Here's what King had to say about the Swamp Thing/Catwoman switcheroo

That's on me. After solicits went out I decided I wanted this to be a 2 part catwoman story. Swamp Thing story was written but pushed back.

source

However something else that I've noticed that I want to share. Here's the solicit for Batman #20 by David Finch

“I am Bane” finale! In this epic climax, there is no going back. No more tricks, no more allies. Just Batman. And Bane. When the final blood spills…nothing will ever be the same for the Dark Knight.

Sounds epic right? except the next 2 issues will be about this:

“The Button”: Two greatest detectives in the DC Universe unite to unravel the mystery behind a certain blood stained smiley face button stuck in the Batcave wall. However, what begins as a simple investigation soon turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party — and it’s not who anyone suspects! This is a mystery woven throughout time, and the countdown starts here!

LMAO. However it doesn't end there, it seems that the Bane story will continue after "the button", here's what King had to say on Twitter.

Finch comes back for two issues, which'll blow minds. Then we launch an epic new story arc with Janin. It appears that "the button" is merely a rude momentum killer and those issues will apparently be shoehorned. I'm betting the 2 Finch issues will continue the story immediately after #20 and provide an epilogue to "I am Bane".

Oh wow really?

@entropy_aegis: I called it! I'm not happy about it, but that's just how this run has been. The story of Batman #14 was of Batman and Catwoman fighting many villains on the exact same roof top, standing in the exact same position, with multiple panels of the Bat-signal, two pages of Batman and Catwoman kissing, pages of Batman and Catwoman kissing and having sex. The only point of that issue was to throw that out there because it was a garbage issue that had no respect for any reader's wallet like the rest of these filler issues. It's really arrogant of King, and I listened to him talk himself up with this Batman run which already made me think he was an arrogant jerk.

I keep saying I'm not going to buy it, but then I do, but I'm done. I'm not interested in this or the Rebirth event. The only thing good that came out from this run is that it made me a Superman fan. Batman's a lame man-child, and I hope Damian stays far away from him.

Haha, funnily enough I think Green Arrow and Black Canary are a far more sexy couple in Percy's Green Arrow than Bat/Cat. How can King fail so hard at the basics? Jesus he cant even get fan service right.

@enzo991: I think the decision to not use Robin is down to King trying to suck up to Snyder and the rest of the family do have books of their own. But yeah this Batman is stupid when it comes to Catwoman, I even said so in the preview. King doesn't know how to make this dynamic work, so he has to regress one or the other. I think he'll be off the book by 2018, this is firmly a Tony Daniel situation.

@entropy_aegis: Yeah, I mean he probably won't take too kindly to them doing crap like this to a character he created

Oh yeah I forgot about him being incredibly possessive of Elektra and Carrie.

DC and Dynamite are teaming with a six issue mini series for this crossover.

BATMAN/SHADOW #1 (1 of 6)

Written by STEVE ORLANDO & SCOTT SNYDER

Art and cover by RILEY ROSSMO

Two of history’s greatest vigilantes are reunited at last! Murder has come to Gotham City, and Lamont Cranston appears to be the culprit…but he’s been dead for over fifty years! Batman will go to the ends of the Earth to unravel the mystery of Cranston’s life, but the mysterious Shadow will do everything in his power to stop him from learning too much…

The superstar team of writers Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo brings you a dark and twisty modern noir like nothing you’ve seen before, with a brand-new villain unlike any either hero has faced! This is the unmissable crime series of 2017, so get on board now! Co-published with Dynamite.

12+ Available on April 26 2017 32 pg $3.99

So I guess this is what Orlando teased in his Batman annual story also drawn by Rossmo, I found it weird he ended his story for a 2017 tease seeing as he didn't have a Batman book of his own and it did have a bizarre looking villain. I guess this is it and the crossover then will likely be in canon.

Looking forward to this more than any Bat book now and I pray Snyder doesn't shill Duke here, let these legends meet and solve cases in peace.

@enzo991: I'm guessing you are none too pleased about Holly almost killing Bruce lol? I have to admit I feel nothing tbh. King is so horribly all over the place, his Batman fights whole armies and hordes of supervillains but couldn't handle Holly. His Bane wasn't strong enough to break Bruces back but his Catwoman is strong enough to break Banes back. There are no rules, evetything just happens and for that reason Kings fights and action bores me. There's neither tension or excitement.

@brucerogers: He'd tell King to grow a pair. Kings is following the Scott Snyder style of Batman writing. Cheap shock value twists that are soon followed by damage control, a desire to impose personal stylistic ticks at the expense of good story and characterization. The Bat line need a complete overhaul or atleast a new leader.

Today the Batbooks had not one but TWO jump the shark moments. Lets start with Harley Quinn:

So Red Tool takes it upon himself to deal with the Joker out of a desire to protect Harley. He confronts Joker, they spar verbally. When the Joker pushes his buttons, Red Tool starts pounding on him.

After that

She picks the Joker up, takes him home, and then kindly reminds him that she had previously warned if he ever showed her his face again it would be the last time.

