Okay people. I am tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Honestly, I'm fine clarifying things but when I have to repeat 'we're not wiping the slate clean' over and over again just because people are too lazy to actually skim the other posts. So this is the last time I'm going to repeat the basics. If I'm asked again then I'm sending a link to this exact page.
Why a Reboot?
If this was just one change then a reboot would be unnecessary but we're considering several changes.
- Lowering the tier.
- Setting up major events so more people can join and give off their own side story.
- Giving people a good opportunity to change their character.
- Wiping out truly unneeded pieces of history from the Vine.
- Setting up new standards
Will this be mandatory?
Yes, because I have the power to tell people what to do, even if it is against their will. This is only a stepping stone though. After I force everyone to redo their characters I'm going to make every give a reference to me in every post they create since my people controlling powers stem from my ego.
Honestly, what could I do if you really didn't want this? No, this thing is not mandatory. Nothing will be forced, I don't actually have the power to make you do any this. You just have to what you want.
Why set up new Standards?
Because the Vine can work like a revolving door. Any person can walk in, create a character who wipes out more of the population, and simply leave. We have had people do this and it will continue unless we put a stop to it. It's okay if your character wants to run for mayor in New York City because that isn't such a big deal but when you are some nameless smoe who just came announcing that your character is the president of the U.S. then it becomes a big deal. The Vine has no regulations stopping people from becoming whatever they want their characters to be and that really messes up the history.
I want to keep my Assassin
KEEP THEM! When did I ever say that we should disband all killers? I want to have less people be homicidal maniacs because 99.999999999^89 percent of the villains here are like that. Babies take nine months to make and even more years to grow, we can't just have everyone killing 15 people each RPG and expect it all to be fine. If you want your character to be an assassin, mercenary, killer, psychopath, or whatever then keep them. We just want to either encourage (key word is encourage, it is not a synonym for force) people to change their characters so they don't kill everything in sight or at least have a good majority like that so if a mass killer does come along then things don't have to be blow out of proportion.
Will everything be deleted?
No, just anything that you -and those who collaborated with you on the events- want to change or omit.
Is This Change Necessary?
If you can name all the countries have been invaded or captured and who was responsible; every occasion a major city suffered an attack from meta-humans as well as who was behind the attack; and tell me which character ran for some major political position and somehow got it then I'll drop the whole reboot issue and never talk about it again. I'll even let you use this whole RPG board as a reference. If you didn't even try because you knew that it would have been a very long and tedious task then zip it. I just curbstomped you.
Why are you persistent on this idea?
Look at the Vine. It has just become one huge 'my horse is bigger' competition, people are hesitant to RPG, and no one knows what is happening. It is a MESS! Several veterans are agreeing with me, rookies, and the in-betweens. This is a problem we need to fix if we are ever to get things back on track.
