Curtain CallTo see this review with images, Click Here.I was not particularly impressed with the last issue of Nightwing which puts me in the vast minority. I would not say it was a bad issue, but it simply failed to wow me. Joker killed a guy who looked like him and then left him hanging in a creepy place, but beyond that, all he did was give Raya a dose of laughing gas and turn her loose on Nightwing. I found the whole setup rather boring because Joker uses innocents against heroes all the tim...

    Nightwing #16 Review 1

***SPOILER FREE REVIEW***Nightwing was a series I had enjoyed greatly for the first 9 issues, until the disappointing arcs with Paragon and Lady Shiva came along. I had dropped this series for a while, and hadn't really missed it, but I decided to pick up Nightwing #15 and #16 for the Death of the Family Tie-ins.I can gladly say that both comics are worth it, and that the Nightwing tie-ins to DotF are quite good.A theme of the more interesting DotF tie-ins have been the characters having to deal...

PREFACE:Whooo, boy was last issue a tough act to follow. Dick is now on his way to Amusement Mile, where the Joker is throwing him a surprise party with all of Haly's Circus, and I mean all ;). Nightwing is about to be brought to the edge and thrown off of it. The future solicits weren't kidding when they meant Dick was to lose everything, and this issue not only burns his dreams but pours acid into those burns. The entire Bat-family's conclusions will lie in the pages of Batman 17, but on to th...

Nightwing #16 - Death of the Family Tie-InReleased: Wednesday, January 23rdWritten by: Kyle HigginsArt by: Eddy BarrowsCover by: Eddy BarrowsIn the interest of full disclosure, I am not a regular Nightwing reader and picked this up merely because of its role in Death of the Family. There were a few references that were thus not entirely clear to me (doubly so, as I'm new to DC in general), but overall I found this to be one of the stronger DotF tie-ins and a rather fun, if nasty, little trip.Bar...

    Stunning but Stalling 0

I have been a big fan of this series from the get-go, and found the last issue really enjoyable. I thought the DOTF tied-in relatively well with the book's current happenings. The art in this issue is fantastic. I often find ghost/traced action sequences hard-to-follow, but they're always done well in Nightwing. I also like the consistent use of Nightwing's technology and the occasional POV angles. Overall though, I found this issue to be somewhat of a disappointment. I guess the drama of the eve...

Gritty, Grimy, Grotesque, and Awesome 0

Higgins proves he can keep up with Snyder when writing the Joker at his most horrific. A good dose of action combined with a glimpse of Joker's psyche, this issue finalizes the preparation for the epic finale in Batman #17.The Good:Not since Night of the Owls have we seen an issue in which Dick's world is so affected. Joker knows how to hit where it hurts, (just ask Jason) and he does! Joker's conversations with Dick never lose their intrigue. The Bad:I feel that this issue, instead of building o...

    Highly Amused 0

Well Nightwing is having a bad day.The last issue, Joker killed his friend, Joker gassed his ex-girlfriend and carved a note into her stomach. Abandoned amusement parks aren't scary, so Nightwing goes. He is also blaming Bruce for all that is happening. He might not be in the wrong there. Joker leads Nightwing through the creepy carnival, showing a string of dead bodies, and shoots him up with a hallucinogenic, that causes him to see his dead friends. He also finds his circus coworkers have a bi...

    Nightmare in Haly's Circus 0

This has overall been a very good series, and one of my favorite out of the Bat titles. Kyle Higgins has really done a terrific job, and although the series hasn't always been brilliant, it has been fun.PlotThis issue sees Nightwing rush to Haly's Circus where he finds Joker, and dug up former members of Haly's Circus.ReviewThis was a very good issue, and Higgins did a great job. Although this issue was very fast paced, it was still very good, and written brilliantly. For a two part story, Higgi...

    This is Joker's Circus 0

ReviewInteresting thing on the credits portion of the first page that I just noticed. Maybe it was there before, maybe it wasn't, but for how long as Nightwing's creation been credited to Marv Wolfman and George Perez? Would you think there would be a link to the person who originally created Dick Grayson? Interesting.Any who, to the comic itself! One thing that has bothered me with the whole Death of the Family crossover has been trying to figure out where Joker had time to get everything toget...

a brutal stab in the heart 0

Plot:If you are the kind of type for all out action and thrill, this issue is for you. Joker, as we all know, will not only bring pain with a fist to his adversaries but he will also strike them emotionally and that is what the joker did here. He played with Dick's mind and heart. He harmed nightwing's circus friends, and he even dug all of the dead Haly's Circuses' performers to hang them all over the circus stadium to taunt nightwing. This issue had nightwing fighting a whole lot of crap, and ...
