So, what you're saying is you've never really read a Namor ongoing, or much with him, and don't really know anything about him.

I don't think many people would read a Namor on-going. Plus I just can't stand sea kings. And if he's from atlantis why is he the only one who'se not blue? One of his abilities is to have wings on his ankles... what good is that when you're meant to stay underwater? Mutant abilites are meant to evolve ways to adapt to the environment... he should've gotten shark teeth to catch fish or whatever... I hate Namor

Okay, for whatever reason, you don't care for sea kings, but like most haterz, you really don't know anything about what you are hating on.

Namor's not blue, because he's half human, something that's pretty integral to the character as well as is in his origin story. Not that all Marvel mutations are about adapting to an environment, but Namor isn't meant to stay underwater. He can breathe air, and has lived on the surface world, so flying would be as much of an 'adaptation to an environment' as Angel's flight abilities. Plus, there's clearly more to the mutant abilities that are associated with his ankle wings, since they are too small to be the physical reason he can fly. There's been conjecture that his ankle wings give him his super fast swimming abilities also.

Over 70 years, tons of people have read a Namor ongoing -- including Clint Eastwood and Johnny Depp who cite Namor as a favorite superhero. When you celebrate 70 Years of Marvel history, you do so, because of Namor and the Original Human Torch. Namor's last mini-series started out with over 50,000 readers, his last ongoing, in this crappy market, started out with over 35,000 readers -- so there's plenty of folks who would read a Namor ongoing.

Can't dislike something that doesn't exist. "Namour" doesn't exist. Namor does. I love Namor. Even his "underpants phase". He probably wore the speedo because it's probably easier to swim in. I don't really care for him being on the X-Men because it's really awkward. He should stay a anti-hero & occasionally teamup when necessary.

@Charlie_Jade: Namor is excellent. He is unique in Marvel in so many ways and interwoven throughout so many story-lines. Sub-Mariner is awesome.

Namor is fantastic. So many characters today are pansies. Namor is just one bad dude one of the few. A king who takes what he wants when he wants. And you only really see the depth of namor if you read his ongoing. You don't know namor because he pissed on wakanda in avx

Namor brought us many firsts in comics.

Golden Age

Namor (or the Sub-Mariner as he was then known) debuted in the Golden Age of Comics and was the original anti-hero of comics. Interestingly, Namor was the first super-hero who was able to fly. His meeting and subsequent battle with the original Human Torch (the android called Jim Hammond) in Marvel Mystery Comics #8 (June 1940), made comic history as it was the first superhero meeting and team-up in comics history and it established for the first time the concept of a shared fictional universe inhabited by many various superheroes in comics.
