You had better make the most out of your Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen experience next Wednesday, June 24th, because it could be your last. According to Yahoo news, director Michael Bay has decided he will not be returning to make another Transformers film. Apparently, the critics have been too hard on bay and he just can't seem to take the heat!
"It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they've even seen the movie...After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world. I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

I have to admit, I am sorry to see the director go. The first Transformers film had some of the coolest cinematics I have ever seen in a film. However; in Hollywood money talks so who knows, he could very well change his mind. What do you guys think? Would you have liked to have seen a trilogy created from the Transformers franchise? Looks like Megan Fox is going to have to find a new schtick.

Wait, couldn't there be more movies without Michael Bay's involvement? Or does he hold some rights to the property....?

@Sparda: I think there could be more. He just said he didn't want to be involved in a third film.

Sounds like he's just chicking out, if he cared about the movies he wouldn't let anyone talk him out of it. But on the other hand this could open new doors for future Transformers movies

i understand him saying that the critics are to hard some times but seriously? they can say that they would rather have a pineapple shoved up their a$$' by a man with tits on his head than see another one of his transformers films but as long as it is banking lots of money who cares what the critics say. I usually like what the critics say is bad or mediocer anyways.

i thought that the only people b!tc#ing were all the whiney little fanboys who want there Transformer movie to be the deepest most profound movie ever made

Seriously though I loved the first movie, how could you ask for anything more from a movie where the base material is giant robots fighting each other and I'm sure that I'm going to love the second movie

Sucks that Bay let the critics get to him

I'm not a big Bay-phile or Transformers-phile but it seemed like a good fit. I kinda go by what I like and what I like to see in the theatre more than what a movie review or a critic says. Althought there is is this guy Joe who apparently loves crappy movies...and he seems to have this whole word of mouth thing down to a system...

    @danhimself:
Bay kinda screwed up the franchise--as a fanboy, I have the right to complain.  I mean first off--he destroyed the All-spark, letting his crap about independence from what created him destroy years of good work.  Furthermore, he spent much of the movie with dumb jokes--i mean seriously, when the mom asks Sam if he was masturbating i was pretty annoyed.  He should give better effort.  He also was always condescending and disregarded the fans--like laughing away the idea of Dinobots or saying he could never have Bumblebee be a VW beetle.  Fanboys are the people who got there to be the movie in the first place.  I suggest there be a third film, maybe a reboot, directed by Louis Letterier (he directed Incredible Hulk and is remaking Clash of the Titans).
That said, I'm sorry Bay had an unpleasant excperience working with Transformers.  Everyone should enjoy working with something that cool.  Maybe if he was happier, or people were nicer, he might have done a better job.  The visual effects were pretty darn cool.

Nobody expects Transformers to be deep. Star Trek wasn't deep but gathered great reviews because it was an action movie done right, I don't feel the first Transformers was.
Honestly, I think Michael Bay has the ability to be a great director, but then he goes ADD and decides to put in a bunch of explosions. The weak story and uninteresting/badly acted human characters didn't help either.
That's just my opinion anyways. Maybe the second one will be better.

i'm not saying you don't have the right to complain...everybody is entitled to their opinion...but you can't expect the movies to be direct adaptations of the cartoon....it just wouldn't work....nobody wants to see a sissy VW Beetle transformer....Fanboys had nothing to do with the movie being made....you should know by now that film studios don't listen to fans that'll never happen....they made the movie because they knew there was money to be made from it...that's it

The Incredible Hulk was a terrible movie that needed a reboot why would you want the director of a terrible movie to direct a franchise you obviously love

Michael Bay isn't going to quiet the Transformer Movie Franchise he just doesn't want to do Transformer-3 right away because the last 2-Movies that he has directed have been the Transformers Movies so he just wants to take a break from big giant robots who can honestly blame him. 4-Years of working on 2-Transformers movies is alot of work he just wants to do one or two different movies in between directing wise then he will go back to Transformer-3. He has said this in many recent interviews who ever reported the story about him quieting the franchise just change his answer around thats all.

I feel sad about Micheal Bay, maybe he should take a break from making Transformers movies and allow someone else to make them. I liked the first Transformers movie and I know I'm going  to love the second one,but I hope this won't make him quit his job, beacuse he is a really good director. I hate those Critics how could they do that to him without watching the movie first.

Say what you will about Bay but I think he makes a good action flick. Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon, and Transformers were all fun movies.  No they weren't super plot heavy, but they gave you have a couple hours of fun. People who complained about Transformers not being plot heavy are using a dumb argument, seeing as the cartoon was basically made to promote a line of toys. Transformers 1 was fun to watch and I have had good times watching it with friends. I'm sure it'll be the same with #2.  Bay is on the spot with his remarks about "It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers." The dude is making an entertaining movies not art house flicks.

Also if #2 does as well as the first, there will be a sequel with or without Bay. Its Hollywood and 99% of the time its about money there.

f#ck critics. they get paid for pounding negativity on directors and everything else. i'd like to see those old @sses make/star a movie since they think its easy and all. i think bay should forget the critics and listen to the fans who really matter. they make the money for films, not the other way.

I dont know what further elements of drama you think a movie about "aliens" transforming into cars can possibly achieve, but if I had to sit through a tightassed 2 hour movie that took itself so seriously as to limit its amount of jokes to make room for things like space jargon, technobabble, and autobot bromance (which is what It sounds like you have in mind, no offense now) then I would really start to reconsider passing up that used copy of Transmorphers at FYE.

Oh god I hope he really is done. Maybe then there's a chance of being able to tell them apart, not having to listen to the beef scream "no" for 2 hours, and not having him ruin fan-loved characters (looking at you bumblebee)

" @danhimself: Bay kinda screwed up the franchise--as a fanboy, I have the right to complain. The visual effects were pretty darn cool.PS  Transformers ARE NOT robots--they are aliens. "
I dont know what further elements of drama you think a movie about "aliens" transforming into cars can possibly achieve, but if I had to sit through a tightassed 2 hour movie that took itself so seriously as to limit its amount of jokes to make room for things like space jargon, technobabble, and autobot bromance (which is what It sounds like you have in mind, no offense now) then I would really start to reconsider passing up that used copy of Transmorphers at FYE."

Why did Bay laugh away the idea of the Dinobots?  Because he doesn't take the thing seriously.  I'm not saying this needs to be Oscar worthy materials, but any jokes about, say, aliens peeing on people, is a sure sign that the movie is flawed.

I think you might mean Jazz.  He's the one Megatron ripped in half.

That's not Jazz, it's Sideswipe.  He has retractable blades in his arms and skates around on tyres.

The Audi R8 who is ripped in half is Sideways.

If he's talking about the first movie, its Jazz.  Maybe he meant the sequel, then it could be Sidesweep.  Jazz does a lot of spinning around.
Anyway, Jazz was ripped in half.  He went up to Megatron and said "You wanna peice of me?"  "No," replied Megatron, "I want two pieces."
    RIIIP!
Also, anyone who says i was talking about Ang Lee's Hulk is wrong.  I was talking about the Incredible Hulk, with Edward Norton as Bruce.  And that is a movie which was loyal to its fans.
Also, i never watched the cartoon.  When i said Bay was rude to the fanboys, i meant those of the Marvel Comics Transformers.

I agree! Roger Ebert doesn't know what the "F" his talking about! Can't he just sit there and enjoy a movie, instead of looking at all the flaws of a movie and looking for a good reason to say the movie sucks, when will he just kick over and die?!
