Envious of Tin's relationship with Nameless, the other Metal Men ask Doctor William Magnus to build robot girlfriends for them. Magnus, at first, refuses, until Platinum points out that if she had another suitor, she would stop harassing Magnus. In three days time, Magnus has built opposite sex versions of the Metal Men, with the exception of Tin, who already had Nameless. Unfortunately for Magnus, Platinum's new beau spurns her. Magnus is alerted to a massive mechanical juggernaut tearing up the countryside, a prelude to an alien invasion. Both teams of Metal Men respond to the threat. Tin is the first to engage the rolling leviathan, molding himself into a tank barrier.

The humblest Metal Man, though, proves too weak to actually stop the machine menace. Almost immediately, discord between the two teams begins to build. Gold's girl keeps issuing commands before he can. The Irons are ordered to attack, but Iron's girl shows him up, by doing more damage. The Mercurys are sent in to gum up the machine's works. Mercury's girl takes all the credit, belittling his participation. The Leads block the machine's blaster fire, reflecting it back for the final killing blow. Before the mechanism can completely break down, it launches one last missile at the team. Platinum orders the Platinum Man to weave a wire net with her, to catch the projectile.

Turning the metal leviathan over, the team breaks inside to find... nothing. The machine turns out to be a remote controlled drone. There's no sign of the aliens. Returning to headquarters, the Metal Women, including the usually supportive Nameless, walk away from their male counterparts, believing themselves to be superior in every way. The aliens, robot amazons from another world, build their own female robot, as a lure to draw the Metal Men away from the Metal Women. En masse, the Metal Men follow the alluring robot back to the robot amazons. There the robot amazons each use their own individual abilities to subdue the Metal Men. Iron's joints are rusted. Mercury is frozen solid.

Lead is dropped from a great height, and flattens out across the landscape. Gold's head is knocked off by a magnetic fist. Tin is wrapped in knots. Platinum Man's mass is increased, so that he sinks into the ground. The Metal Women decide to make up with the Metal Men, only to find them gone. Gold Girl picks up the scent of the alien robot's perfume, and follows it back to the robot amazons. Discovering Platinum Man rapidly sinking into the Earth, Platinum is told the tactics the robot amazons used to defeat the Metal Men. Mercury Girl is frozen solid, but Iron Girl uses her as a shield to block the hot steam attack, designed to rust Iron Girl's limbs.

The hot steam thaws Mercury Girl out, who then steers Lead Girl into the two amazons, destroying them. Lead Girl gets a solid grip on the ground, so that when she is lifted into the air by Lead's attacker, she merely stretches up. Whipping back down with the robot amazon destroys Lead Girl's attacker. Gold Girl twists the magnetic fist back at the robot amazon that downed Gold, causing her metallic innards to come bursting through her chest. Nameless grabs a large rock, as she is being twisted into knots. Spiraling back to her normal shape, she releases the rock, destroying the robot amazon. Platinum climbs a tree, so that when she is made super heavy, she falls onto the robot amazon, crushing her.

The Metal Women repair the damage done to the Metal Men. To rescue Platinum Man they form a "living" chain to reach him, then begin to pull him up. Suddenly, a flow of molten lava forms a pool beneath Platinum Man. Rather than risk them all being destroyed, Nameless is ordered to let go of Lead Girl, which saves herself and Platinum. The Metal Women, and Platinum Man, are consumed by the lava flow. Magnus offers to rebuild them, but the Metal Men decide that they don't want girlfriends after all. All but Mercury, that is, who is found to be harboring the alien robot the amazons used to lure the Metal Men to them. Unfortunately, for Mercury, that robot has ceased to function.
