The reason this has the best shot to not suck is because it could actually tell stories in the universe without appearing redundant. Too bad we still know what happens to the team, but at least it would be fun to see them interact.
@BlackArmor: Agreed. He was a great character, but to bring him back would cheapen him and his role in the Avengers. If you're feeling sad, just go watch the other movies he's in, but I say let Coulson rest in peace.
Remember when comic book companies tried really hard to convince the public that their superheroes weren't gay? Funny how things change. Honestly, I really don't care much about Earth-2 at all. I kind of share the sentiments of others in that I wish they weren't de-aged. One of the cool things about the DC universe was how it had a first-wave of superheroes followed by a second-wave. It gave the universe a deeper history. And I honestly don't see why this is getting so much press. I can't wait for the day when character can be gay, bi, or straight and it not be such a big deal.
If you look at the possible origins of the Phantom Stranger, one of them is a man who hated Jesus and took money to flog him. So, Stranger's kind of been tied to Jesus, and I think making him Judas instead is a stronger back story and is a better reason why he was punished so severely.
I loved how the six members missing were the members from the roster in the Justice League series. It was a nice easter egg. Loved this series, and Invasion looks awesome. Can't wait for next week!
Did anyone else get chills in "the Call" when Batman told Alfred, "Call the family." This is such a fantastic arc; it's a good time to be a Batman fan.
I think the reason Aquaman and GL are better is because Johns does his best work with a smaller cast. In Aquaman, the two main characters are Aquaman and Mera, with a crazy supportive cast. In JL, you have 7 main characters, that's a lot of characterization to nail down.
@MonkeyToe: First, I completely agree with your Detective critique. I was going to drop it this week, and then it was good again. Argh! Tony Daniel!!
Second, being a Greek mythology buff I am in love with Wonder Woman right now. While I do agree that they need to develop her character more, I see it being fleshed out a bit at a time during the arc.
@Billy Batson: I've never understood why people expect a 9 or 10 on every story of arcs. Stories of lulls and high points, that's what makes them stories. As long as they're entertaining, which most of what I'm reading is, then I say enjoy it. Don't expect every story to be "great," just fun.
