Alan Moore explains the dream-scape in which the Miracleman family were raised in to be much like the dream state of the Red King in Alice in Wonderland. It is believed that the Red King must remain a sleep, since we are all part of his dream and will disappear and cease to exist if he were to wake up. Miracleman is compared to as the Red King, because of him waking up will end the nasty experiments Dr. Gargunza is conducting on the sleeping bodies of the Miracleman Family.
This book also reprints the issue of the birth of Miracleman's daughter Winter Moran. Winter's birth was controversial since it was very detailed and accurate graphic birth in which some retailers considered in pornography and return issue #9 of the original series because of fee of legal issues.
