My Top 10 Favorite Marvel Comics Villains

A list of my favorite bad guys from the House of Ideas. They'd also function as my own interpretation of the Masters of Evil. I feel it covers a few good bases--one Fantastic Four villain, a couple of Spider-Man villains, an X-Men villain, a couple of Captain America villains, and a couple of Iron Man villains, plus a foe that straddles both the Hulk and Thor sides of the Marvel Universe.

List items

  • He's got the most working-class origin there is--doesn't get any better than a safecracker who builds better tools for the job. And me, I like most things simple and easy to understand.

  • She's got the best motivation and is a better anti-She-Hulk than Abominatrix is. She's just one of those characters who you feel sorry for because they became the very thing they hated.

  • He's on this list mostly because I love the armor design, and he was the first Crimson Dynamo I ever saw in a cartoon.

  • She's the most recently-created character on the list, but despite that, I'm glad she revives the Beetle-as-a-villain concept since Abe Jenkins became a good guy.

  • Another one of those misunderstood types, I added him because of that last-minute sacrifice he did to save Senator Robert Kelley.

  • I actually prefer the take from the second season of the 1994 Fantastic Four cartoon--great voice, easily embodies the best character qualities of the good Doctor, and really sounded like he meant business.

  • To me, speaking as an acolyte of the 1990's Spider-Man cartoon, Eddie Brock will always be Venom--and I really don't like what they've been doing with him these days.

  • I'll always like her as a villain, she's just got too much of the personality to match.

  • Come on, how many French villains with 'Leaper' in their name are out there? Also, I always picture him speaking with the voice of the French guard from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

  • I really loved the take on the big guy in the 1994 Iron Man cartoon series, and Neil Ross had a great voice for him.
