I still find it hard to believe that the Avengers don't know Coulson's alive at this point... You'd think he'd want to make an alliance with the Avengers and have them for some of the more serious threats.

@theblueangel93: Yeah I am hoping eventually Coulson is revealed to be alive to the Avengers and he re-appears so to speak in the Marvel cinematic universe.

That aside, I think Coulson may not be getting "darker" so much as he is getting more focused and not wanting to put up with too much bull crap anymore due to recent events. He's also showing he's still the boss but doing so without being a jerk; he's still got his wits about him and that's what makes the character great.

@gmanfromheck: I know, he's got a great attitude about all of it. Everything's "top secret" at S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ, so I am surprised you got any answers out of Agent Coulson. :)
