.

In conclusion, while my opponent seems to hide behind the Battle Computer's potential, relying on its ability to provide miraculous solutions, I have built a solid foundation based on collaboration, adaptability, and strategy. This approach not only proves my team's superiority in terms of planning and execution, but also highlights the importance of a well-defined strategy over dependence on a single tool, no matter how powerful it may be.

Nate Grey's Telepathic Suppression:

While it's true that Loki and the Nornstone-amplified Thors pose a formidable challenge, underestimating Nate Grey's capabilities based solely on raw power comparisons is a mistake. Nate, known for his omega-level telepathy and telekinesis, possesses a vast array of psychic abilities that go beyond simple telepathy. Their ability to create psionic shields, manipulate reality to some extent, and possibly utilize more subtle forms of mental influence, provides the team with tools to protect themselves and adapt to threats, even against powerful adversaries.

Instant Drain and Jane's Attack:

The premise that Nate and Thorn would be instantly drained underestimates my team's ability to prepare for and react to offensive tactics. Selene, with her necromantic and magical abilities, along with Blackbriar Thorn, who manipulates plant life and conjures illusions, can create barriers and diversions that protect the team from direct attacks. Selene's ability to counter magic and Thorn's ability to alter the battlefield give us a chance to neutralize the offensive before it hits us directly.

Thor's Battle Computer:

My opponent's reliance on Thor's Battle Computer to provide the perfect strategy assumes that all of my team's variables and actions can be accurately predicted. However, the unpredictability of T.A.O.'s combined tactics, Fantomex's ingenuity with E.V.A., and the mystical abilities of Selene and Blackbriar Thorn introduce a degree of chaos and variability that can challenge even the most advanced simulations. The ability to dynamically adapt in combat, exploiting gaps not anticipated by the Battle Computer, is a crucial advantage that should not be underestimated.

Conclusion:

While my adversary's brute strength and tactical capabilities are undoubtedly formidable, my team's synergy, adaptability, and strategic depth provide us with the means to meet and potentially overcome these challenges. For example, Nate Grey's immense psychic strength can be used not only for defense, creating psionic shields that protect the team against direct attacks, but also offensively, overloading the minds of opponents with psychic attacks that can disorient or even temporarily incapacitate powerful beings. like Loki or the Thors, even amplified by the Norn Stones.

Additionally, Selene can use her magic to counteract any advantage Norn Stones may offer, neutralizing their effects or even reversing them against the opposing team. His ability to manipulate vital energies can also be crucial in keeping the team in top fighting shape, healing injuries or revitalizing team members who are exhausted from prolonged combat.

Fantomex, with his misdirection ability, offers another layer of strategy, confusing opponents and even Thor's Battle Computer. For example, he could simulate an apparent vulnerability in our formation, luring the adversary into a carefully prepared trap, where his forces would be neutralized by a surprise counterattack. Fantomex's partnership with E.V.A. extends these capabilities, enabling cyber attacks and defenses that can intercept or block commands between the Battle Computer and its user.

Blackbriar Thorn, with its elemental manipulation, can turn the battlefield itself into a weapon, entangling opponents in vines or isolating them with earthen barriers. Their abilities not only offer tactical control over the environment, but can also serve to amplify our team's attacks, using nature as a conduit for magic or psychic energy.

The battle will undoubtedly demand the maximum of our skills and creativity. However, I am confident that the unique combination of powers and tactics at our disposal will allow us to find paths to victory, even against the most overwhelming odds. By exploiting synergy between team members and adapting our strategies to respond to the opponent's tactics, our team is not only equipped to face the challenge ahead, but to overcome it with a decisive victory.

Battle Computer vs Misdirection

Fantomex's ability to apply misdirection, proven against even opponents as formidable as Deathloks and a Celestial ship, provides a compelling precedent that his abilities would be effective against the Battle Computer that Midnighter utilizes. These examples illustrate not only the breadth of Fantomex's power of misdirection, but also its applicability in a variety of contexts, including those involving advanced technology and entities of cosmic power.

