When the day eventually comes, Aunt May wants to be put out of her misery and go without pain. Peter can't bear to hear another word.
A flashback has five-year-old May witnessing her father perfom euthanasia on one of her paternal uncles, striving to let the ailing man die with dignity. May narrates the tale to Peter and implies she expects him to do the same when her time comes. Peter does not want to even think about it.
