This article is about the second Ludlow to take on the identity of the Spider. For the first, see Thomas Ludlow Hallaway. For the third, see Thomas Ludlow-Dalt.

Origin

The son of the original Alias the Spider and a reporter, Lucas was born after his father was killed by the Shade. He took up his criminal father's identity and career when he reached adulthood.

Creation

Lucas Ludlow-Dalt was created by James Robinson and Peter Snejbjerg. He made his first appearance in Starman #47.

Major Story Arcs

Grand Guignol

Lucas is recruited by Simon Culp as part of his plan to get revenge on the Shade. He is sent to kill an informant, and later helps to capture Mikaal Tomas and cause chaos in Opal City. He is set to guard the Shade after he has been subdued and stripped of his powers. He attempts to kill the Shade, but is prevented by Matt O'Dare. He manages to shoot O'Dare in the shoulder and flees, successfully escaping.

Slings and Arrows

Impersonating Green Arrow in order to frame the hero, Lucas carries out a series of assassinations in Louisiana in order to remove all other claimants on a lucrative land deal. He successfully kills all but two of the investors before he is confronted by Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, and Hawkman. Though he initially has the upper hand, he is soon overwhelmed by the heroes, and shot in the eye by Green Arrow. He escapes, and despite losing his vision in one eye remains a prodigious shot.

Seven Soldiers of Victory

Living in much reduced circumstances, Lucas is assassinated by his younger brother, Tom, who takes the alias of the Spider for himself.

Powers and Abilities

Lucas has no known superhuman powers or abilities. He is skilled with the bow and arrow, and has excellent aim. He has good reflexes, and is a competent hand-to-hand combatant.

Weapons and Equipment

Lucas carries a bow and quiver full of arrows. He occasionally uses trick arrows, notably arrows which trail a spider web-like netting.
