This was stated on panel from Surfer - I see a reflection...not one, but four of them. Each myself, and not quite...as if each was made by a different hand. Surfer confirms what was clearly obvious. Fun fact - it's Kirby Surfer, Buscema Surfer, Moebius Surfer and Allred Surfer.

I don't get how they can handle waves 5 and onwards as without plot nothing stops those villians from trashing them.

Thanos didn't one shot them, on panel Thanos one shot bfrs four beings. What even is an argument any more as he's denying what's on panel.
