@fallschirmjager: Tbf,RDJ's career was floating in mediocrity and just because Caine had been inover 100 movies they weren't all blockbusters that everyone saw and knew him pre-2005.

Michael Caine has been acting since the 1950's. If you didn't know who he was prior to 2005 you don't know anything about movies.

RDJ was equally as famous for his drug problems.

Affleck's been acting since like 1980 and wasn't in a blockbuster until like 1998 when he was in Armageddon or Good Will Hunting. That's half his career he was doing minor films like Chasing Amy.

Please cut the s!$t. When superhero movies started picking up RDJ wasn't in the limelight and Iron Man gave his career new life and Caine's career predates the majority of people who know him as Alfred, they mightive seen him once before or a couple times but he wasn't "mainstream" until recent. RDJ WAS "mainstream" but not around Iron Man and now he is again.

P.S. You hurt my feelings by saying I don't know anything about movies...

RDJ was always a big name in hollywood. It just wasn't a positive name. He has ALWAYS been extremely talented and coveted for roles, going back to the 80's and 90's - but his drug problems (which were very well covered in the media) made him a risk.

The only thing Iron Man did was give him a chance to show he was over his problems.

And if you consider Alfred Caine's iconic role, then you really do not know anything about movies. That guy is one of the greatest actors in history.

So your feelings aside, there still is no argument to be made. They're both as or more known then Ben Affleck.

And if you have a problem seeing 1 guy/girl in too many roles (regardless of who he is, especially if he/she is supremely talented), that I pity you, because your imagination sucks and "Imagination rules the world"

In any case, I've made my point several times and no need to repeat myself anymore so I'm done here. Enjoy.

I really disliked Goyer as the writer for MoS. Hopefully he does better with the second movie.

I was really annoyed at his treatment of Ma and Pa Kent, and the supporting cast in general.

I agree with the guy who said Ben Affleck is a bit too overexposed to be Batman, I dont understand why he got so much flack for it.

When Iron Man came out I didnt know a ton about Iron Man or Robert Downey Jr so I havent been overexposed to that.

And Alfred, at least for me, wasnt the iconic character that Batman is. So it didnt really bother me.

Having said that, I'm going in with an open mind and am going to try and appreciate Affleck as Batman because he is talented.

I hope he does good. And since Batman unlike Superman has be constantly reinvented to fit the new world and time that we live in, I don't mind what he does as long as I believe he is Bruce Wayne/Batman!

This movie should not be titled Batman vs. Superman. World's Finest would do just fine.

Actually, I thought Henry did say something about Ben being Batman few months ago. I cannot wait to see the movie, though! Betcha that'll surprise a lot of naysayers.

This whole Batfleck as another Daredevil doesn't bother me. I kinda enjoyed him as DD. If not for the wire-fu, I would have loved the DD film. But then again, I wasn't able to watch the theatrical version.

I am excited for Ben to be Batman, look at Heath Ledger no one thought he'd be that great of a Joker and he was the best on film.

@the_vein: That isn't the official name of the movie that is just what they're calling it right now, no official name has been announced.

I don't think Affleck will ruin Batman, and maybe he can pull him off, but I honestly don't see him too much as Bruce Wayne. People forget that he will be playing two people essentially. I still think Ryan Gosling would have been a better fit for the role.

I am the exact opposite. When rumors were floated about Gosling I was very worried. I think Gosling has a weasel face and nowhere near the jawline necessary to pull of the cowl, his chin is too pointy. Also, I'm pretty sure he has either one or both lazy eyes.

Goyer?! The jerk that thought it was a good idea to have Superman kill and to write Jonathan Kent as a non supportive contradictory bore? Who'll probably have Superman turn into a govt tool or a stupid stooge for Batman to kick the crap outta because Batman is just sooooo awesome!

Bruce and Clark have fought in the mainstream about three times. When Supes was barely holding back against a brainwashed Batman, he practically shattered every bone in his body. When Supes was brainwashed, Batman BARELY stopped him. And when Batman had no kryptonite and was facing down an angry and furious Superman from the future in the Batcave, the older Superman b---slapped him into his own Batmobile with a single slap. The point being Supes easily kicks his butt except when Bats has every advantage and Superman has none. Even the DKR comic revealed this. Supes was holding back and Batman had to get other heroes to help, use kryptonite and trick Supes to knock him out.

I don't read comics or watch movies to see heroes brawl with EACH OTHER. Marvel does that stupid idea every summer.

Given his purported power-set, Superman could defeat Batman from the relatively safe confines of outer space if written with but a smidgen of realism.

That said, I think folks are too critical of the movie. Comic book ideology does not translate 100% to the big screen. Fact is, had Superman done nothing, he would have killed anyway and his "non action" would have been far more amoral.

"Oh but he's Superman!! Superman would have found a way!" - sure. Perfect characters, and ideal scenarios, are completely inaccessible to today's audience. Clark was faced with an impossible choice. And he made the right one.

It still doesn't change the fact that it's Ben Affleck and I personally will only ever be able to see him as Ben Affleck... dressed up like Batman.

He's just one of those actors that's been overexposed, in my eyes. Maybe not for you, but he has been for me.

watch the town and argo please then watch him as batman when all your friends tell you how great he was as batman

Ben is a spectacular director. He may have developed into a fine actor. But Batman he ain't. We saw that with George Clooney and I don't care how bad or good Batman & Robin was.

If Affleck proves me wrong I'll be the first one to admit it. I just can't see him as Batman. And it's not like he'll have make-up to pull of a chameleon-like transformation like Ledger did with the Joker.

Plus the sequel has to deal with Goyer's preachy monologue script and Snyder's shakey cam. Combine that we'll get a fundamental case of not getting the subject matter or the characters.

I completely agree. I don't think Affleck has ever shown the diversity that guys like Heath Ledger and Robert Downey Jr bring. He has one pitch. It works in the right role, but take him outside of what he's good at and it doesn't work. The first movie wasn't great, in my opinion. Especially in comparison to some of the stellar comic movies that have come out in recent years. And considering the direction that they are going with some of the casting, this sequel is setting up to be a colossal failure.
