My dream Avengers
Here I'll probably throw continuity out the window and compile my idea of a perfect team. Heck, I'll go all Inception and put people in who may be dead.

The leader - replacing Steve Rogers.
Every team needs a symbol and a steadfast leader. In my opinion, Bucky (as Captain America) has the grit needed to make the tough decisions. Sure, he lacks the respect and charisma that Steve has, but the battlefield isn't a nice place, and Bucky isn't nice either.

The genius.
Iron Man and Avengers are synonymous. He brings a certain attitude and skillset to the table that no one else really has. Plus, he is more than willing to stand up against his fellow team mates if he doesn't like their methods. This, oddly, is that missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle. The team needs a genius, and Tony is it.

The cosmic force - replacing Thor.
When she's not psychotic as Dark Phoenix, Jean has the potential to use the Phoenix Force for virtue and greatness. Often times the Avengers come up against threats that regular tactics don't necessarily work against. When you have someone like Jean, who possesses near limitless power, she could easily take Thor's position. Of course, for the sake of exciting writing, I'd nerf her a bit. Cut down her powers a bit so that they are not limitless.

The specialist.
Clint is a must have for the Avengers. Not just for his attitude and his daring style, but also for the, as Loki put it, 'heart' that he has. Despite his, somewhat irritating arrogance, he truly would sacrifice himself for the team (maybe not Tony) without hesitation. Plus, the Avengers needs street-levellers and none are as stylish as Clint.

The power.
I want him to go back to his roots of not being able to really control the Hulk. That way, it adds so much more excitement to the team and brings a level of near unrestricted physical power. It is a fear thing - the Avengers know he's the wildcard, and that he can be the most powerful weapon and the most dangerous. A cannon that could, at any moment, swivel around and shoot them in the face.

The assassin - replacing Spider-Woman.
She's here partly because I'm a massive shipper of her and Bucky, but more so because the team needs a stealthy weapon, and who better than the most famous spy in all of Marvel comics? The team of Bucky and Nat could infiltrate the Kremlin blindfolded, not to mention she is, arguably, the most level-headed person on this team.

The unbreakable will - replacing Spiderman .
When all goes to hell, when the world is on fire, you need someone who never gives up. Someone who will always find the light in the darkness. Who can bring the team from the brink of despair and nothingness and rally their spirits. No one can do this better than Dany. Plus, he's got the healing abilities to protect his team.
