He's not the first writer to have her in black. At least for this interview he looks less hung-over & doesn't hide behind his shades, but he could at least stop fussy his greasy hair for two minutes.
I'm a big fan of this guy. Fraction's a great writer. You came off sounding a little fan-girlish though.
I despised what he was doing in Uncanny until Utopia started, Greg Land's art certainly didn't help my opinion of the book, but I'm wondering if someone gave him a lesson on how allot of these characters are supposed to act because I've enjoyed most of his characterizations since then. The introduction bubbles need to go though.
I don't like Emma in black :(
- I've never seen Matt Fraction before, didn't realise he was sogood looking! :D and he's funny.

I like Fraction's stuff...I think that most of his Uncanny seemed bad because of Land's art...his run on Invincible Iron Man has been amazing
When I met him and shook his hand my thumb popped......I was like Oh sweet Jesus of embarassment...kill me now.

I'm willing to give the man a shot at this. I'm really reserving my judgment until I see the whole picture. It doesn't feel right to criticize the writing before it's all over. It's just the idea that 'Emma will betray' is a played out theme. It's used over an over again. I will criticize the dialog though since that is something current. It can be weak. Such as some of the odd dialog that happens during battle scenes.
What's not helping me in buying these books is Land's art. It's uninspired and everyone has those idiotic grins on their faces. The body styles are all the same as well. I like the work of Bachalo and Ramos. Things are far more visually interesting. I wont buy a book if the art is bad.
"Emma Frost looks better in black" = Blasphemy
Namor has got to be my most hated Marvel character. He's like the Marvel equivalent of Auquaman. Which is funny since I think Namor predates Aqua by two years.
When Fraction said how Namor does the whole "put on the vibe pose" it immediately made me think of Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber. LOL

I don't believe Emma well betray i think she's being played.
Thats weird there is alot of matt fraction hate goin on? lol I love his writing, I think he's a great writer and he hasn't steered me wrong yet. Great interview babs.
Babs, I love you! Thank you for asking the important question. What about Namor?! I asked him the same at Heroes Con, so he knows Namor has some vocal fans, and hopefully he'll keep on writing the Atlantean prince into his books... at least till Marvel comes to their senses and gives their oldest character his own book. Super interview! Thanks again!
And I loved Matt Fraction's work on Iron Fist, The Order, and Thor. I followed him to Uncanny X-men and Iron Man because of those books.
I don't think Emma has really betrayed the X-Men. I believe that Scott and Emma are already in on a plan together to strike back at Osborn. It was Scott's appearance at Osborn's base that I see as a hint, one among many. He showed up alone at Osborn's own base, and he demanded Osborn's surrender. Scott is many things, but he's not that crazy. I describe it like a chess game. It's like you have your enemy surrounded on the field and you are two moves from checkmate, but your opponent doesn't see it. Only way for Scott to be so confident is if he someone Osborn surrounded without him realizing it. I could explain this theory better, but it's hardly the place.
I'm just tired that every time they write a story for Emma the only thing ever done is raise suspicious that she will betray the X-Men. It's tiring that's the only thing they ever give her to do.

I agree on both sides. It's great to introduce the characters to new readers, especially when you have Greg 'Clone' Land drawing.
On the other hand, it has grown tiring really quickly. It doesn't need to be done every single bloody issue in an on-going story arc. And the information he's been giving in those introduction boxes has been at odds with character portayal from other titles (i.e. Archangel was a fluffy happy bunny who's "pet likes include Psylocke" instead of the 'genetically twisted angel of death who wants to kill everyone to see if they're worthy'). And so far no-one has been able to tell me when Dagger became a recovering drug addict, which Fraction has used at least twice now.
I can't comment on his Iron Fist, having never read it (and not being very familiar with the character). I just object to his work on Uncanny. The fact that they keep teaming him up with Greg Land doesn't help either.
I don't hate Uncanny X-Men, it has it's points that I enjoy [mainly the X-Club stuff, everything else is kinda' suckish]. I'm not a fan of his work on Iron Man either, and again, like Uncanny X-Men, it isn't bad, but it isn't great to me. Most of the appeal seems to come from Dark Reign and the situation Tony's in right after Secret Invasion. Immortal Iron Fist is something I really enjoyed from Matt Fraction, like--I remember being excited after the first couple issues and how that particular character was fleshed out and how the Immortal Weapons came about. He's not bad, I like his writing, but he's not my favorite writer on Marvel's roster.
Now Jeph Loeb...that guy's a genius.
" @G-Man said:The drug thing is from when they first started out. I was never a huge Cloak and Dagger fan but one of my buddies read them back then. They were like runaway teens and them some dude tricked them into taking drugs (they were like guinea pigs or something). The drug was supposed to give them powers but then later it was stated that both were actually mutants. They decided to try to help "the kids" and fought drug dealers since they had to deal with drugs themselves, even if not by choice."@Fresh03 said:" I despised what he was doing in Uncanny until Utopia started, Greg Land's art certainly didn't help my opinion of the book, but I'm wondering if someone gave him a lesson on how allot of these characters are supposed to act because I've enjoyed most of his characterizations since then. " @xerox-kitty: said:But that's their origin story. They were experimented on, but never became addicts... so why is he repeatedly using something that happened in 1982 now?! It just seems like he has very weak knowledge of the character if he believes that she was an addict, and that he feels the need to mention that in her introduction box every single issue. At least have something a bit more relevant to her character, powers or history. Getting it wrong once was bad enough, but repeatedly using wrong information is just bad. Bad writing, and bad editing." @G-Man said:The drug thing is from when they first started out. I was never a huge Cloak and Dagger fan but one of my buddies read them back then. His work on Iron Fist was fantastic, of course he had Ed Brubaker along side him, and as we all know, Bru can do no wrong these days If you haven't checked it out, you owe to yourself to go grab a trade or two of their run, actually, just read Immortal Iron Fist period, it's been a killer book through out.
The problem I had with Fraction on the X men is allot of his characterizations would completely ignore what's come before, someone said that it's poor editing, well there's that and if you're writing a book you should go do research, not just jump in and write what you think is cool, continuity be damned. Like I said before, he's gotten a ton better over the last couple of months.
The guy is one heck of a writer and he's turned me around on Uncanny now, hopefully he keeps it up, a good story might very well distract me from noticing Pamela Anderson and Jenna Jameson with mutanat powers when Land comes back to the book in a few issues.
