FINALLY, Snyder understands that Batman is a detective (the best in the world), not a random guy being victimized by the Court, the Joker ... Of course we know from the beginning who the villain we're dealing with is, of course this story won't last long, but hell, this issue was great. If Zero Year looks like this #19, it's gonna be damn cool to read.

So please Scott, now that you've understood that we've seen Batman being victimized way too much and that we don't give a damn about Harper Row, make of Zero Year a great story with crimes, investigations, interesting bad guys(no need to create them, Batman has so many cool villains), but please, let Batman do his detective job.

John Layman is doing a fantastic job here. He's using the Gotham universe and characters with perfection, and that reminds me of what Dan Slott is doing with Spider-Man. When Snyder tends to be too psychological, Layman develops a good balance between psychology and plot. And hell, here Batman is a DETECTIVE, not a victim. 5 stars, love this book since Tony Daniel left it.

James Tynion IV is overrated. We've already seen that when Snyder lets him do almost all the job, like on Talon (Snyder is only supervising the script), the story gets worse and worse every month. The first two issues of Talon were great, the rest is just lame. Or just compare the first part of Batman #19 (with Snyder only), which is great, and the second part (with "Snyder and Tynion IV", that is to say Tynion IV and Snyder supervising his work), which is boring. It's the same thing with Jeff Lemire/Ray Fawkes : one talented and bankable writer, and one drag.

couldnt be more wrong

I just LOVE your arguments.

Fantastic issue, i feel like Aquaman is the only DC series that is as good as when the New 52 started! Btw i had heard that Geof Johns was supposed to leave the series after the #16, as he wrote this 18 i guess it was just a rumor?

Thanks. I thought it was a mini, if it's an ongoing i guess i'll wait for the reviews and then decide to buy or not to buy the TPB. Last year i would have bought this book on day one, now that i've been disappointed a lot by Snyder recently, i can't afford myself to behave like the fanboy i used to be. But i'll surely keep an eye on it.

Does anyone know how long this series is supposed to last? I just saw that the #1 will cost $5, which is, well, very expensive, even if we got a back-up story and a four-pages poster. So, any idea? Cheers

Hi guys !

Is that only me, or can't we just rate comics anymore (without having to write a review about it) ?

I used to give a quick rating to my comics right after reading them, and it annoys me a lot because i don't knows which other websites have a similar ranking system for readers.

Cheers