So Harley and Big T tie him to a chair and put him out in traffic to gleefully watch while he’s hit by cars. Presumably it’s okay for Tony to help her since she asked him.

The comic ends with Harley looking at a battered, unconscious Joker and saying grimly, “He deserved it,” then telling Tony to help her take him so they can finish the job.

source Batman News (these are portions of the review of the latest issue of Harley Quinn). Well done Conner, I hope she feels pleased, Harley is finally her own woman again(for the billionth time). This character has become a blight upon both Joker and Ivy.

The other moment came from the lord and savior of comic books who is known as Tom King. For those who dont know Batman #15 was originally solicited as a Swamp Thing team up story, hell its still solicited as that but changed to extend the Catwoman story so why the sudden change? especially because King confirmed that the story is fully scripted and could be published at a later date. I'll tell you why King reversed the decision he made back in Batman #9, dude buckled under the pressure and changed his plans . Today the murder mystery that had plagued the book for the last few months was solved and the killer was revealed to be

Holly Robinson

and just like that "I am Suicide" just became even worse.

LOL what a sissy, maybe these idiots should think about what they're going to do thoroughly before making such huge decisions and then spending the following months trying to undo it. I thought Snyder had commitment issues but King just keeps surprising me every 2 weeks with his suckiness.

So looking at those numbers

Yikes for the Young Animal line up, what a bust. Mother Panic should start panicking and it's already suffering from delays, DC has also cancelled Vigilante half way through so I can see these books getting their plugs pulled soon enough.

All Star Batman is dropping fast, apparently having Batman, Snyder and hot shot artists isn't good enough. Kill those worthless backups and lower the price, stop trying to push Duke at the expense of Batman, it's not working and it's about time someone told Snyder (and King) that Duke is a waste of space.

BOP has evidently lost its magic, I think it's time to give that franchise a rest for a while.

On to other books

Deathstroke needs to up the fan service and become more easier to follow because a good book doesn't deserve to die prematurely just because it was too difficult to follow for some fans.

New Super-man and Superwoman are clearly gonna go under eventually though not unexpected.

Batman doesn't deserve to sell more than Superman, hurts me to say it but it's what it is.

Yeah, I know. Thanks a lot. You're the reason I had my heart so set on Bane being good! lol I heard him talk about his Batman in an interview and I was taken aback. His next arc is going have Bane be like totally awesome, and Finch is going to draw him like RARR, and Catwoman is going to make boys to turn men, and it's all going to be like boom, and stuff is going like Kablam! I trust you implicitly because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't believe any claims that he was some second coming writer like he's been touted as. I'm going with your advice. I could use the money now that I'm buying Superman.

I'm with you on Priest. I think he'd give us something really special. I've never read a stinker by the guy. He even wrote my favorite crossover with Spider-man vs Wolverine in the 80s.

I think it's gonna take 2 years for the Bat titles to settle down, it's same thing as the New-52 really. The Bat titles didn't need the New 52 nor do they do they need a Rebirth. All these revamps just kill momentum and conceptually it's kinda funny how these exact same events hold different meaning for the different lines. For the Superman line the New 52 represented change while for the Bat line it was a return to the classic. Rebirth for Superman represents simultaneously a change and a return to familiarity while for Batman it represents return to the classic.

As for Bane, if King really does something great with him I'll eat my words but I'm very sure he wont. If King had something truly spectacular planned he'd be hyping the crap out of it. I think it'll just be a better version of Finch's first TDK arc and ironically I am Bane will also be drawn by Finch and it will come out in the first February of the year after the revamp. Not feeling good at all.

@infantfinite128: Same feelings about Watchmen, I just dont get it. They're not a huge property like Star Wars and their actual superhero counterparts already exist in the DC universe. DC is just using them a metaphorical excuse for their own short comings. I'm not even a purist but seriously why should I give a crap about Manhattan vs everyone?

Heh,if Snyder aint your guy its cool, different strokes and everything.

King is just wasting your time man, Tynion just came out and revealed that Tec 950 will have a story that will dominate the Bat line later in the year, Snyder is writing a big Batman focused event, Orlando also teased something for 2017 in the annual. In short everyone but King seem to have an actual plan .Even Kings Twitter account has dialed down on Batman related stuff, he's no longer giving interviews or sharing teases, the disconnect between the reader and the writer is high and if once in a blue moon he does talk about Batman the Catwoman fans are there to tell him to get his act together LOL.I hope Priest takes over very soon, King is a disaster and this is coming from someone who actively rooted for him to take over.

@lvenger: LOL, I think his characterization in Trinity is great too. It all boils down to the lack of an arc, I'm not even sure what Bruce's story is post Rebirth. Snyder's Batman had the whole relationship with Gotham while the Tomasi/ Gleason explored the father and son relationship angle. Currently however Batman has no story in his own goddamn book. Tec should have been the replacement for Batman & Robin except with more characters but Tynion is not interested in exploring Batmans relationships with the characters. He'll throw in an occassional fan service hug but narratively that book so far belongs to Kate. Batman is completely stagnant right now.
