Could someone who is new to marvel comics jump on to the avengers or xmen titles right now?

I was thinking of subbing to the xmen and avengers (just the avengers and xmen, not any spin off variants.) titles, since they're the ones that marvel's events occur around, but I saw that a new big event is going to be happening soon. Should I try to hop on now or wait until after secret wars is over?

imo Hickman's Avengers is not meant to be read in single issues. id wait for it to be collected in paperback. i also don't enjoy Hickman's writing so i can't in good faith recommend Avengers

All New Marvel Now would be a good jumping point nice it starts..

If you are going for Avengers... Start with Number 1....

X-Men don't really have any good titles that you are looking for.... All the main ones suck