Cheating the Battle Computer:

Fantomex can utilize its misdirection ability to create false battle scenarios, diverting the opponent's attention to non-existent threats or manipulating them into believing in illusory tactical advantages. In doing so, it not only confuses opponents on the field, but can also force the Battle Computer to devote valuable resources to analyzing and responding to this false information, decreasing its effectiveness in predicting and countering our true intentions.

Strategic Illusions:

Through the clever use of Fantomex's illusions, we can mask our movements, configurations and even falsify the results of certain confrontations within battle. For example, Fantomex can create the illusion that a team member is seriously injured or that a crucial part of our plan has failed, inciting the opponent to act hastily or overconfidently. This "deceive to reveal" technique puts the Battle Computer at a disadvantage because it bases its strategies on data that we believe to be false or misleading.

Technology Interference:

In addition to his illusion abilities, Fantomex, along with E.V.A., his sentient partner, can attempt to directly interfere with the functioning of the Battle Computer. EVE. has advanced capabilities that can be used to launch direct cyber attacks or create interference that makes it difficult for a computer to collect accurate data. This electronic combat approach perfectly complements physical misdirection tactics, creating an environment where the Battle Computer struggles to maintain its analytical effectiveness.

Misdirection Against Advanced Technology:

Fantomex's success in disorienting Deathloks, beings that combine humans with advanced cybernetic technology, suggests that their ability to create illusions and confuse perceptions transcends the barrier between the organic and the electronic. This indicates that Midnighter's Battle Computer, being an implant that enhances his mental capabilities, would not be immune to the effects of misdirection. The computer, although sophisticated, still relies on interfacing with the human mind to interpret data and make predictions, creating an opening for Fantomex to insert misleading information into the process.

Differentiation between Mind and Machine:

It is crucial to highlight that Midnighter's mind, although augmented by the Battle Computer, is not in itself a machine. This means that Fantomex's misdirection techniques, which effectively confuse and disorient sentient beings, would be particularly effective. By introducing doubt and false perceptions, it can compromise the implant's ability to provide accurate analysis, as input based on illusions would lead to erroneous conclusions.

Combat Strategy:

Given this, my strategy involves Fantomex using his misdirection proactively from the beginning of the confrontation, specifically aiming to compromise the Battle Computer's effectiveness. He would create complex, shifting scenarios full of false information designed to overload Midnighter's system with misleading data. This approach would not only neutralize one of my opponent's greatest advantages, it would also open up opportunities for surprise attacks and strategic maneuvers that could not be anticipated by the Battle Computer.

Conclusion:

Thus, Fantomex's misdirection ability emerges as a crucial tool in our arsenal against Midnighter and his Battle Computer. By exploring the intersection between the human mind and technology, and demonstrating effectiveness against opponents who integrate both aspects, Fantomex proves that it can play a decisive role in dismantling my opponent's strategy. This ability to mislead, combined with a deep understanding of how mind and machine interact, uniquely positions us to overcome the challenges presented by the Battle Computer.

How the Fight Will Go

Now considering my team's original strategy, I imagine that my team will be able to affect yours right from the start. There's a there is a huge combination of forces that converge towards a single purpose, which is mental manipulation through TAO's unique ability to influence the actions of its targets in a subtle way, regardless of who they are. Nate Grey by himself is a powerhouse both Thor's would struggle to deal with, now imagine being influenced at all times by TAO.

Scan 1/2/3- Grifter (a dude with intense training against mind based assaults) gets toyed around with, forced to kill his friend, hide the evidence afterwards and then is made to forget it even happened. Keep in mind that Grifter is a war vet, a dude who's resisted the worst torture known to man and has massive amounts of willpower, but Tao just breaks the dude casually and uses him as a puppet. (Point Blank #5)

Scan 4- Afterwards Grifter has no knowledge of even meeting Tao, and he's left in the pub again.

I've already presented in the initial post he doing the same against another powerhouse character (Mr. Majestic) so there's no limit for him, specially in this scenario where he's backed by one of the mostp powerful psionic characters ever, as well as having someone like Fantomex using misdirection to compromise everything your team tries to do.

So this basically means your team won't work as planned, and if the Battle Computer is your only hope I firmly believe your team will find themselves hopeless from the beginning considering the amount of power and different ways to compromise your team.
