    New Avengers - Civil War

    Story:
The recently reformed New Avengers find themselves torn down the middle as the government passes the Super-Human Registration Act. Captain America is ambushed by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents upon his refusal to comply with the registration act. He joins up with Falcon to try and persuade people to join his cause and starts with Henry Pym who has already chosen the pro-registration side. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are also against registering. Iron Man and Ms Marvel attempt to persuade them to no avail. Luke Cage sends Jessica and the baby to Toronto and later that night he is ambushed by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents as well. Captain America, Falcon and Daredevil come to his aid. Spider-Woman is arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. but then broken out by Hydra agents and taken to a Hydra base. She escapes and blows up their base and seeks out Captain America and asks to join his resistance team. Sentry goes to the moon to think and is confronted by the Inhumans. Tony Stark is kidnapped by a disgruntle former employee and is rescued by Maria Hill.

    My Thoughts:
In this volume each issue deals with a different Avenger and a problem they're facing. Brian Michael Bendis does a nice job writing but the fact that there are five different artists(one for each issue) on this book means we have five completely different styles of art. Jim Cheung's issue is probably the only issue the art was excellent. In the first issue the way Captain America was portrayed was horrible. He looked inferior standing next to Falcon. The art on the issue with the Sentry and the Inhumans was just awful. The only negative thing about this book is the different art. They probably should have just had Jim Cheung draw the whole book and this could have received a perfect rating. Story-wise this is a nice crossover into the Civil War story arc and I would recommend reading it but don't expect top-of-the-line art the whole way through.

    Rating: 3.5/5

I read the crossover story Civil War, and planned on reading, and reviewing the tie-in novels that I had, and although I read them I never got round to reviewing them. I am however hoping to do that now, and am starting with the New Avengers tie-in volume, with this being my sixth review on Brian Michael Bendis' Avengers run, and my fifth from The New Avengers series.PlotWhen an accident starts a superhero Civil War, Captain America, and Iron Man are now enemies, and the rest of the New Avengers...

Strong focus on characterization lifts this story. 0

Captain America is on the run after making his decision not to support the Superhero Registration Act. He violently escapes the SHIELD helicarrier and goes underground solo. His mission is to get help in order to combat those who do support the bill. -summaryAfter re-reading through New Avengers vol 5.: Civil War, I kind of think that many of the naysayers were searching for something else entirely or they probably just didn't read it. This book is among the better Civil War tie-ins, at least th...
