    She was a former editor at DC Comics and the creator and Executive Editor of the Vertigo comics imprint from 1993 until stepping down in 2013. At DC she was the one who edited and helped bring in talent for several of the books that led to Vertigo's creation such as Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing and Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.

    History

    She won the Inkpot Award in 1990, three Eisner Awards (1993, 1994 and 1995), and the Comics Buyer's Guide Award for Favorite Editor every year from 1997 through 2005. But perhaps what she is best known for is creating the Vertigo imprint (she was Executive Editor of said imprint). She appeared as a character in the first DC comic that she edited, check this page for more details. Karen is married to Richard Bruning.

    On December 3rd 2012 Executive Editor Karen Berger announced stepping down from her position and leaving the imprint in March 2013.
