    I think he can, but it will take him awhile. Destroy the Magnetosphere and the entire planet is pretty much dead.

    Magneto can fly in space.......  Does he breath air in space? How does he breath?  He doesn't hold his breath.
     
    Air (ie: oxygen etc...) are built upon the EM field. Electron Particles hold molecules and shape molecules. Oxygen is a molecule. Carbon dioxide is a molecule too and Carbon Dioxide is what oxygen turns into after you breath it in and exhale it out. He recycles the oxygen by recharging the Carbon Dioxide molecules with fresh electrons turning them back into oxygen.

    just collapse the planets EM field and Vwalah! everything will be burnt to a crisp! Or just stop the rotation of the core in a planet and vwalah! everything falls apart!

    Wow. Thaaaat's pushing it. I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief, but that's a stretch.

    If he can do that (wow that's powerful, btw!) everything would die, but the planet would still be here. Not really busting the planet, right?
