@foxxfireart: It wasnt the amount of characters that ruined the film. It was the camp, the horrible performances, the poor special effects, the over commercialization, and that it was a horrible movie that ruined the franchise.

So, a movie with Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Bane, and Mr. Freeze could have been fine if they just didn't make it campy?? Oh, and made Batgirl Alfred's niece.

From the studio that ruined franchises by overloading the movies with characters, brings you the start off a franchise of films with more characters than ever in a single film.

Funny thing is that I wrote this blog before she turned on her mother and revealed her true motives.

I went into this series thinking I was going to hate her, and she's become one of my all time favorite female anime characters.

Fan service issues aside, I was impressed that they made these two strong female characters with believable motivations. This was just like any other great action series, but with a primary female cast. Far too often in anime, they'll ave two strong female leads, but they'll have some stupid rivalry over who's the love interest of some guy. I was so happy that they didn't try and shoehorn in any romance subplots.

Considering how this movie has not been in production that long, it makes me start to wonder if they shot this trailer then started working on the rest of the movie.

I like the concept, but this is coming way too soon. They should establish these characters as villains in other movies, then do Suicide Squad. With this, you're starting them out as anti-heroes being forced by the government.I don't see how you can use them as villains after this in other movies.

This also strikes me as a terrible introduction of the new Joker. Still not loving all those tattoos and the capped teeth.

I don't think she looks bad in the Wonder Woman outfit, but would it have killed Warner bros. to get her some MMA training to look like a fighter rather than a model in a costume?

I wonder if this means that they'll be portraying the Punisher as a villain in place of an anti-hero Daredevil crosses paths with, or will they clash only to begrudgingly team up to take down a bigger evil at the end of the season, the classic hero vs. hero scenario.

Since Marvel Studio ties together all their productions to some degree, playing Punisher as a flat out bad guy would snuff out the idea of a Punisher solo film. Punisher's whole thing is that he kills people. Really bad people, but it's still murder.

It's interesting that this deal with Sony works as a two way street. They can put existing Marvel characters into the Sony Spider-man films. One of the reasons Spider-man movies can be a struggle to make, as I've read, is that the casting is so limited. They could only ever use Spider-man characters in the movies. Now, they could potentially add in anyone from the Marvel Universe, providing those rights aren't owned by Fox.

I just recently heard that Spider-man will be appearing in CIVIL WAR. That's quite the surprise.

There's some potential here. It's impressive that they are going this young.

I just wish people would stop thinking that Spider-man will have some big role in the coming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR movie. The script for that movie was completed last year, and the Sony deal didn't go through until early this year. The movie has also been in production for over a month, at this point. They aren't going to rework the whole script just for one character.

Maybe a cameo at the end, but even that's stretching it.

At this point, they just need to stop calling these "leaks". No movie production leaks this much, unless it's on purpose. The more I see of this SUICIDE SQUAD movie the less I'm interested. I already feel that this movie is criminally misplaced in DC's attempt to create a cinematic universe. This should be coming after many of these characters have had the chance to be established as villains in other movies, then make them into anti-heroes. This cast is also extremely bloated. Nine main characters, and we're probably only going to end up caring about three.

This entire project just strikes me as DC making a mad scramble to put out their own version of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. That was a property that even many comic readers knew little to nothing about. Yet it didn't constantly "leak", and still did extremely well. That's why I roll my eyes every time someone says that this movie needs all this extra exposure.

I just find it absolutely ridiculous that DC is introducing their new cinematic Joker in a movie that isn't about Batman. If anything, Batman will have basically a cameo.

@monteiro15:

Ah, back when I originally wrote this, I had never even heard of HAIKYUU!! before. That just looked more similar to a soccer ball. I hope some of my data was helpful in your research project.

Points I found interesting during my initial research. Manga is often stigmatized in the US as being sexually exploitative of women. Yet, manga has a far larger readership. ONE PIECE alone outsells every book Marvel publishes combined. We in the US have no idea just how many different manga series are running at any given time in Japan. We see the cliche of 'hentai', but that's only because those are the series that are brought over to the US.

@stormmagician

Well, it's a smaller sample size, but I would think it wouldn't be too different from the bigger publishers. Oddly enough, you'd think the ratios would be more favorable with the larger readership.
