Arms of Another
My very first list was called "Arms of Another," originally posted Oct 13, 2010. It started off as a list of covers that looked similar to Crisis on Infinite Earths #7/ X-Men #136, and it blew up to well over 100 items. That has made it necessary to break that list down, so Arms of Another is now a series. I'm looking for any cover where "A" is holding "B" in their arms.
Most accept them as being based on Michelangelo's Pieta, but with that statue, Mary is sitting, and Jesus is laid out in her arms. On most covers, "B" will be laid out in the Jesus pose, but "A" could be doing a variety of things- standing, walking, running, flying, or kneeling (that's all I've found so far). So now there is a category for each in this series, along with "Homages" lists for Pieta, COIE #7, and X-Men #136. So thanks for checking these out, and enjoy.
So how do the categories break down?
Like so:
- .Arms of Another: "A" has "B" in their arms, but it doesn't quite fit the other lists.
- .Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 (Homages): Clear homages to the cover of COIE #7.
- .X-Men #136 (Homages): Clear homages to the cover of XM #136.
- .Pieta (Homages): Clear homages to Michelangelo's sculpture, Pieta.
- .Arms of Another: Standing: "A" is standing, "B" is alert.
- .Arms of Another: Standing Pieta: "A" is standing, "B" is in the Jesus pose.
- .Arms of Another: Walking: "A" is walking, "B" is alert.
- .Arms of Another: Walking Pieta: "A" is walking, "B" is in the Jesus pose.
- .Arms of Another: Running: "A" is running, "B" is alert.
- .Arms of Another: Running Pieta: "A" is running, "B" is in the Jesus pose.
- .Arms of Another: Flying: "A" is flying, "B" is alert.
- .Arms of Another: Flying Pieta: "A" is flying, "B" is in the Jesus pose.
- .Arms of Another: Kneeling: "A" is kneeling, "B" is alert.
- .Arms of Another: Kneeling Pieta: "A" is kneeling, "B" is in the Jesus pose.
