    Creation

Lightbright was created by Gregory Wright and Steven Butler in 1993 and first appeared in Silver Sable & The Wild Pack # 16.

    History

Born and raised in Somalia, the mutant who would be known as Lightbright became involved with the Bio-Genes - a faction of Somali mutant rebels led by the emotion-manipulating Leecher. Dedicated to purging all United States influence from their nation and seizing control from the government, the Bio-Genes attacked a U.S. Marine compound 10 miles outside of Mogadishu where they were confronted by the Wild Pack, a professional soldier unit led by Silver Sable (under the auspices of Silver Sable International) which was hired by the U.S. Government to ensure that food and medicine made it to their destinations safely. The battle was interrupted by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his HYDRA forces, who sought to conquer the nation in the name of Somalia's southern war lords. The Bio-Genes and the Wild Pack joined forces to oppose Strucker and, during the course of the battle, Lightbright's life was saved by Battlestar, who served with Silver Sable's forces at the time. Upon the Wild Pack's return to the U.S., Battlestar invited Lightbright to join him at the Symkarian embassy in New York City. In New York, she began a romantic relationship with Battlestar and joined the Intruders, an elite shoot off of the Wild Pack. With the Intruders, she travelled to Bosnia to oppose Genesis Coalition members who were posing as HYDRA agents. Lightbright served with the Intruders until Silver Sable decided to return her base of operations to Symkaria.

After the passage of the Superhuman Registration Act (SHRA), Lightbright was one of the many superhumans to oppose the registration. Lightbright was defeated by Iron Man and Spider-Man alongside several other superhumans when they were cornered in Manhattan, and she was arrested and imprisoned in the Negative Zone Alpha Prison until escaping in a mass breakout orchestrated by Captain America's Secret Avengers movement. Lightbright battled in the final battle of the Superhuman Civil War, but eventually surrendered on the orders of Captain America.
