Starbreaker continues his assault on the Earth! Also includes the origin of the Justice League.

The Hawkman briefs the Justice League of America on the threat of the Starbreaker. An alien Minister of Development refuses to pay the Starbreaker's exorbitant rate for power. The Starbreaker sends a message back with the alien emissary. As soon as said message is relayed, the Starbreaker destroys the emissary's ship. The Starbreaker arrives on Earth, and immediately begins laying waste to the planet. The Flash, the Green Lantern, and Superman confront the Starbreaker. The Flash is the first to fall, followed by the Green Lantern, and then, finally, Superman.

In defeat, the three heroes return to the satellite headquarters of the Justice League of America. With their mightiest members so easily defeated, the Justice League of America gives in to despair. The Hawkman suggests reviewing the team's origin to boost morale. The Justice League of America watch the recorded tapes of their first case, narrated, in turns, by J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, the Flash, and Superman.

The material in the recorded tapes was originally published in Justice League of America #9 (February, 1962). A plot summary of that story can be found at the link.

Reinvigorated by the tale of how the team formed, the Justice League of America begin plotting strategies to use in combatting the Starbreaker. Suddenly, Sargon The Sorcerer materializes before them. As friend or foe, however, none can say.
