Nemesis
Character » Nemesis appears in 23 issues.
The most intelligent man in the world as well as the only super villian, Nemesis has one simple goal; Make the lives of the best cops a hellish nightmare.
Tony Scott to Direct Millar's Nemesis Movie
Cool ran the scoop first and it’s been confirmed by Deadline. I’ll give it to Millar, this guy is getting things done. When he was talking about NEMESIS already being in the pipeline as a movie, I was a little skeptical and, after this, I’m pretty sure he isn’t kidding about what he’s been saying that Matthew Vaughn already trying to get SUPERIOR off the ground as a movie. The man knows how to promote himself and get his work out there.
Man… having Tony Scott direct a super-hero movie would be really wild. I can’t even picture his kinetic, heavy coverage style used for this kind of outlandish carnage. Sure, outlandish carnage is his trademark, but all of his movies have been more-or-less set in the real world so far. Anyway, if you somehow aren’t familiar with Tony Scott’s filmographies, he’s directing some a slew of memorable action movies like TOP GUN, THE LAST BOY SCOUT, MAN ON FIRE and ENEMY OF THE STATE. == TEASER ==
I wonder if this’ll give Millar’s brother’s sky-diving-as-Nemesis stunt even more attention. Maybe he ought to wait to jump until this project’s closer to being off the ground.
Anyway, what do you Comic Vine maniacs think about this? Are you stoked to see a NEMESIS movie? What do you think of Tony Scott directing it?
Tom Pinchuk’s the writer of HYBRID BASTARDS! & UNIMAGINABLE. Order them on Amazon here & he
Mark Millar is becoming the "Steven King" comic book version of being adapted from their literature,
ha, here's to hoping they don't "hollywood" them down like the morbid tragedy that was Wanted
Seriously? What is it about Millar's stuff that makes people want to turn it into a movie before it's even finished? Superior's first issue is still a ways from dropping and they're talking about a movie?
Tont Scott?
eh, he'll make the scenes way too long and overly dramatic, using a ton of different camera angles. And above all else he loves using Denzel Washington, so i wont be surprised to see him as Nemsis. if you ask me, i really dont think Tony Scott should direct this movie, it's way too epic for him to handle.
If Tony Scott is directing a movie based on it, then Mark Millar just sold his comic book to me.
I am a longtime Tony Scott fanatic. I'm kind of sad to see that you didn't mention some of his other films like True Romance and Domino, both of which played a ton with film stocks and frame shots. Domino was especially great, as he overdeveloped the film stock in order to give it this acid trip type of look. Crimson Tide was another great flick, but one of my absolute favorites is Spy Game. Brad Pitt and Robert Redford were f#$!ing AMAZING in that flick, and the story as a whole was well done. However, the movie wouldn't have been nearly as slick if Tony hadn't been behind the camera.
He and Ridley are also the only directors that can make a movie where I like seeing Denzel Washington in the film.
I don't know about Nemesis, but he seems like a "kick-ass" character to me, if you know what I mean ;)
" Seriously? What is it about Millar's stuff that makes people want to turn it into a movie before it's even finished? Superior's first issue is still a ways from dropping and they're talking about a movie? "His style can easily be adapted to movies, he has kind of a movie way of telling his stories
For those who don't know, Mark Millar has essentially been writing these comics, so they would be made into movies
Seriously? This is like Kick-Ass it was already being made into a movie barely halfway into the first volume. This is ridiculous there's only been 2 issues and Superior isn't even out yet....so annoying.
"They're going to make a movie about a comic that's only gone 2 issues? "
Exactly. He's not even giving people time to see if they like the character or even the story.
meh.....im really not very sure about all all this they guy.....and hollywood always rushes to fight more in less time even though it is done in a very unsophisticated manner.
Unoriginal exploitation is rewarded, is this the 1970s all over again? What's next? Mark Millar Presents: "Day of the Mother******* Woman!"
" Unoriginal exploitation is rewarded, is this the 1970s all over again? What's next? Mark Millar Presents: "Day of the Mother******* Woman!" "Don't give him any ideas...
It will be a successful among that general populace as it will be tagged with "From the Writer of Kick-Ass"
But yes, way too early for this to even being thought about IMO, finish the series first
This wont be anything like Kick-Ass. Tony Scott will edit the absolute freakin' crap out of this thing so the viewer HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING. Just in case you might be able to follow what's going on he'll digitally color code the thing all to hell for good measure so it looks like a million color wheels were puked into a giant bucket. Millar is already at his worst when he has too much freedom. He has an ego the size of Alaska. The first issue of Nemesis (which I actually liked) had an afterward written by Millar that took longer to read than the comic and was only about how awesome he is and blah blah blah.
Well kids, here's a good lesson for you. Write derivative juvenile tosh without an ounce of originality and you too can have it made into a hollywood movie with a respected director at the helm.
Not that I'm bitter, you understand.
I find it hard to like anything Millar writes and nothing he has done in the past few years has appealed to me in any way.
Its all well and good to take an established character, alter the looks, background and personality and call it your own but Millar seems unable to make his creations interesting and/or likeable.
They might as well hire Christopher Nolan and title it "This is not a Dark Knight knock-off.... in any way"
I'm not a fan of this, why would this movie be interesting to anyone..Just watch the Dark Knight and pretend the story was being told from the Jokers point a view. done.
