Recent Drawing: Harley Quinn Costume Redesign

No Caption Provided

I love Harley Quinn, but I can’t say I am fond with the costumes she wears (Except the one from the Batman Arkaham Assylum Video Game). Comic Vine user ImperiousRix gave the character a drastic costume redesign [link] and I asked him if I could draw an interpretation of his creation (Right).

After he agreed I got to work. I added my own personal flair to this one too. First of all I toned down the “fluff” of her sleeves and… “breast area” in order to let her feminine physique show a bit more. Of course, I didn’t let her show to much in order to be true to I-Rix’s design. I definitely didn’t want her to resemble her “New 52” look. The other thing I did was shorten the skirt. If you notice from my previous drawings this is not something I do often. I don’t believe that a woman needs a short skirt to be sexy, so I tend to add length to skirts. This time I broke the rule a bit because Harley was wearing pants/stockings which actually cover her more than female comic book characters are used to. Two other minor changes I made were to make the sleeves shorter and her hairdo. I shortened the sleeves because like I said she was already a lot more covered so shorter sleeves would make the outfit look lighter and, in a way, have her “show more skin” (Maybe not the way guys would like to though). The hairdo was just a personal choice. It is very hard for me to find a girl attractive if her hair is tied up in a bun, I even make friends of mine loose the bun when we go out. So, I made Harley have a ponytail.

I give full credit to I-Rix for this awesome design. Let me know what you think!
