Mark Ruffalo recently replaced Edward Norton as Bruce Banner for the upcoming Avengers film, but does that mean that everyone from the Incredible Hulk film is a no go for future Marvel films? Not necessarily. Mtv Splash recently reported on this subject as Tim Blake Nelson talked about his involvement with Marvel Studios.

Tim Blake Nelson played the character Dr Samuel Sterns in the last Hulk film, who ends up getting Bruce's gamma-infused blood into a cut in his head, in which Sterns' head starts getting all bubbly, towards the end of the film. Many people led to believe that Stern would return as the leader in a sequel. Although, Norton is no longer associated with the franchise, so most people assumed the same about Nelson, who has some interesting info about upcoming Marvel-relating films:

"I am [contracted for more Marvel films]... but it’s a question as to whether they’ll make more movies, which was the [original] intention, or whether they’ll take a fresh start with the villains, since they switched Bruce Banner to Mark Ruffalo... I certainly very much want to return as the Leader and I hope they’ll have me," he continued. "The intention was that I would come back, which is why my head starts to, um, bubble, at the end. It’s just a question as to whether a) they’re going to make more Hulk movies, and b) because of Ruffalo, if they’re going to use me again.”

Nelson seems to really want the part, but at the same time, if it doesn't happen, we'll be sure to still see him in some role in an upcoming Marvel film. What did you guys think about Nelson's role in the Incredible Hulk film? Should he be cast as the Leader in an upcoming Marvel film? Or should he be someone else?

If they plan to use that movie as cannon...then they should definitely get him back so at least one character ties into that movie.

If they are scrapping that movie...then there is no reason for him to be.

I say let the show go on regardless of Banner's change of actors.  TIH was great and by scrapping it they'd have to do ANOTHER origin movie. Two times is enough, just keep going with it. It's also refreshing to see that at least one actor from TIH is enthusiastic about returning. He was a great Sterns.

Why scrap all the actors from the previous movie just because of Norton?? That sounds stupid.

In just a few months, we're going to see Peter Sarsgaard as fellow big-brained villain, Hector Hammond. The IH2 guys can see what he looks like and go from there.

For the love of all Gamma Radiation in the Marvel Universe, bring back TBN as the Leader and Tim Roth as Blonski/Abomination. If you're gonna rob me of Ed Norton, at least bring the aforementioned bad guys as well as William Hurt and Liv Tyler back as well.

If there is going to be a sequel(s), why would you think that? Just because Edward Norton will no longer be Bruce Banner? Any sequel won't be a reboot, it will be a sequel.

I have a feeling the actors who portrayed main characters would return for any sequels. Although, there really weren't many major characters in the movie aside from Bruce that could return. Thunderbolt and Betty probably would. Blonsky might not. And Sterns probably would as the villain. So, you've got Tim Nelson, Liv Tyler, and William Hurt. I'm sure Marvel would have all three of them return.

He was awfully cartoony. I'd prefer them to just pretend the third act of that film didn't happen.

I say keep the entire cast from the movie but with Ruffalo brought in to replace Norton. There is no reason to recast every time they make a Hulk movie or tv show. Or they could just put Ruffalo and gang into the tv show instead of doing movies.

I can see the Leader appearing in the Avengers movie... even for a brief scene. He could even be the one to turn Ultron on the heroes in the Avengers sequel, if they decide to go that route. Either way, he made for a great Leader and could easily pull it off in a full-length feature.

I wouldn't have problem to have him back. It helps continue that plotlien better than bringing in new actors simply.
I'm still sad about the fact we won't get Ed Norton anymore so..
(couldn't he just be back as Hulk/Banner in a sequel of that movie, even if he "skips" Avengers?)

Why should they replace the hole cast? In iron man war machine was played by terrance howard but, in iron man 2 he was played by don cheedle. He was on the main cast and they din't change all the actors. They should leave TBN as the leader if there gonna make a sequel.
