My DC pull list

List items

  • Its Batman. Really, does anything else need to be said?

  • Detective was a staple of my childhood excursions to the magazine rack at the bookstore and the comic shop. Still as good today as it was then.

  • The powerhouse team lineup of the DCU. When I last read and collected comics it was Grant Morrison's JLA. I miss Martian Manhunter, but Cyborg makes sense to me and should be a good read as ever when you assemble all of your flagstone icons under one roof.

  • I'm surprised by how much I am enjoying this title. Other than the doses of him I got with the JLA, I have never paid much attention to him. It's one of my favs in the new 52. It was slow to start with no appearances by what I would consider Flash's classic villians, but several issues in you feel like its just starting to hit it's stride and good things are coming soon.

  • This was the first title I read in the new dc 52. It single handedly renewed my interest in comics after 10 years of not really reading or collecting and made me want to see more. I love that Barbara Gordon is back as Batgirl. Admittedly I have a "thing" for redheads... One of my most influential reads as a kid was "The Killing Joke" the story in which the Joker shot and paralyzed Babs. So seeing the universe and outcome of that night go a different way is interesting. I had no problem with other Batgirls, but Barbara by far was my Fav.

  • I never thought I'd say this... Aquaman is cool.

As a kid I thought Aquaman was the lamest superhero of them all. There are hundreds and hundreds of jokes about the guy. But this is one my favorite new titles in the new 52.

I'll admit "The Trench" did'nt live up to it's potential, but after that the stories picked up with the Others and his first encounter in the new 52 with Black Manta.

The last time I read anything with Aquaman was in JLA, and he was written as an arrogant prick. This incarnation has a little more vulnerability, and you gotta love that everyone around him is cracking jokes about the whole water thing and crimes happening inland or not involving fish.

  • I was a fan of the Young Justice title put out in the last decade. So far this one has been good as well.

  • I've read #1. I have been scrambling to fill all my back issues on the new 52 titles I want to read, and just have'nt had the time to get caught up. I subbed because its Superman, but honestly I've never really liked or identified with the character. His rogues gallery just isn't as good as Batman's and he's an "illegal alien" in the truest sense. *ahem*... Levity aside, I hope to get caught up soon (I started a year in). But I've been enjoying just about everything else, so if that's any indication... Then maybe I'll finally like this guy.

  • The last time I had read anything with Supergirl in it, it was in Superman/Batman and she could'nt figure out if she was good or bad. This time around she still has a mysterious origin, and she doesn't have Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman mentoring her, so far. Not a bad read, but admittedly I've never been a huge fan of the "Super" family.

  • Of all the new 52's, Hal Jordan's "new" start does'nt feel from scratch. There's back story there, and I don't know if its going to be made more clear for those just getting on board. Again this was a character I had little to do with as a kid. I know the origin, I know the players, but was just never into it. I did read the "Darkest Night" arc and thats one of the reasons I look at this title. I've enjoyed it so far, and as the "Rise of the Third Army" ramps up, should be interesting to see how things play out with the Guardians.
