Today we'll take a quick look at some alternate versions of Superman and why I like them. These versions are interesting because of their differences in origin, operation , mentality, look etc. I find them interesting for one reason or another. One of the newest and most interesting takes on Superman. This one was raised by a Hispanic migrant family. So his views on America are considerably different from the Prime Earth Superman. Aggressive and arrogant he still strives to do the right thing whether they want him too or not.
AkA President Superman. This version of Superman became President of the United States and tamed braniac making him a useful adviser. With an interesting take on the Superman suit he has proven to be a little more aggressive than the regular but still unwilling to take life.
Superman lands in 14th century war torn Japan and becomes a rebel to against the reign of a tyrant. Going by Tekkohito (Hoshi) he opposes the reign of that worlds Braniac alongside some familiar faces misplaced in time as well.
Don't ask why Earth 2 Superman has always been my favorite version of Superman between the earth 1 and earth 2 versions. So I was very happy to see him brought back in Earth-2. He seems to always start off stronger than normal Superman and had in mp better character development. Was sad to see him get killed off. But I do like the Superman/Batman book that compared why Earth one beat Darkseid and Earth 2 didn't.
With all the changes on Earth 2 (some liked some disliked) it was only time before we saw Superman get a successor. And got one he did with Val-Zod. Zod is Superman learning the ropes after years of isolation. But even with that he is determined to live up to the legacy he has inherited.
Superman raised on Apokolips by Darkseid. Yes he did eventually turn on Darkseid. But this wasn't your normal Superman. And that armor which enhanced all of his abilities and the mother box. One of the best to date.
What you've all been waiting for. An evil version of Superman. Completely crazy with the last version getting powered by Kryptonite and weaker in sunlight. He has a moral code that works fine on his world which is currently considered the birth place of evil.
As popular as this one is why is he so low? As interesting as he is I feel that he could have been fleshed out more. Also most people know this version, so I wanted to put a few others up front. Being a (spoiler alert for few who may not of read it)
descendant of Lex Luthor was a nice twist
Was a little conflicted here on this one or the Justice Lord. But this one first snapped after being tricked into killing his wife and child, then manipulated by one of his best friends. And while showing some remorse he stays honest to his ways. Justice Lord Superman will lie to keep the peace and control, Injustice will just mow you down.
Harvey Dent Tangent Superman. He's last because I'm not as familiar with him yet as the others. But that doesn't make him any less powerful. Able to easily hold his own against Prime Superman and others at the same time. While not evil he's more along the lines of Red Son Superman. Doing whats best while skirting some very edgy dark areas.
