The story of a young mans's Journey to Awakening, printed with the byline "A fairy tale for grown-ups." Reprinted by Vertigo nine years later as Moonshadow, with a new one-shot epilogue called Farewell Moonshadow, and then collected in Compleat Moonshadow.
One of the groundbreaking and influential comics of the mid-eighties, although lesser-known than its contemporaries like The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. It stood out for its handpainted art--the first at Marvel--as well as its literary tone, unique characters, philosophical questions, and its frank take on sexuality.
